There is, however, a faction on the side of Chaos known as the Conrí. Both factions are Immortal Guardians of the Well of Souls. However, the Conrí claimed to have tainted some of the souls in order to keep soul mates from finding each other. Deanna is one of the souls that Robert fears may have been tainted and Ian is afraid that she will be recycled. So Ian begs Robert to send Deanna back to his time, when he was a mortal, because she is his soul mate.

First let me just say that I absolutely loved this story! It was very well written. Whenever the story would change from one time period to another, it was always clearly marked. I never found myself confused as to when what I was reading was taking place. I don't even recall noticing any grammatical, punctuation or spelling errors which was a nice change of pace.

There are just so many great characters in the book. I loved how Deanna is strong and refuses to be bossed around. Ian, well, you just have to love a Highlander. Well, I love them anyway. He's very protective of his family and friends. Very loyal too. Robert ... well, Robert was a bit of a mystery for me. I found myself trying to figure him out. Wondering what he was really up to. Yes, there were some things that he couldn't share with Ian but I still felt like there was something else he was hiding. I just have this feeling that there is more to Robert than what was revealed in Immortal Desires! As for the minor characters, there were a number of them that I couldn't help but care for. Like William Munro, Ian's good friend; Tomas, Captain of the Guards; Isobel, Ian's mother; and Mairi, Ian's sister.

This book had mystery, suspense, and a wonderful romance. I laughed a little and a cried even more. As soon as I was finished reading it, I wanted more. I'm very much looking forward to reading other books by Laura Eno. And I will be impatiently, yes, impatiently, waiting for the next book in the Well of Souls series. :) If you love historical romances with a bit of magic and some time travel, you have to read Immortal Desires!

I received this as part of a Goodreads group The Knights of the Round Table giveaway. I absolutely love Laura Eno's writing style. She is a great author. This story was hard to put down once I finally got a chance to start reading it. The characters were very engaging and the scenery descriptions made me want to run out and get on a plane to see the Scottish highlands for myself. I received this book to review as part of the Read 2 Review and I REALLY enjoyed it. I read it in about a day. Once I started I could not put it down.

I have to be honest here. For some reason, when I bought this yesterday, I was expecting to read about more Vampire/Werewolf romance etc. How wrong could I be?

The story that unfolded was so much more than the usual 'Human/Immortal’ romance. Combining aspects of time travel, magic, folk lore, history and the supernatural, Laura Eno takes the reader on a journey from the present back to circa 1500's and the Scottish Highlands.

Talk about time travel!

Immortal Desires is one great read.

I received the novel from Knights of the Round Table on Goodreads, in exchange for a review. This is the first time I have read Laura’s work, and I enjoyed it.

At first, I was a little unsure as to whether or not this book would be a good read for me. I do, on occasion, read paranormal romance, but not often as the characters tend to lack depth. However, I found that did not hold true for this book.

The three main characters were very well developed. Not too much detail, not too little, just enough to make them come to life for the reader.

The book revolves around Deanna Cameron, Ian MacKay, and Robert (otherwise known as Kyndeyrn). Deanne is a mortal woman who has been found by Robert, a Guardian, to be one of the "lost souls" that needs to be returned to the Well of Souls for recycling. Ian is Robert's aide/assistant who is immortal. Lightly touched on in this book is the Conri, the "bad" guys who want to taint the Well of Souls in an effort to save humanity, since they believe that if all soulmates find each other, humanity will cease to exist. Robert's "good" side (the Aeneas) is opposed to this as he believes there is no danger to humanity should this occur. However, you will not find much of a "battle between good and evil" as they are just mentioned in passing, possibly to set the stage for the next book in the series.

When Deanne is brought to Boulder (where Robert is located) under the pretense of a job with what is disguised as a very successful corporation, Ian discovers that Deanne is his "lost soulmate" and is determined to find a way for his formally mortal self to meet her and ultimately fall in love, instead of her being "recycled" back to the Well of Souls where he will never see her again. This is because they are true soulmates, but with him now being an Immortal, he is never "recycled", thereby never able to meet her in another life.

The story revolves around what Deanna and Ian go through during two separate time periods (very well delineated) to be together.

