Dragon's Moon was my first Paranormal Historical Romance book and I'm happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised! The period writing style and Scottish dialogue took some getting used to but once I adjusted it was easy to get sucked in by this remarkable story. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with sexy Highlanders, dragons and wolves! I haven't read the other three installments in Lucy Monroe's Children of the Moon series but luckily for me, that didn't seem to matter...more

Fourth in the Children of the Moon historical paranormal romance series. The couple focus is on Prince Eirik and Ciara Donegal and covers 1142 to 1149.
My Take
This is the equivalent of reading about Dick and Jane for adults. It's actually a great premise for a story. It's just too bad that Monroe's editors couldn't bring up the quality of the sentences. Nor did they pay attention to the language used. Yes, it's bad enough that it is very noticeable. "Stay on topic". Really??? A twentieth century...more

Awesome addition to the Children Of The Moon series. The fourth story in this series features Eirik ( dragon / raven shifter) & Ciara ( wolf shifter) . Ciara was traumatized after watching her beloved brother getting incinerated by a dragon after he & his friend threatened two young raven shifters. After her mother kills herself that same night a despondant Ciara is sent to foster with the Sinclair clan ( Talorc & Abigail from Moon Craving ) . Fast forward several years to a grown up...more
There were things about this book I liked. There were things about this book I did not like. In the end, I found that the dislikes overpowered the likes, and therefore, I am giving this book a 2.5 for a rating.
So as not to be a complete jerk, I'll start with what I did like. Ciara's adopted family was pretty awesome. It was clear that they cared deeply for her, even if she was unable to return the feelings. I loved how protective everyone was of her. Also, the romance was pretty decent. I alway...more

3.5 stars - I have read all of Monroe's Children of the Moon books and have liked her wolf shifter romances set in medieval Scotland enough to stick with the series even though there were some pretty long waits between the first few. I have also liked that recently Monroe had expanded her world to include avian shifters, but her leading man this time topped them all – Dragon shifter. In a kilt. Need I say more?

Do not miss this one! Taken from my review at RomanceJunkies.com:
Faol wolf-shifter Ciara had lost her father and her mother had become just a shell of herself, not speaking, just sitting and staring at the walls. So Ciara and her brother, Galen, were there for each other. However, lately Galen, influenced by his evil friend Luag and hunted for the Ean, who, although raven shifters, were also part of her people. Following her brother and Luag on a hunt one day, she watched as they tormented two E...more

I disliked this book strongly. I was like, fifty pages from the end when I put it down because I was so irritated.
It's not a bad book by all means, but after the first two which I really, really enjoyed, then the third one which I hated, this just, ugh. I couldn't buy into the characters or the plot and I feel like the magic of the earlier books were lost entirely.
I had high hopes after reading the opening chapter and I think that's why I'm so mad that every little thing just got under my skin...more

I once read the words "an enigma of personalities" and this totally describes Lucy Monroe's characters Eirick and Clara in her fourth installment of "The Children of the Moon" series! Ms. Monroe writes so clear and vivid that the two protagonists journey toward love envelops you so that you cheer, cry and sigh with Eirick and Clara through hurt and misunderstanding and finally to their bond as truemates! Don't miss this series or just this book and root along with us on the journey of their unde...more
Maybe I was expecting too much for this book...so I am now a little disappointed. The dragon shifter Eirik is ok, but not so original: usual alpha male. The lady...Ciara...well, I have a hard time to say some good thing of her. The story...is ok, but no more. No humor (where are the rich and funny dialogues or scenes of the first two novels?), no sense of connection (like in the third novel), too much magic involved and not smart magic, simply aged one. The best moments are those in wich we can...more
3.5 stars. I just didn't get as pulled into this one as much as the others, there were a few times I was confused and the characters didn't pull me in as much. It seemed too rushed and easy at the ending. I think this one needed to be longer and more fleshed out. Not bam, we won, here are all these gifts and now we love each other. Why wasn't the little girl with no wolf, daughter of the laird of the B... clan not there to also receive a wolf? 7 years after the last book Barr should not still be...more
This book bordered on boring IMO, which was hugely disappointing. I absolutely loved the first three novels in this series, but this one just fell flat for me. Ciara and Eirik totally lacked whatever spark that Emily/Lachlan and Talorc/Abigail and Niall/Gaire had, which was a bummer because there was so much potential. And the whole subplot involving Mairi and Lais just bored me to tears. I'll still read the next installment, but I won't be pre-ordering it like this one. I'll wait patiently for...more

I'm not quite sure where to start...
There was way too much time in between books
I have read too many books in between this book & the last 3 that I forgot some details that were necessary to remember & there was no recap. Some things I remembered nearly 3/4 of the way through. These books were written to be read in order!! With no recap, it would make no sense if you don't.
It missed key points to state near the beginning of the book.
Abigail is a main supporting character in this book &...more

Really enjoyed this installment to the series!! Looks like things are heating up and war is coming. Eirik and Ciara had a lot to overcome in this book, but everything came right in the end. Why do they always try to resist the mating bond? It's so futile. The secondary romance between Lais and Mairie was equally sweet to watch unfold. I'm really looking forward to finding some members of the long-lost Paindeal soon.
I just love fantasy and paranormal books. In this book, Dragon's Moon, I got the best of both worlds.
Eirik is a dragon shifter and a prince responsible for the safety of his people. As leader, he is forced to make a brutal decision. He needs to give up his leadership in order to save his people. Because of a terrible mistake he made as a young dragon that resulted in the death of two wolves, but saved his cousin's life, Eirik feels that this sacrifice is the least he can do. He needs his people...more

Children of the Moon is worth seeking out, particularly if you're into historic/paranormal/Highlander romances. :) Lucy Monroe does a great job at working those seemingly disparate genres into something cohesive and compelling. This was a solid entry in the series (dragon shifter, whew!) and it's fun to see the different parts of this world coming together.

Very much enjoyed this book though I do wish I had started at the beginning of the series. I really enjoyed the rare dragon shifter aspect. The liberal use of 'Twas was a bit jarring but Ciara and Eirik are fun characters and I would definitely like to see more of them.
I received this book in a goodreads first reads giveaway. I was worried about starting a book mid series but luckily I found it easy to follow. What I liked about this book was the fact that it wasn't an instant romance but was a bit slower(at least with Erik and Ciara). There is also a decent amount of action in the story so it's not all romance. I loved the story of Erik and Ciara and the sub-story of Lais and Mairi. I plan on reading the first 3 books in the series.
I liked the relationship between Eirik and Ciara. I liked their mate bond. The story was interesting and didn't lag in the middle. I wish their had been bore heat. Lais's and Mairi's story was okay. I wish to have more of the story of Artair and Gart. A good story that I enjoyed and will read more.
WOW, this book got me on so many different emotions. The ability that Lucy has of taking you into her world and letting you feel as if your are actually part of the storyline. This series is amazing! I honestly hate when I get to the end of each book ...why...because I am not ready for it to be over for me. I almost envy a reader who has not started yet so that they can read one book right after the other.... loved loved loved it.!
I would have preferred that Lais and Mairi's story be a separate book rather than including them in this one, but overall I liked the characters and the main storyline. Fans of Lucy Monroe will enjoy this addition to the series.
I really enjoyed this entry in the Children of the Moon series. I loved the addition of the dragon shifter, and look forward to meeting the last of the three races - the cat shifters - hopefully in the next book? The characters were, as always, wonderfully fleshed out and drew me right into the story. I love this series and cannot wait to read the next entry in July! :)
