So here it is: the conclusion of yet another of my favorite series. Did all the YA writers get together to plot to torture us in 2013?

My favorite thing about Soul Screamers: Kaylee has grown so much over the course of these books. My favorite thing about Soul Screamers: Kaylee has grown so much over the course of these books. As a bean sidthe, or banshee who calls souls of the dead, she started out somewhat naive and unsure of herself, but grew into a strong, admirable young woman. She makes huge sacrifices for her friends and family, but has stayed somebody you'd still want to invite over for popcorn and a movie. 'Cause you know she'd eat some to be polite, even if she doesn't...feel like it.

Other things about the series that are done well: strong family bonds. (Aren't you tired of absent parents or parents who just don't "get" their teens and are nothing more than annoying roadblocks to a good time?) Well-defined secondary characters, many of whom have their own interesting story arcs. Mythology that is well thought out, with cool soul-calling and blood-letting. Humorous dialogue. Emotional turmoil handled in a reasonable way. Realistic depictions of how relationships with friends and exes change, with both anger and sadness. A love triangle that doesn't make you want to kill everyone involved. Sex handled in a way that is tender and funny and true. Cute, cute boyfriend. Swoony ice cream kisses. (view spoiler)

I still loathe Sabine, though. And I wasn't a huge fan of the plot line with Emma that continues on through this book, nor of a certain baby/soul subplot. And unlike in the last two spectacular Soul Screamers books, I was frustrated with Kaylee several times because she kept making all these decisions that were clearly going to lead to no good and hurt people, even if they were made with the best of intentions. But props to the author for handling emotional responsibility and consequence in a way that felt satisfying, even if I didn't necessarily enjoy some of the things that happened.

Overall, With All My Soul offers exactly what you'd want in a series ender: high stakes, heightened romance and feeling, unexpected plot developments, and satisfying emotional resolution. I'll miss having a Soul Screamers book to look forward to in coming years, but I'm happy with how Kaylee's story ended. Fingers crossed we'll get a new YA series from this author soon, too!

I was struggling to form coherent thoughts after I read the final installment of what I consider my all-time favorite YA series. Great ending but I am still so sad it is over! I still need more Tod!

After many weeks of re-reading all my favorite parts from the last few books in the series I finally can put a few thoughts down.

What I love about the series is that each book definitely got better and better. The stakes got higher, the death toll went up, the romance heated, it was a perfect series that I never wanted to end because it never went downhill.

I have never wished for a button that gave more than 5 stars as much as I have today. I am utterly speechless! Every time Rachel Vincent writes a book I always wonder if it could possibly be as good if not better than her last one because the bar she has set is so high! Well, as I have read this series I have learned that I should never doubt her storytelling skills. Ever. I don't know how she does it, but each book written by this wonderful author completely surpasses the last one!

WAMS was the epitome perfection. I could not have asked for a better ending to a series. Everything was resolved in that we no longer have any questions left open and this was accomplished without anything being rushed. I know of a lot of series ending books that I have read that always seemed rushed to me because they tie up all of the loose string extremely fast at the end. I am so happy to say that that is not the case for WAMS. Everything was paced at a reasonable speed and it all made sense. The plot was executed flawlessly.

And that brings me to the plot!!!! Oh. My. Goodness!!!! I know I called Rachel Vincent both an evil genius and pure genius in my Before I Wake review, but that plot has nothing on this one!!!! Holy. Freakin'. Cow. My mind is completely blown away! After all of the heart ache I have endured from this series I just couldn't accept the fate that Kaylee was planning on following. And that moment with Tod? Bring out the tissue box because that will have your eyes bawling! He is too damn sweet. I don't even know how he can exist even as a character in a book. He just can't possibly be real.

Oh this is such a bittersweet review because I can't believe my journey with Kaylee is finally over! I want to be looking forward to the next book, but...there isn't going to be one. I'm so bummed but I'm happy that I was able to enjoy every second of this journey while it lasted. Kaylee has grown into this amazing character and she's probably one of the characters that I admire the most that I have ever read about. She is so strong and brave and good. And did I mention BRILLIANT??? Now I know technically that's the author's brain but WOW! Remember how I said the plot blew my mind? Yeah, that's because Kaylee is brilliant. So. Freakin'. Brilliant. I wish I could tell you all what I'm talking about, but then that would completely ruin the story. Like seriously. If any of you read endings before the actual book, DON'T! First of all, Why would you? Never understood that but to each their own I guess. Haha. But I promise you that you don't want to spoil this ending. It is a beautiful masterpiece that should be saved for the end. That's why it's at the end, right?