This book was listed as "spicy", meaning there were sex-scenes in the book. This did hold true, but was done in such as way as to not overdo the sexual situations and in fact made skipping those parts quite easy (if you are of a mind to).

It is a very hard book to put down. I even found myself close to tears near the end, something that RARELY happens when I read (I'm not the crying type).

I would definitely recommend this book to adult readers of not only paranormal romance but also of historical romance (a great deal of the book takes placed in early 1500's Scotland). Thank you Laura for another great read.(less)

Before she leaves, she encounters a strange man, almost a ghost, keeping watch on her in her new apartment in Boulder Colorado. What she does not know is that she is the soul mate of the last laird of the castle that is now the hotel she will be staying at. She flies to Scotland, sees his picture above the mantle, and then, during a walk in the cemetery, she finds a Celtic broach and suddenly she is whisked back to 1505 to meet with the laird, Ian Mackay.

Robert Thornton of the Light Street Corporation isn’t your average good looking mega-millionaire corporate CEO. He is a Guardian of the Well of Souls, someone who helps souls back to the Well to be paired with their soul mate in future lives. Guardians work with the Aeneas Council, the Gods of the Souls. Ian Mackay is an Immortal who works for Robert as a Guardian and is none too happy to find out that the new lost soul that Robert has hired with intents on recycling into the well is someone who is meant to be his soul mate, Deanna.

Workings against the Guardians are the Contri, a group that believes that the only way to save humans from extinction is to keep soul mates from pairing. They do this by targeting humans who are carrying souls to be mated and killing them to banish the souls from the Well.

This book has so many twists and turns, changes in time between the present day and the 1500’s Scotland. We see the story as it happens in the 1500s, Ian’s reactions in the present, and how Robert is having to work on things. The process of getting the soul mates together, how Ian in the present is having to sit and await how his early self handles things is an interesting twist on time travel storytelling.

I loved this book, Laura Eno is fast becoming one of my favorite writers and I am hoping there is going to be more to the Well of Souls. It has a fast pace and there are some really great scenes with Deanna’s modern woman ways and Ian’s “pigheaded Scottish maleness” pulling between them. Oh, and Ian does wear a kilt.

With the way it is set up and the way it has been put together, Laura Eno has almost an unlimited pool of stories to write about (pun intended). The book has some nice, gentle love scenes but it’s not graphic by any means, I would give those scenes a PG 13 rating, mainly for the necessary language used to describe their lovemaking.

When I first started reading this book, it sort of felt like one of those Highlander/Historical Romance type novels with a Paranormal Twist. Normally, I'm turned off by Highlander-type Romances... Sad to say, but Historical Romances/Highlander-Type Romances are just not my cuppa..

Laura Eno does not disappoint!!! This is the second book I have reviewed of hers for R2R and I have to say she is a favorite. I haven't read many historical novels, I wouldn't say I'm not a fan, I just haven't but she definitely has piqued my interest to this genre.

This book was amazing!!! I'm still all teary-eyed from the ending and though I'm an emotional being… books usually don't call in the water works. It was a very fun read that I had a very hard time putting down. She knows how to tell a story that grabs you right in the heart. I read it in one sitting. Deanna and Ian were made for each other, they were pretty damn good! You should definitely read it!

Move over, Diana Gabaldon and Karen Marie Moning, and make room for Laura Eno! What a fantastic start to what I hope is a long running series. IMMORTAL DESIRES is one of those books that I just couldn't put down, and as soon as I was finished, I wanted more.

While this book was very much a romance, it had so many more elements that made it a great read: mystery, intrigue, feisty heroines and hot highlanders. From the strong characters to the engaging story line, this was a great read.

When Deanna is left at that altar, she needs something to snap her back into life. What better way to start over than a dream job that sounds too good to be true? So she makes the leap and starts over at Light Street Corporation, a new job and new state to live in and the chance to start over. What Deanna doesn't know is, her new boss, Robert Thornton, is actually an immortal being, a guardian to the Well of Souls and that she is one of the lost souls.

As part of her new job, Deanna is sent to Scotland, where she's to inspect a castle that has been turned into a hotel. When she sees a picture on the wall of the last laird of the castle, she feels an immediate connection and wonders if he could be the apparition that she has been dreaming about for the last month. While wondering around the cemetery, Deanna finds a brooch that transports her back in time to 1505, where not only does her dream apparition come to life, he thinks she is a spy.

