This is a fairly short read, I read it in matter of hours.
One word comes to mind - it was sweet. A very sweet love story.

Sunny is exactly what her name is. She has all these problems, huge debt, working a thousand jobs to pay them off, but she doesn't let anything put her down. She is a real ray of sunshine and she has this effect on everyone she's around, it's no wonder everyone loves her.

And it's no wonder Sam eventually lets her break down those huge walls around his heart. I must say I liked...more

I loved this book! If you are looking for a story to make you feel good and believe in love, SUNNY DAYS FOR SAM is the book for you! Once I started reading this book, I couldn't stop. I just had to know what was going to happen to sunny and Sam. I was afraid Sam was going to let his past get in the way and cloud his judgement of Sunny. I thought his mother had too much of an influence on his life. She surprised me. I can't wait to read more by this author! Great job Jennifer. Thank you for allo...more

Now that that's out of my system...

This was just...too hokey for me. I read the synopsis, so I knew before going in that it was one of those "eternal optimist meets formidable grouch" love stories. What I didn't know was its particular level of smarm, and how thoroughly uninspiring the romance was going to be. I didn't think romances even came this bland and boring. And some of it didn't even make sense. I mean, I understood that Sam was jaded about romance, and I understood why, but he ju...more

This was a really cute story and makes you believe in love. Once I started reading it I didn’t want to put it down.
Sunnyva “Sunny” Fletcher is a sweet happy girl, the kind everyone likes. She is kind, loving and compassionate character even though she is having some financial problems, but not because of her doing. Sunny takes any job she can even being a princess at an amusement park working for an employer that is not that easy to work for, that is until she is fired for being late after help...more

If a reader loved the film, Enchanted, then this story should appeal because Sunny’s character is as chipper, optimistic and loving as a person could wish without being mired in over-sugary or tooth-ache inducing sweetness. Sunny Days for Sam is the kind of book that's perfect for a rainy day or when life hands you a platter of sour grapes. It’s uplifting, happy and truly romantic.

There's a delightful cast of characters who bring this...more

This is a very sweet, funny and romantic story and I a lot of fun reading it. The heroine, Sunny, was sweet, a little quirky but a very loveable person. I liked the way her character was clearly defined in the first few paragraphs as we learned about her life, her job and her heart in a few very cleverly written paragraphs. I love it when I feel that I really know who a character is.

The hero, Sam, is a sad, withdrawn widower with two children. The children are adorable, but are real children wit...more

When Sunnyva “Sunny” Fletcher came back home to take care of her dying grandmother, she had not expected it would put her life in a stalemate. With the hospital bills piled up and needs to be met, she doubts even in twenty years she will be able to move past the mountain in debt, always one to look at the bright side though Sunny finds any job she can get her hands on and tries to chip away at it.

Sam Calloway maybe cynical about people, but his children mean everything to him. After their mother...more

What a darling story!! Sunny moved back to town to care for her dying grandmother and is left with a huge medical debt. She is working like crazy to get things paid off so that she can return back to college. When workaholic Sam moves to town for the summer with his two small kids and is in need of a nanny, Sunny somehow manages to get the job.

I love how bright, sunny, and cheerful Sunny is. She's had a rough go in life, but she doesn't let it bring her down. Her name definitely fits her. Sam i...more

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. Thank you to the author and to goodreads.

This book was super sweet and easy to read. Sunny, like her name, is extremely vibrant and bubbly. Sam is a workaholic who has his priorities wrong.

This book was fun to read. I enjoyed the lightness of the book. I really enjoyed Sunny's character and loved to watch her bond with the children.

I wish there was better character development for Sunny and Sam. The book is not very long and I think the character develop...more

Sam, is a single father. His children, Emma and Cole, are his world even if doesn't always put them first. A busy man who has a business to run. Wanting to spend more time with his kids decides to take them to the coast for the summer. He doesn't trust easily, he's been used many times before and thinks that everyone is out for themselves, wanting what he can do for them and not him for himself.

