Ooooh, finally Caine and Cassie's story!! Okay, I'm not finish Salvatore's book yet, but of course I know about Caine!

The frontcover not appaling, but see the stepback :

Wooo the hoooo!! Sexy, sexy!
And because the translated version will most likely never include this stepback, I think I will buy the English version *grin*

3 plus stars = pretty good.

I liked the bits with Caine and Cassie in Fear the Darkness, but unlike the early books the romance was a really small part of the story and Cain and Cassie's romance was pretty straight forward.

I...liked...the rest but gosh, there were so many past and future characters in the book that I think that almost everyone in the series turned up -that's a slight exaggeration but it sure felt like the whole gang was there. While I liked seeing Viper, Styx, and Salvadore, and...more

Fear the Darkness is Cassie and Caine’s story. It has been a while coming and I’m glad it finally got here.

Cassie is one of the were “twins” although I believe there is 4 of them, they are called twins. Each if Cassie's, sisters already bagging (Mating) one of the big hot alpha’s of the previous books…it was time for her story. Cassie has been living in a cave, literally, held prisoner by the uber evil...because she is the prophet. She is rescued by Caine and has been on the run with him from e...more

Quick & Dirty: Great installment for fans of the series, with a dark and creative world. Had me hooked, can’t wait to start this series from the beginning.

Opening Sentence: The abandoned silver mine in the Mojave Desert wasn’t the first place someone would expect to encounter Styx, the current Anasso.

The Review:

Fear the Darkness begins with Cassie and Caine on the run. Cassie is a prophet and many people would like to use her to further their own power. Ca...more

Fear the Darkness is the ninth book in The Guardians of Eternity series. Cassie, a were, is the only known prophet. Caine was once a cur but was transformed into a full blooded were. He has taken the role of protector, but his feelings for Cassie go beyond duty.

I absolutely loved Cassie and Caine together. She has basically been held a prisoner her whole life. She is naïve in some ways, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Caine is seeking redemption for his past mistakes, and wants to...more

Fear the Darkness is the ninth book in the Guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. The Guardians of Eternity is one of the series that I will keep and cherish forever. This is due to the fact that it has so many key elements that I enjoy. Humor, passion, and deep plot lines. Fear the Darkness fell perfectly into place with this series. If you have not read the previous eight books I think that you might miss out on a...more

"Fear the Darkness" is the story of the were, Cassie, the prophet and the formerly evil, Caine. Together, their story will be epic and have long lasting repercussions for all of the supernatural world.

Cassie and Caine have been on the run. Cassie receives a vision that sends them to Las Vegas. She is not sure why she needs to be there but she knows that it is important. Cassie is overwhelmed by all of the sights and entertainment that a newbie to Vegas would cherish. After being held captive for...more

I presume you know what the book is about. I'm letting you know what I liked or disliked about it.

Wow. I am seriously disappointed in this book. It ended well. Yep. I'll read the next one in the series. Ever the optimist here...

Loved Cassie and Caine's connection, for the most part.

I really enjoyed the first six books of this series. Things (events, plot line, etc.) started to go a bit caddywampus in book 7. Book 8 was confusing as it seemed the plot lines fragmented and went in some strange di...more

Vampires, Werewolves, Witches oh my! Guardians of Eternity
Book 9, Fear the Darkness has it all with some possessive, alpha male action, steamy romance, good vs. evil and of course a gargoyle that will make any girl giggle. If you have not read the previous books in this series, I would highly recommend doing so. While this book can stand on its own, there are a number of previous story lines that lead up to this one and explain the various creatures that a...more

Prophecies and the cryptic predictions that come with seers are a favorite element in books for me. The tension and speculation that is added to a book by this makes the pages fly by with anticipation. I have loved Cassandra from the moment she was introduced in this series. I loved the fact that she misunderstood many things due to her naiveté and taking things quite literally. Thus I have been looking forward to this book.

Caine was incredibly devoted to Cassandra. He did everything within his...more

Review of Fear the Darkness by Alexandra Ivy

This is book 9 in the Guardians of Eternity series. I had read the first 4 books, have books 5 and 6 sitting in my TBR pile, but haven’t stayed current with the series. I will have to rectify that. I forgot how much I enjoyed Ms. Ivy’s books.

Because I haven’t read all the books, there were some characters and plot threads that I was unfamiliar with. So I would get a little distracted at some points, trying to make connections and understanding the sig...more

You know what they say about Karma right? Well I'm sure Caine certainly does! He's spent so much time being an evil bastard that fate has come up with the most delicious punishment. He got his wish to turn from cur to a pureblood Were but at the same time he has taken on the task of protecting the most valuable creature in the world from dark forces. Unfortunately for him, he finds her irresistible and his newly found conscience is firm on not taking advantage of...more

Book Nine in the Guardians of Eternity Series, Fear the Darkness is more a collaboration of most of the previous characters defeating the big bad, The Dark Lord than just a HEA for cur turned were Caine and Cassandra, the fourth were quad and Prophet. A little slow in the middle nevertheless the action picks up pace for the final confrontation where in a nice touch the miniature gargoyle Levett becomes the hero of the day. It would seem this is the end of this particular story arc although Alexa...more

The last few books in this series were getting better for me, but this book just didn't do it for me. I liked the characters from the start. I actually really enjoyed the book for the first 100 pages or so. I thought I was going to love this book. I saw so much potential in it. However, every series seems to get to a point where all of the background plots need to be tied up and the love story takes a back seat. This was that book for this series. At times I actually forgot I was reading a PNR....more

