James Devlin was raised to believe he was a bastard child; the product of the affair of his titled father and his chambermaid mother. Although he was a bastard, he was given the opportunity to receive a good education and he used that education to become a barrister. He earned his own living so he would never need to depend on his unwanted family ever. James can’t determine what is more shocking; that his disapproving grandmother comes calling, that she advise James of his father’s passing or th...more

Very readable and enjoyable with a sexy, rogue of a barrister that finds himself elevated to the position of Duke. He purchases a former home of his father's and arrives at midnight to find a genteel but luscious looking widow in residence who claims she purchased the house as well! Great scenes between the two, the growing romance was well paced. The subsequent sub-plots did not hold my attention as much as this couple did. I certainly recommend~
I really enjoyed this book. I never once got bored with it. Both lead characters were very likeable. The hero is James, who has dark hair, blue eyes and is thirty-three years old. There was instant attraction when he met the heroine, widowed twenty-four year old Bella. She has auburn hair and green eyes. She was in a bad marriage to an older, abusive man for seven years and was very unhappy…..until James came along.
I liked the mystery that was going on in the story. Was someone out to get Bella,...more
