I thought this one was funnier than most of Annabel's book which I know sounds kind of odd because of the seriousness of the first chapter. But Kelsey is so much the perky California girl and Theo is trying to so hard to be the aloof distant Frenchman that it had me laughing more than once.

But then we get to visit the backroom of le Citadel and it wasn't so funny anymore.

Kelsey was incredibly strong. She wasn't a masochist but she was so very much a submissive. Once she realized it, she became u...more

This story, set amidst circus life, was mesmerizing, intense, deeply erotic. The hero is a hard Dom, a jerk sometimes, there was no hero’s background, why he acts the way he does –key for me- and there were some bdsm scenes with the heroine and someone else that bothered me because I didn’t understand why the hero allowed it (although the heroine consented). What can I say, I really liked this story, even the sweet ending, at odds with the dark tone of the book. Maybe it was just a coincidence t...more

I thought I’d read quite a few Annabel Joseph books but when I look back, I’ve only read Club Mephisto which I very much enjoyed to so I was looking forward to this one. The circus and BDSM sounds like such a mouth-watering combination – all those incredibly fit athletes performing together in perfect harmony in more ways than one.

Kelsey is an ex aspiring American Olympic gymnast who has never quite achieved her aim and has now joined the Cirque du Monde in Paris. She’s mesmerised by Theo, a gyp...more

CIRQUE DU MINUIT was amazing. Annabel Joseph has such a unique and passionate voice in the BDSM romance genre, and her latest novel about performers in a French circus is a perfect example. The story was beautifully written with strong, complex characters, rich descriptions of circus life behind the curtain, and some incredibly hot and kinky scenes. When I think of the circus, BDSM doesn’t exactly come to mind, but Annabel Joseph made it work flawlessly.

The relationship between Kelsey and Theo w...more

"Go away from me and do what you do. Bulldoze on thru life, eating colored sugar and shitting rainbows out of your goddamn ass"

I liked this one. Especially the end. Theo is different in an obnoxious lovable way. It's a little bit like Shannon Miller (olympic gymnast) meets Baryshnikov or the Zsar of Russia. The juxataposition of her innocence and his roughness is dynamic throughout.

There is some public humiliation and dubious consent, that are a little uncomfortable, but the rest of the story is...more

Only Annabel Joseph could make me read a book about the circus...and love it.

I hate the circus, so books about it never even make it into my TBR pile, much less rise to the top. After I read the blurb, I was even less thrilled about the plot of Cirque du Minuit. It was actually about the circus, not just some circus-themed window dressing for a bunch of hot BDSM scenes.

But this was Annabel Joseph. Annabel freaking Joseph. How could I not read it? Hadn’t she made me adore books about dance, of a...more

An act of darkness and angst, passion and drama. An aerial spectacle in dark scarlet silks. The final act of le Cirque du Minuit.

LOVED LOVED THIS STORY!!! I guess I have to admit that I really am biased when it comes to circus and performance-themed stories, especially when infused with fantasy and romance. The gymnast and performer was drawn to this story almost instantly. Being someone who knows what being an athlete and an artist is really like, I related to the characters right off the bat...more

I enjoyed this story a lot. The idea itself was beautiful, the circus element and the imagery kept me captivated. I liked Kelsey and Theo together and I was rooting for them...mostly.

I wasn't a big fan of Theo's behavior -- namely, the slap -- even though it did make sense later. My heart ached for him in the few times he allowed his vulnerability and care for Kelsey to show through.

And my biggest complaint is the added kink for kink sake. It's never explained what Theo is, it's just sort of im...more

This one was pretty hard for me to rate. I liked it for the most part, but it wasn't one of those can't put it down ones. The story was paced decently, not too fast, but it was slow at times. It took a while for me to like Theo, our hero. He's so hard headed, stubborn and sent so many mixed signals that he gave me whiplash. If I was Kelsey, I would've given up on him a long time ago. Fortunately, she didn't and it was because of her, Theo's cold demeanor started to thaw. Towards the en...more

There is no emotion in this book. I don't claim to be an expert on dom/sub relationships, but I've touched enough of the genre to know that it doesn't have to be accompanied by a complete and utter lack of emotion, which sadly, was blatantly obvious in "Cirque de Minuit." The whole book is focused on Theo either teaching Kelsey in the aerial silks and Kelsey in bed. There is absolutely no gradual changing of emotions, when emotions are even mentioned, rather an abrupt and completely non-sensical...more

I loved Cirque du Minuit. It was different and orginal then anything else I have read. I loved the dark erotic underground Citadel club, I felt its added something spicy to the story. Kelsey and Theo were an absolute joy to read. They were both finding themselves in this book and also bringing things out in each other. I hope this turns into a series because I want to see more of Lemaitre and Jason. My one critism would be what happened between Lemaitre and Kelsey, I don't mind what happened, I...more

Annabel Joseph really writes the best bdsm erotica. I loved the whole atmosphere in Cirque du Minuit. The descriptions of the performances were so beautiful that I could really imagine what their aerial silks act must have looked and felt like.