Description:

Her Visions Lead Her To Danger

Beautiful Cassandra is a Were, a prophet both vulnerable and defiant, blessed with visions that portend the fate of the world. A rare and delicate creature, Cassie must be protected at all costs. Enter Caine, a powerful cur turned pureblooded Were whose recent tangles with a demon lord have left him in serious need of...more

I am so happy that Caine turned out to be a "good guy," but this one was just a little disappointing. For one thing, Ivy cannot grasp the meaning of the word "literally." Cassie was "literally on fire" for Caine. Seriously? She just caught fire out of nowhere? That's just plain scary. There were a couple more incorrect uses of it, but I can't think of them right now.

Another thing that really upset me was Cassie's whole character. At the beginning, she has had no human contact. She didn't even h...more

The Guardians of Eternity are trying to stop the apocalypse and with the help of Cassandra, a prophet whose sisters are mated with other Guardians and Caine, a full blooded were who is protecting Cassie and has been a pain to the Guardians in the past, they hope that they can prevent the Lord of Darkness from coming through the veil where it is being held prisoner.

The Dark Lord had been banished beyond the veil and kept there by The Phoenix (Abby) for several years, however over the past few mon...more

Oh, Gah! When is the next one already?

I loved this book and while I'll admit I was mildly worried the author seemed to be kind of wrapping up the series—Seriously, was there an older couple who DIDN'T make an appearance in this book?—She has reassured me by leaving a few things dangling off their respective cliffs.

I can see at least two, maybe three books left as potentials for the continuation of this series and even maybe, possibly an inkling of who the next big bad will be too. (view spoiler...more

Too Little Romance

He used to be the Bad Guy. The Big Bad of the piece. Hunted for bad acts, reviled for nefarious plans. Caine was the cur obsessed with becoming pureblood. Narcissistic, lacking conscience. Then one selfless act changed his destiny.

First, it killed him. Which, admittedly, was a bummer. Then he was reborn as a pureblood. Perk. But it also thrust Caine into an unfamiliar role: hero and protector of the most important being alive, the pureblood Were and prophet Cassa...more

Fear the darkness is the ninth book in the Guardian of Eternity series. This installment brings us Cassie and Caine’s story. Cassie is the sister to Harley, Reagan, and Darcy, the genetically altered were quadruplets. To make Cassie even more special, she is a true prophet, able to see the future, and the only one currently alive. Caine is a cur who died and returned a were. He died freeing Cassie from her imprisonment and has now become her protector. Being a prophet makes Cassie a highly prize...more

"[Caine had] stumbled across Cassie in the caves of the demon lord and he'd realized with crystal clarity that she was his reason for existing."

Who can resist a hero like that? Not me. Caine made the ultimate sacrifice, dying to rescue Cassie from hell. He was reborn as a pureblood Were and became her guardian. "My destiny has always been to protect you. Always." You couldn't find a more devoted protector than Caine. He's also a sexy alpha.

Cassie is the prophet, and as such she is the most soug...more

Fear the Darkness was a fabulous book. Caine & Cassie’s story sucked me in so completely that I read this story so fast. If I didn’t need sleep to function I would have read in one sitting.

I got this ARC via Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. Alexandra Ivy has done it again. I loved this latest book in her "Guardians of Eternity" series even more than the last one. It was so exciting! Of course , Càine has long been one of my favorite alpha males. He's the original bad ass no longer since he has found Cassandra, his true mate. Cassie is the prophet. Caine has his work cut out for him as he tries to save his mate from the Dark Lord. This book has everything that kept me î...more

Not my favorite at all...it could be, after 9 books, I'm just tired of these guys. I did like Caine. I like Cassie with him. But after they finally admitted and acted on their feelings....it fell flat. There's a lot of action in this book. Not big smexy action, more ultimate evil vs. goodness fighting action. And every time I read "dark lord" I thought of Harry Potter. I may have even giggled. Maybe. I think what has me a bit bored is that each of the couples is so much alike. Strong, sort of "...more

Grade: B

“Charming vampire is an oxymoron”

Cassandra, aka Cassie, is a pure blood Wer and one of four quadruplets sisters that were stolen as babies and lost to the King of the Wers and his pack. Cassandra was taken and used for her gifts of seeing the future and turns out to be a prophet who will play a huge role in the rise or fall of the Dark Lord. Because of her gift Cassie is sought after by players on both sides of the war but Cain...more

This was like a full cast reunion! Everyone from the previous books is there for the seemingly grand finale. But from the epilogue, I don't think so.

Caine and Cassie's story began in the previous books and their development as a couple is pretty straightforward. The book is more about the continuation of the Dark Lord's bid for dominance. I forgot how complex the world has gotten until all the characters are brought together in the same place! Definitely not a book that you can read standalone....more

I have been meaning to pick up the books in this series forever. Somehow I have just not got around to it. I am an idiot. This is book nine, I absolutely have to go back and read the previous eight. Strong heroine’s, complex heroes, and super evil villains. A great paranormal soap opera that manages to keep a new reader informed, without making a the story feel repetitive for a long time fan. Vampire’s, Shifter’s, Fae, Demon’s, and all other creature’s of myth fill this book. And little Levet th...more

I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library.
