There's always something to worry about when reading the sequel to a book you love. If your expectations are high, you may worry about feeling let down if the second book in a series doesn't live up to the first. As much as I loved book 1, I was hoping that Finding My Faith would capture me the same way. It did!

I loved Rayner and Faith. Faith was one of those headstrong heroines who is not stupid or annoying her independence, and Rayner was the perfect blend of alpha male and heart.

FINDING MY FAITH is the second instalment and March 2012 release in Carly Fall’s Six Savior series. I have not had the chance to read the intro novel-The Light Within Me, and I was worried that perhaps the premise would be lost, without the background information. But Carly Fall included much of the series premise throughout the storyline, which in my opinion, is great. I love an author that is able to blend the series premise into each story so that a new reader is not lost. The series is paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi.

Background: 6 saviors warriors from planet SR44: Rayner, Hudson, Noah, Cohen, Jovan & Talin. The warriors were sent to earth 211 years ago to stop and eradicate the 12 murderers who escaped from one of the moon colonies of planet SR44. The Colonists, as they were soon called, made their way to Earth, took the human body form, mated with the females and populated the earth with Colonist DNA. The savior warriors are part of the elite military from planet SR44, commissioned to remove the Colonists from Earth. The beings on planet SR44 are incorporeal bodies of mist and smoke, each bearing a different color, but in their corporeal bodies on Earth, their eyes will glow their familiar- planet SR44 color each evening. Rayner’s color is red.

Rayner Johnson is a warrior with a special gift. Unlike Hudson or Noah who had gifts that were welcome and useful, Rayner believed his gift was useless-with the ability to see spirits caught in the ‘ether’-the regions between life and death. But when Rayner, Hudson and Cohen are assigned to a case of 5 missing women, Rayner is stunned when he recognizes one of the missing females. Her spirit had inadvertently crossed paths earlier in the day with Rayner. And she was beautiful.

Faith Cloudfoot moved to Phoenix Arizona to start a life without the scrutiny of her overprotective parents. She was a restless child always on adventures and treks of discovery, and as a young woman she could no longer sit still and headed to the big city. With her long red hair, Faith was revered in the community of Native American Navajo. According to legend “The Woman With Fire for Hair” would join with “The Red Eyed Wolf Warrior’ and their son would heal the earth. Faith’s sense of unease increased daily-it felt like someone was watching and following her. But when she woke up in a cell with 4 other women, she knew that what she was sensing was real. Unable to recall what had happened, Faith realized that her now drug-induced spiral would only get worse, when her spirit separated from her body. With her corporeal body hovering close to death, Faith was desperate to make contact with the only person who could see her spirit.

Faith had no idea why she and the other women had been abducted, but the only person who had the ability to ‘see and talk’ with her was a tall, gorgeous warrior-like man. With his ability to communicate with Faith, Rayner soon recognized that her kidnapping was not just a part of a series of abductions, but one that was connected with the Colonists that the warriors were commissioned to hunt. Using the information gathered from Faith, Rayner and the others located the abandoned and hidden entrance to an underground cell, where the only woman still breathing was Faith. The common link between the 5 women-all the missing females had red hair.

The relationship between Faith and Rayner had its humorous moments when it appeared Rayner was constantly talking to himself, while communicating with Faith’s spirit. The couple worked well together as Faith’s spirit directed Rayner in the search for her body and talking with her parents about her abduction. But when Faith’s spirit and body were finally re-blended, Rayner’s demeanor was cold and aloof. But the smoke beings of planet SR44 had been taught that to fall in love while making love to a human woman would cease their immortal existence and they would begin to age as a human. But Rayner was not the first savior warrior to fall in love with a human woman, but he also knew that Noah’s mate was not entirely human. But falling in love is more difficult knowing that Faith’s feelings for Rayner are just as strong. And the Navajo legend of the Woman with Fire for Hair and The Red Eye Wolf Warrior would never come into fruition because of Raynor’s need to return home to planet SR 44. But it is Faith’s ability to ‘detect’ the possibility of the Colonists that was of interest to the Warrior’s from planet SR44.

Returning Faith to her parent’s care, Raynor soon realizes he has made a bigger mistake than just breaking her heart- he has put the Cloudfoot family is danger from the Colonists. But it is too late for the family when Faith is once again missing and her parents are no longer on this plane of existence. But his need for Faith overwhelms his desire to remain immortal, and Raynor goes on a search and rescue for the human female who would one day be his mate.

Finding My Faith and the Six Saviors series has an interesting premise. Blending sci-fi with fantasy allows for a broader audience in several different genres. The interesting use of the hereditary smoke and eye color added freshness to the story telling genre, that is always welcome to a voracious reader, such as myself. I am looking forward (or backward) to reading her first book in the series-The Light Within Me. I have no problem recommending this series. Six Saviors Series by Carly Fall.