*Sigh* I could never do this book nor this series justice no matter how long I make this review. Everything about it is perfect and no amount of words I type would ever suffice. If you have never read a book in this series let alone by this author, you should get on that when you have the chance. I promise you won't regret it ;)(less)

This rating honestly pains me

I have so many conflicted feels.... so very many

It was nice seeing the crew back together one last time.
Kaylee and Todd are still my OTP
Also, without giving anything away, that the last two chapters absolutely gutted me.

Ultimately though, I found With All My Soul to be more than a little disappointing on a number of levels.

I also don't particularly like Nash because he's all about me me me and he's never sacrificed anything for the people he's suppose to care about. And if the selfish little pissant would stop to think for five minutes about someone other than himself he would have probably figured out that reapers aren't recruited from people on the list but those willing to sacrifice for someone who is. I think the only way Nash will ever grow up is if he realizes what his brother sacrificed for him.

Sabine is a bitch and selfish but at least she cares about someone other than herself. At least she's willing to to make that sacrifice for someone else. Also at least she is upfront & honest about her motives and motivations. Which speaking from personal experience is a lot better than being lied to or manipulated and not knowing the reasons why. I have a friend just like her and the one truth I know about her no matter what is that she can be your best friend or worst enemy.

Tod can be and is selfish but at least he's honest about it. And at least he'll do whatever it takes to save the people he loves not matter what and he doesn't apologize or make excuses for it. He thinks beyond what he's sacrificing or his pain to do whatever it takes to ensure the safety of his family & friends. I love characters like him and that's why he's my favorite character in this series.

Sophie was ignorant, spoiled & annoying and part of that is the fault of the people around her. Wanting to keep her out of & blissfully unaware of supernatural forces & issues in a supernatural family. Well such as life goes I think the old saying applies here: Want in one hand shit in the other guess which one you get the most of.

Emma is by far my favorite leading lady in this series. Yeah she got freaked out and yeah she's human but when push came to shove she stood by and supported her friend. And she tried to understand the world Kaylee lived in so that she could be an ear to vent to. Most of the things that happened to Emma could have possibly been avoided if Kaylee would have told her the truth or given her warning because ignorance is not bliss, knowledge is power, and well informed is well armed.

Kaylee I like her but she annoyed from a little to a lot with her self righteous- I can handle this- I carry the weight of the world - naivete. Those are good qualities for people to have in the right dosage but her character was ODing on them. She's too much of a serious do-gooder which is why I think Tod's perfect for her because he balances her out and is willing to make the hard decisions that she isn't able to. think with this book we will finally see Kaylee step into her own and become Tod's perfect balance as well. Plus we'll see how far she is really willing to go to save the innocent.

AHH! I can't wait to find out what happens at the end (even though I'll be devastated to see all those characters go). And that title...shivers...just gorgeous!

There are no words to describe how magnificent this book is. The best ending for a series I've ever had to fortune to read. It literally made me sob. Audio Book Rating: This audio book was narrated by Amanda Ronconi. It took some time to get use to her but having listened to the whole series, I have to say she is just fantastic! Definitely worth the money!!!

Disappointing. Why? Because of Kaylee - she was insufferable. Also, the ending and certain peripheral characters (Nash/Sabine) irritated me. Kaylee bugged me the most though — it's not that she was whiny or vile… It was the fact that she was such an unbelievably unrealistic character.

I love when a series gives you a conclusion that is just perfect in every way possible. I am so happy to have my conclusion, but at the same time I am seriously going to miss these characters. It was very hard to say goodbye!

Kaylee will forever be an absolute favorite of mine. She is such an incredibly strong heroine. She always does what she thinks is right and has no problem risking herself for those she loves. If people doubted her love for her friends and family before, there is no way they can doubt it now. I just love her determination and the way she perseveres.

