This story is interesting because it covers a lot of topics we have allusion about eugenism when people from Labateen are killed at birth if there aren’t perfect physically, and also when we heard about some of other planets and civilisation. We also have the theme of no violence versus attack how must one react when he firmly beliefs in non violence when one wants to kill everything should he stay true to his belief and die or acts di...more

I liked the storey's plot a lot. It reminded me of the Dr. Who series in some ways, but Child of Destiny is unique. The heroine is a cave girl, and I always liked strong female lead characters. She is brutal in this book! She cuts a man's throat and kills another with an axe blow to the neck. I think it is the action scenes I like the best, but they can get violent at times. There is also a lot of emotion. For example, when Kara leaves her little friend Krista has to be left behind.

Anita is a k...more

I got the Kindle version of Child of Destiny shortly after it first came out. The story is about an outcast woman from a primitive culture who comes in contact with species from an advanced culture. They have landed on her planet in a time/space machine, although they don’t know how or why their capsule materialized on Kara’s world. Usually, science fiction books are not of interest to me, but I found the characters fascinating. Kara is a religious nature girl, while Anita is a giant Amazon. But...more

Kara is an outcast. She bears a mark on her head. Something that makes you imperfect. Something that makes you evil. But her mom couldn't kill her daughter which was the duty of all the Labateen mothers who found imperfections on their newborns but Kara's mom saw a vision. Her daughter was there for something special. God had shown it to her. So when it was finally revealed what Kara was she was sent away but not before being saved by her mother.

The world is in turmoil. There is something in the...more

I think the next book in the series is better than this one, but this book was fun to read. Child of Destiny seems to be an introduction, so a lot of background stuff is presented. There are some nice action scenes though. The fight scenes are excellent! I like Kara, Anita, and Ezra, but I hate Ral. He is opinionated and angry, and reminds me of some people I do not like. But he is a machine! I hope he gets killed in some of the later books, or maybe turned off! This is a very imaginitive use of...more

This book was horrible. It felt like the author wrote a screenplay for a really bad aliens attacking the world porno and it got rejected so he took the sex out (but left in the almost always naked cave woman) and made a book out of it instead. And the fact that there are two more already in the works for this series boggles my mind.

I received Child of Destiny free through Goodreads First Reads.

It was not what I was expecting, but still a nice read. I found that the story didn't flow well in some parts and the illustrations were a distraction.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read.