The story starts when Kelsey, a gymnast new to circus life, witnesses Theo and his partner in a dom/sub scene. She is very attracted to Theo and intrigued by the bdsm dynamics. Tragedy strikes and Theo is left without a partner. And just as he thinks his...more

This was my 1st Annabel Joseph novel. I knew that she is considered one of the greats of this genre, and I'm so glad I jumped in with this one.

Kelsey was just so likable and gutsy. And Theo was dark and flawed. I enjoyed the entire book, but the final chapter and epilogue really melted me!

While watching some aerial silk duets on youtube, I came across the following video. The couple is performing a beautiful and sensual routine in a tree. It so reminded me of Theo and Kelsey's first time using...more

CIRQUE DU MINUIT was a breathtaking story, and I was quickly pulled into its seductive world. The relationship between Kelsey and Theo was intense. Kelsey has spent a lifetime as the good girl type she is naive and innocent, yet also strong and very stubborn and she's not afraid to speak her mind!.Theo is dark dangerous, he has an the attitude of not giving a fuck and as they come together in the wake of tragedy with Theo.'s former lovers death kelsey cant help but to fell sorry for Theo. she he...more

Cirque du Minuit was another incredible read from Annabel Joseph. This is the wonderful story of Kelsey Martin, a former gymnast and Theo Zamora a career cirque performer. Kelsey has just moved to Paris and joined the Cirque du Monde as one of their newest acrobats. She is adjusting to circus life and the differences between performing and competing with the help of her trainer Jason. But the man who has caught her eye is the temperamenta...more

This is a multifaceted story and another good read from Annabel Joseph. The setting of the Cirque du Minuit or Circus of Midnight reminds me of the Cirque du Soleil, which I've seen and adored, there I saw silk flyers so understood the concept of the act portrayed. Check you tube for examples of a beautiful fluid act where the artistes climb, swing, fly, drop and mesmerize their audience in stunning silk drapes. I loved her Ladybug theme.
The story has many characters that play significant roles...more

Wonderful dark romantic drama 'sigh', I did not want this one to end.
I found Theo twisted and a bit repulsive to begin with, well until you hear his inner dialogue you realise why he is so offensive, belligerent and cruel.
Kelsey what a wonderful character, strong, cheeky, who will fight for what is right, but who through dark exploration, embraces her dark submissive desires, but where it counts will fight for what is right.
So dark, so romantic, so Annabel Joseph, bravo LOVED IT!

Annabel Joseph can do no wrong. In her latest book we meet Kelsey a young, impressionable American training with the circus in France. She sees Theo disciplining his sub and is turned on. She can't help obsesses over him. When tragedy strikes she goes to him to offer her condolences and ends up in bed with him. Thus begins a stormy sexual relationship. Theo is not as hard core as this author's previous males have characters but he is alpha all the way.

What a fabulous read. So entertaining and funny! Some was supposed to be dark but really the absolute banter between the two mains was too much for it and I couldn't stop laughing for most of the book. Even quoted some of the lines to my coworker who laughed right along with me! Especially about the children so white.......favourite part of the book by far and I must say it's in my favourites! But reading most of a book with a french accent was taxing ;)

It was a nice change from all the new self published works out there today. It was well written and flowed with story. The story evolved but I was a bit disappointed that the "who dun it" wasn't a bit more played out. There was only a brief summary to who slit the silk ribbons. I think a bit more could have been elaborated there. I can say that I would be interested in seeing how her other books faired.

I was recommended this book after going on an extended real-life rant over Fifty Shades of Not Understanding Kink Whatsoever, and I have to say, it delivers. The character dynamics are magnetic, the aerial scenes are amazingly beautiful, and there's even a little bit of intrigue. I'm probably never going to be big on M/f, but if you are this is definitely the book for you.

I didn't want this one to end. It is probably the sweetest Annabel Joseph book that I have read, off the top of my head. Not that there wasn't that hint of meanness in Theo, though.

Kelsey was spunky and I loved that about her. But she also wasn't one of these brats that are frequently written about. She was honest in her submission and didn't fight it every step of the way.

One word book review: Magnifique!

I love reading books with a circus theme and mix it with BDSM you have a great combination. While i was reading this i kept thinking of Cirque Du Soleil http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DeVZx...

Really good read! The whole circus thing took some getting used to but overall I very much enjoyed the honesty within the novel - especially when it came down to Kelsey's exploration of true submission which I thought was a more revealing situation about what BDSM is really about in comparison to other novels. Annabel Joseph really has a way of presenting interesting characters in a fair mix of story and sensuality.

This was an okay book. I liked the part about the circus but not all the other stuff as much. I think the writing style was not my thing.

I really hope this is the start to more books in the Cirque world. Loving this theme already.

Yet another great novel from Anabel Joseph. She creates characters that are so real... flaws and all.

Her books border on the darker side of erotica and Cirque de Minuit is no exception. I wish it had been a little longer, just because I didn't want it to end. The plot was well thought out and wrapped up beautifully... although maybe a tad too rushed at the very end.