Then there is Tod and I LOVE him, simple as that. From the very first book I knew I was going to love him. When he made the transition from secondary character to full blow love interest, I was ecstatic. I love his sense of humor and his devotion to his family and how he is willing to do anything for Kaylee. Their relationship is so sweet and so beautiful and just perfect. I have said it before, but it is worth repeating, they make more sense as a couple than Kaylee and Nash ever did. They are perfect for each other and there are no petty insecurities.

Ahhh, Nash. I still have my issues with him, but I was happy to see him grow in this one. Then there is Sabine, who I have grown to really appreciate and even like. She just tells it like it is without reservation. Emma is another one that I love and I really felt for her in this book.

The plot in With All My Soul is fantastic. I couldn’t figure out where the story was going. I was so caught up in the world that I didn’t even try to guess, I just enjoyed the ride. While Before I Wake still remains my favorite of the series, this one is a very close second. I loved the way the story wrapped up and I loved taking the journey with these characters. The world Rachel Vincent created is just frightening. The hellions are not something I ever want to encounter. It seems as if poor Kaylee has caught the attention of so many of them and then this book introduces yet another hellion who has an interest in her. It seems as if she has gotten herself into a mess that she can’t get out of without great sacrifice. I was on the edge of my sea the entire book and when everything climaxed I was literally freaking out. It was just crazy!

All in all, With All My Soul is a fabulous conclusion to one of my favorite series. If you have not read this series yet, I highly recommend you do.(less)

Rachel Vincent introduces a new concept in this final book about soul mates which was intriguing in my opinion, and we also got to meet Ira the hellion of wrath. The book was fast paced, I honestly don't think events extended beyond a week for our characters but it was not horrible since this was the thrilling conclusion to a seven book battle between good and evil. Kaylee's final deceptive plan was extremely clever and I admired for it but it def left the ending bittersweet. (view spoiler)

All in all, I had been nervous with how Rachel Vincent would conclude her series considering she kind of backed herself up against the wall with such indestructible villains, but I was not disappointed! We get the happy ending that Tod and Kaylee deserve although some part of me longed for an epilogue for the romantic couple, but I am still satisfied, I am a little sad to say goodbye but Vincent has given me a series to cherish that I have enjoyed over the years so no regrets, and I look forward to a new possible teenage series!

That ending was so awesome I don't know whether to burst into rainbows or tears.

Kaylee is a genius! How could anyone think her less than the strong, smart, and selfless heroine she obviously is? I just love her to bits.

Great ending to the series! It was really nice to see everyone finally getting along in this book. And yup I liked Nash the entire book not once did I think he's and ass. I concede that the ending of the book was interesting and imaginative but, not enough for me to actually say that I liked the book.

This series started out so well and with a unique angle since banshees are not a common paranormal species that has been written about. How do I even begin to review this book.

Almost four years ago my friend lent me My Soul To Take. I admit I was skeptical, but I trusted her enough to give it a try. From page one I was captivated, unable to put it down until I finished it. Thus began my love affair with the Soul Screamers series. I always had to have the next book. And not a single one of them ever disappointed. Soul Screamers quickly became one of my favorite series, Rachel Vincent one of my favorite authors.

As usual, I can't stop my tears flowing. Actually, more than usual, because I just had to say goodbye to my favorite characters, who have been like my friends since I opened the first page of the first book. We've been through a lot together, I cried a lot because of them, I laughed more than I can count and they really felt like they were my friends.

It’s been a while since I’ve finished the last book in a longer series. Final books are always a double-edged sword for me: on the one hand, I can’t wait to see how everything turns out and to find some sort of closure. On the other hand, this is the final goodbye. Although I’ve only known the characters in Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series for a bit over a year, the thought that I’ll never read about Kaylee, Tod, Nash, Sabine & co again hurts – even if I’m happy with the way their story ended!

The ending of Before I Wake left me reeling. So many dead! Emma in a new body. Her sister still pregnant. Avari and the other hellions still a threat. Well, let me say that Kaylee is sick and tired of being threatened. In this last book of the series, she is struggling with an emotion we previously don’t notice as much in her: anger. Such a wealth of it, in fact, that she captures the attention of Ira, a hellion of Wrath. Now before you think ‘great, another hellion is just what she needed’ let me tell you that Ira is quite different from the other hellions in the books. He’s dangerous as they come, of course, but I actually… liked him. I was fascinated by him. That fact that he’s described as rather handsome didn’t hurt, neither did his obvious distaste for Avari. And though his price is steep, he could help Kaylee free herself from Avari… if she is willing to pay.