Ian is an immortal druid working at Light Street Corporation that knows as soon as he sees Deanna that she is his long lost soul mate. The only problem is they were supposed to meet while he was mortal and that was 500 years ago. When Ian begs his boss not to "recycle" Deanna but send her back in time to when he was living, he sets of a series of events that no one knows the ramifications.

This story is told from a multi-dimensional point of view, jumping times and locations, which you would think would be confusing but was not. I felt it added more depth to the story line and was handled very nicely. I was never confused about what century I was in or where I was. This also had the added bonus of reliving the memories with Ian currently while they are unfolding in the past. It was a very unique way of seeing the story play out.

While the "bad" guys aren't fully developed in this first story, you get just enough to make you question who is in the right, or are both the Aeneas and the Conri just being used as pawns in a game the Gods are playing? There are definite times when I questioned who exactly was in the right.

IMMORTAL DESIRES is very well written and Ms. Eno's world building and character development are strong. Her narrative brings the surroundings to life, be it the Colorado mountains or the Scottish highlands. You can't help but fall in love with this book and especially with Deanna and Ian. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of historicals, time travel and the fight for true love. (less)

The book is about Deanna, a women who get's dumped at the altar, then she get's a new job and suddenly is back in the highlands where she meets Ian. The story is pretty simple, it is a nice and sweet romance and I liked that it was a light read. Although the ending suddenly got a whole lot more serious and heavy than the first part of the book. Deanna and Ian immediately fall in love with each other (which I found a bit unbelieveable) but they keep their distance at first. The story is pretty fast paced, but at times slows down a bit and at other time suddenly jumps forward.

Except for Deana going in back in time there is another storyline that focusses on two Immortals in the current time. This is sometimes a bit confusing and I wished there was a bit more world building about who and what these Immortals are, why they exist and what exactly is the well of souls and the council. There was just enough explanation to have a sense of what was going on, but it did lacked depth.

Another thing I liked about this book was seeing a bit of medieval scotland, although a few times I wondered if certain behavior where really that common in that time. There where also some times some of the characters just reacted unbelieveable. Some pretty big things happen (like for expample Deanna eggting dumped at the altar), but the characters just react like it's no big deal. There are also times big things happen and the characters do react, so I found the events where they didn't a bit unbelievebale. I also had some problems really getting a feel of who the characters where, the focus is more on the story than on the characters or the world building.

To conclude: this is just a nice and light romance book. I recommend it to everyone who's looking for a light read, although at the end it does get a bit heavier. The books lacks some depth and world building, but overal is just an enjoyable read.(less)

This book about Deanna and Ian intrigued me, but after about two chapters I was lost. There was enough of a plot line to keep me reading, but there were plenty of places I just didnt understand what was going on. There is a lot of jumping around between characters and some parts were very predictable.

Immortal Desires is well written besides the few quirks. It was hard to follow in places because of the jumping between characters and complete seperate plots that were working to come together.

I loved the timeless love story of soul mates Deanna Cameron and Ian Mackay. It was the love story that kept me enthralled. I would have liked to see more of the Druid and Immortals side of the story because at times I got lost. The romance was strong enough to carry me through. It may be that most readers already are familiar with the world of the Immortals, but I'm not one of them. I still enjoyed this book very much.

I would recommend this time-travel if you like the highlander type characters. If you like the Moning series you will like this one. Similar but different.

It is a really well written story and worth the read. A good Sunday afternoon, sitting on your deck, in the sun type book.

I received this book as a R2R and it was a fun light fast read. It has been awhile since I have read a good romance. The story flowed well and the characters were very likable. I love time travel books and this book definitely hit the spot. I usually judge books on if I can read them in one sitting and can't put it down. I definitely was engaged with the story. Great job. Definitely recommended as a fun fast read or a good beach read. Thank you for the opportunity to read and reveiw.

I just finished this delightful read. In this time-travel, we are in the periods of present and Scotland 1500's. You'll fall in love with Ian, wish you were the well rounded, confident Deanna and feel their struggles with a multitude of emotions. I recommend this book to romance readers everywhere.