Three of the six warriors are in Phoenix tracking a lead and Rayner is the only one that can see Faith's spirit (he sees spirits trapped between life and death) and the attraction is immediate. Rayner wants to go home to SR44 and falling in love can mean that will never happen but he almost loses Faith and that becomes more important.

I am not a huge sci-fi fan but this series has a groupie! Faith is kidnapped by a colonist and her spirit leaves her body. She is alone and afraid until she meets Rayner who can actually see her spirit. The chemistry is instant between these two. Rayner is determined to help Faith but at what cost? If he falls in love with physical intimacy he will lose his SR44 form. As they spend more time together they realize how much they have in common and to Faith, Rayner represents many of the NA legions she had grown up hearing about.

I found myself laughing throughout the book. People thought Rayner was crazy talking to himself when he was talking to Faith's spirit. Rayner was doing everything possible to stay away from Faith; because of the temptation of having her while the sexual tension between them grew. The warriors are great secondary characters and the unique gifts they all have, especially Hudson. I look forward to his story. We also are re-visited by Noah and Abby and see a female relationship start between her and Faith. I am looking forward to the next book.

Being someone who has not had the pleasure to read the first book in this series, The Light Within Me, I was glad that the author provided some background information. Because of this, one doesn't have to have read the first book to understand Finding My Faith. Being someone who has not had the pleasure to read the first book in this series, The Light Within Me, I was glad that the author provided some background information. Because of this, one doesn't have to have read the first book to understand Finding My Faith. In fact, I became really curious about Noah and Abby's story when they were introduced in this book, and I can't wait to go back and read their story for myself. Because I have not read The Light Within Me, I can base this review solely on Finding My Faith, since I have nothing to compare it to.

I loved how Finding My Faith has a mix of genres; there's a little bit of something for everyone: sci-fi action, supernatural abilities, and sweet romance. All of this is blended so well together that this book can't be put into just one genre.

It might seem kind of cheesy, but I really liked how Rayner and Faith always seemed to have everything in common. Not only are their backgrounds similar (each grew up in the forests of their respective homelands), but they also just so happen to like the same foods and TV shows. Their both spiritual people and love nature and the outdoors. And both are free-spirits; although Rayner lost that when he came to Earth, meeting Faith made him want to live again instead of just floating along.

I love legends and folklore, so I really like the legend of The Woman With Fire for Hair and the Red-Eyed Wolf Warrior. The legend states the a woman of the Navajo with flaming red hair and an man with glowing red eyes will produce a son that will be able to harness the earth's energy. This son will only be born when the Earth needs him most, it could be a few years or hundreds of years until he's born. Until then, The Woman With Fire for Hair and the Red-Eyed Wolf Warrior will not age, the Warrior will not lose his wolf spirit, and only after then son is born will they begin to age as humans do. This legend really works in Rayner and Faith's favor. Neither of them will age until their son is born, and who knows how long that will be. And Rayner won't lose his SR44 form (though the legends says wolf spirit, for Rayner it's his SR44 form).

I was kind of disappointed that we never got to see the Colonist's demise. With how hyped up Hudson ans Cohen were to hunt him down, I was looking forward to seeing his downfall. Everyone likes seeing the bad guy lose in the end, but we just don't see it in Finding My Faith. Also, the Colonists are portrayed as these vicious killers, but the Colonist in this book just wasn't. It was just disappointing reading about how they are trying to catch and kill this Colonist and we never get to see it when they finally do.

Other than my issue with how weak I found the Colonist to be, I really loved Finding My Faith. I can't wait to see what's next for the Six Saviors.(less)

Raynor fights his overwhelming feelings for Faith because he desperately wants to return to his home planet one day. And falling in love, especially if he acts on the emotion, will separate him from his alien form forever. The struggle gets even more difficult once they are together in the flesh. But falling in love isn't the only danger. The Colonist who kidnapped Faith has no plans to let her get away.

If you liked The Light Within Me, you'll enjoy this one too. The tone is the same and the internal conflict for the hero is identical. The spiritual element is new, but even the plot is much the same. Warrior loves woman. Warrior fights his feelings because he doesn't want to become human. Colonist targets woman. Warrior realizes the woman is more important than anything and they live happily ever after.

I felt like there was a bit of repetition. And the info dump at the beginning felt almost exactly like the one I read in the first book. Just like the first installment, our characters fall In Love at lightning speed. This time around, the author explains it as normal for men of their species, but it still stunts the believability of the emotional connection.

There were also a few grammatical errors. Between that and the repetition, this installment felt a little less polished than its predecessor. 3 stars.