My pulse is the wave of anger washing over the crowd. The swin of a corpse from the noose. The final twitch of a man murdered in revenge. I know you, Kaylee Cavanaugh. I know you very, very well, and I can give you what you want most in the world." (With All My Soul, page 82)

I really liked that we got to see Kaylee angry for once: It only makes sense. The book starts with Emma’s funeral, which Emma is attending in the body of the girl that used to be Lydia. Then there is Emma’s sister, pregnant with an incubus baby and determined to keep it even though it will probably be her death sentence. Furthermore, Avari has once more abducted some of the people that are most precious to her. In short, Kaylee has every right to be pissed and she wants to free herself and her loved ones of this hellion threat once and for all.

Yet as always, she isn’t alone in this mess, and there are a lot of discussions among the group about taking risks. I liked this because the others called Kaylee out on her sometimes a bit hypocritical habit of wanting to face all the dangers for those she loves and not granting others their right to do the same thing. The group dynamic and dialogue in the book were fantastic, as always! Sabine is of course a great addition to that, and I love how she gets so many mean-but-true lines!

Emma’s character arc was another part of the book I really enjoyed. The transition from one body to another wasn’t exactly smooth for her, and she has to face the truth that she’s actually quite a bit more vain than she thought. Instead of blond, tall, and curvy she is now rather flat and mousy. She isn’t used to nobody paying her any attention. Add to that the fact that Lydia’s body is providing her with a new set of abilities she is struggling to control, and that she has to watch her family mourning her own death. Oh, and let’s not forget that her body is technically that of an asylum escapee… and you know how hard these places are to check out of, right?

Then, of course, there’s the romance *sigh* I love Tod and Kaylee so much. They have the type of relationship I’d hope to find with someone one day. They support one another but give each other their space. I love how they’re equal to each other, able to stand on their own, but stronger together. And yes, we do get some wonderful, swoon-worthy scenes between the two of them… but also plenty bittersweet ones. Especially towards the ending, when Kaylee has to make a difficult and painful decision.

I don’t really know what else I can talk about without spoilers. Let’s just say that even though With All My Soul didn’t pack the same emotional punch that If I Die and Before I Wake had for me (I don’t know why, might just be me/the mood I was in) it is definitely a worthy conclusion to the series! It continues the great mixture of painful/gruesome scenes and fun dialogue I enjoy so much. Once it gets going, you will not want to put it down, and there’s a twist I really wasn’t expecting!

In the end, all the plot strands and questions are resolved, but there is also a certain openness regarding the futures of those who survive, which I think is a great balance. Ira is a surprising but genius addition to the series and I’m kind of sad that we only get to spend one book with him. If you’ve been scared to read this last book and see the series end I can tell you this: it will not be painless, but it will leave you satisfied, so go out and get it already ;) (less)

My Thoughts

5 stars is not enough for this beautiful conclusion for one of the most captivating series I have ever read.

When you have been emotionally involved with an entire series like Soul Screamers, it is extremely hard to let go. You want to know how it ends so badly but you don't want to say goodbye!!

All the questions we readers have been asking will finally be answered in this book and many characters finally find the truth about themselves.

The last book in this absolutely amazing series... I don't want to wait!

This was well worth the wait, but at the same time I am so sad this series is over. This has become one of my favorite YA series ever, and I will greatly miss these books.

There's not a lot I can say without spoiling not only this book but the entire series. What I will say, is that I sobbed throughout the last 50 or so pages and had no idea how this whole thing would turn out. Also, (view spoiler)...more

I have no words. There are no words that do this book justice.

All I can really say now is thank-you, thank-you, THANK-YOU for bringing these characters and this world to life. Thank-you for creating such a dynamic story that is so different to anything I've read within the YA fantasy/paranormal genre. And most of all, Rachel Vincent, I can't thank you enough for giving me a copy of With All My Soul.

And now I shall return to crying hysterically while I read the series again from the beginning.
