Once I sat down and finally got into the story, it drew me in. The transitions between the present and the distant past seemed to be distracting at first, but then I finally realized they were necessary for the story.

I liked how the author kept it clean, and Deacon was a likeable character. He felt true emotions for what he was going through. This showed his human side. I also liked how this was not another retread copy of another story that was been hashed over and over. It was refreshing to fi

Excellent! When I started this book I wasn’t sure what to expect because one plot can seem to be really interesting, the summary captivating and in the end the book doesn’t reach the quality we hoped, it happens and make us sad. Now, this book is the total opposite! The summary intrigued me, tempted me but the book is even better. I couldn’t close it once I s

What an imagination!

I was rather impressed with the concept behind 'Deacon Leeds and the Pyramid of Symbols'. The story is about two young men .. who do not get along.. stuck together in Antarctica. Their fathers both work at the scientific station. On the evening before they're due to fly out.. someone discovers a gold pyramid sunk down in the ice... where it must have been left 70,000 years ago! The pyramid has a number of symbols upon it.. somewhat like ancient Egyptian.. but, not quite. They

This is an enjoyable little YA novel. I was in the mood for something fun and young and this hit the spot. It is adventurous and imaginative. I enjoyed the magical world Mr. Morris created. Job well done.

I admit, I wasn't thrilled with the first 50% or so of the book. The constant back and forth between Deacon and Kyra was okay at first, but it dragged on. I get it that it's supposed to set up the world of Kyra before Deacon ever gets there, but considering how it ended, it was not necessary. It could have been "discovered" at the same time Deacon discovers these facts or summed up in a paragraph or two. I am planning on getting the rest of the books since I doubt they will have chapters long hi ...more

Although this did not have any notification of being a "young adult" work, it should have. Don't know where the high ratings came from as the characters were just not all that believable. The story also was slightly off-putting until the author finally brought everyone together and then it was something else. Just another free Kindle book that I read through only to see how it all came to an end...but was even disappointed with that.