I won’t recap (too much) of the story since you have the blurb above. Faith Cloudfoot is an Native American young lady in her 20s who wants to experience life away from her over protective parents. She is part of a prophesy her tribe believes in, having been born with flaming red hair. When she is kidnapped suddenly while walking home after work, she spirit leaves her body. Not dead, but not doing so good on the living part, no one can see her. Except for Rayner.

Rayner Johnson (Johnson is a not really his last name since his planet doesn’t do last names) is from the planet SR44. When a group of Colonist break free of their prison, Rayner and five warriors are sent to earth to hunt them. Now 200 years later, they are still on the hunt with the worst people in human history as descendants of the Colonists. When a Colonist performs a bad action, he leaves behind what is called ash which the SR44 warriors can pick up and trail.

The warriors track serial type crimes and when a bunch of young ladies with red hair disappear, they send in three warriors to investigate. While out doing investigation work, Rayner sees Faith, but pretends not too. He can only reunite people with their bodies if they know where the body is and they need to have someone they love and who loves them back when he performs the ritual. Later he finds out Faith is one of the kidnapped women and goes in search of her.

The story kind of moves slowly from there. They meet up to try and figure out things, but seem to waste time. Once they watch TV at her apartment for hours. This is how they fall in love, but as a few days go by, Faith almost dies because they are almost too late. The big drama of Rayner falling in love is that he reverts to his human form for the rest of his short life as the people from his planet live for 1000 years. All Rayner wants to do is finish finding all the Colonist and go home. So he tries over and over not to fall in love with a human, which would end his chances of going home forever.

There were some other things that were kind of silly but not enough to ruin the story. On SR44, the people do not have a really physical form, but are made up of “smoke” like substance in various colors. So when the warriors come to earth, they are using a human form to blend in, but at night their eyes glow with colors. At one point the author says it looks like Easter Egg colors. Rayner’s is red, but he uses painful contacts at some points to hide it.

Overall, it was a decently solid sci-fi/fantasy story with a love story angle. The warriors were fierce, but also had soft sides to themselves. The humans were human as you would expect. The plot was a little weak, but overall, it was just decent book for a fun afternoon of reading.(less)

After loving and giving 5 stars to the first book in the series, I was somewhat disappointed with book 2. First the good - There was a good amount of humor and a good amount of detective-type thriller, that is inline with the 1st book. I laughed for a good five minutes over Hudson's ring-tone. The romance wasn't as hot as book one, but it was sweet which I think better fit Rayner and Faith. There was a deeper exploration of the point of view of the Colonist in this book, which I really enjoyed.

This was/is a totally different reading experience, and one that I'm enjoying.

This was another great read in Carly Fall's Six Saviors series, and each one of the warriors is growing on me more and more. Rayner and Faith's story was more of an emotional one than the previous book. I attribute that to the fact that Faith was a spirit for most of the story, and one can't have "relations" with a spectre. That allowed the hero and heroine to gradually learn about each other and learn to trust, as well as to fall in love.

I really liked Faith. Not just for her heritage and the fascinating legends surrounding Native Americans, but she had fire in her veins. She was adventurous, brave, kept a cool head and she went after what she wanted. She was definitely a female well suited for a warrior. When she learned the truth about Rayner, she didn't react negatively. Another point that I credit to her upbringing.

Rayner was a very kind and gentle alpha male. Perhaps his life on his home planet as a forest dweller made him an excellent match for Faith. Both love nature, one of them believes in legends and one of them is practically a legend. Like the others, he yearns to return to his home planet. So when he falls in love, he will have to decide what he wants more - home or the girl? Of course the outcomes are predictable, but seeing each individual come to a conclusion is what makes reading this series so enjoyable.

I liked their chemistry. It was more nurturing than sizzling for the first half of the book, but you felt the underlying current. The only thing that stood in their way was finding her body. But afterwards things pick up, and take a rather devastating turn. Even then, Faith seemed to find the warrior within herself and was, in my eyes, an equal to Rayner in every way.

I think these books could be read out of order or even as a stand alone. So far there's always a brief recap of the warriors history in each one, so you're never really lost. But I would still recommend you get to know them in the order they were written.

I really like the concept for this book. My main problem with it is that it was highly repetitive and I felt a little preached too. Forest Dwellers/Native Americans were a little too idolized for me. That concept just didn't seem to have much depth. It seemed more like a really convenient vehicle for the author to resolve some issues. So more like 2.5 stars but rounded up to three. I am ambivilent about getting the other books in the series unless they are less than $1.00.

This was a great second installment to the SIX SAVIORS, I found myself enthralled with the story and events. Wishing for one thing, hoping against the odds. I was unable to put the book down it was fantastic! I can't wait to read the third one , Hudsons Story!!