Sunny, as cheerful and sweet as her name suggests, will take any job she can to get by and pay off her...more

(Spoiler alert) Just my kind of book. A sweet romance with all the right things - laughter, tears, interesting characters and a story that kept me gripped to the end. There were two parts that really struck me - one description she gave of the hero - I saw him right there standing in front of me. It's not often a description of a person in a novel makes me picture the person perfectly. The other part I loved was how Sam realised how mistaken he was about his mother - that she truly did love him,...more

This was a wonderfully sweet book that makes you believe in the magic of love. Sunny is a wonderful character - finally a sweet girl that is actually someone you'd like your daughter to grow up to be like. Kind, loving and compassionate, she is a fun and sweet character. Sam is hurt, unsure of how to trust and love again. Their romance is fun and full of all those warm fuzzy feelings you always want to feel. A sprinkling of side characters add in some good depth to the story. Altogether it's a w...more

I would normally give this book a 3-3.5 star rating but I'm feeling generous today with my stars! It could be because it's the sabbath and I'm sitting out on my parents porch watching the sunset! It's nice and peaceful! :D This book was like rainbows and sunshine and pure happiness! It didn't have any huge drama in it! It didn't even really have depth to it! I imagine if you could feed your brain cotton candy and ice cream in book form this book would be an excellent choice! It's a quick read to...more

Loved this book!!

This light, contemporary romance (category length) just pulled me right in. Sunny, the main character, was such a sweet and generous soul, and Sam, the hero, desperately needed sweetness and generosity in his life. I enjoyed watching these two meet, share a common love of his twins, and, against the odds, fall in love with each other.

The seaside setting was also a big plus!

My favorite part of reading this book? I am smitten with Jennifer Shirk's easy-breezy, warm and funny vo...more

Sunny Days for Sam is a cute and tender romance. I enjoyed it so much that I kept reading until I finished it. Sunny is a wonderful character and I wanted her to succeed in life. Sunny has a hard time with making enough money to pay off her debt because of her grandmother's illness. Sunny has a big heart and is not bitter about her life. This book has a great combination of humor and family drama.

Jennifer Shirk has a wonderful writing style and I highly recommend Sunny Days for Sam.

Short, sweet romance but not the least bit believable. Very fairytale-ish. I liked Sunny, I just couldn't relate to her. She's attracted to a guy with closed off emotions, he kisses her twice and that's all it takes for her to be in love and ready for marriage. MARRIAGE! Seriously? Not to mention kids being involved. There needed to be a lot more romance/dialogue for be to buy into this kind of scenario. I felt like they were strangers declaring their love after only a few weeks.

This is the first book I've read by Jennifer Shirk, but I'll read more. Sunny Days for Sam is a feel-good book with likable characters and an easy-to-follow plot. I loved Sunny and Oats! It's easy to read, and perfect for the beach or for a winter day curled up in front of the fireplace. Or in my case, a hectic time of year when I read for about five minutes at a time.

This is a totally predictable story in the romance genre. I got it as an Amazon Kindle daily deal. However, it is fun read and a nice break for a beach trip or weekend by the fire.

Sunnyva is a college dropout in debt and desperate for a job. She goes to work as a summer nanny for an emotionally remote internet guru with twins.

Enjoy!

This was a sweet book. I really liked the main characters.. My only complaint is that the book was too short. I really wanted to see and feel the development of the relationship between Sunny and Sam. Instead, everything seemed a little rushed and then it was over. I got sucked into the story and definitely wanted more Sunny and Sam!

I just finished reading Sunny Days for Sam and I absolutely loved it! If you are a fan of fairy tales and happily ever afters then you will definitely like this book! Sunny is the main character and she is endearing, sweet and full of kindness. She is all around the best kind of person. Sam is a distrustful and hard-nosed businessman. Can he let go of the past and learn to trust again? Will Sunny be the one to change his hardened heart? Oh...I can't give anything away, I just have to say, you MU...more

I enjoyed this book. I liked the way the relationships developed. I don't like reading romances that include sex scenes, and this book didn't have any. I would rather there be no profanity, but there probably weren't more than a dozen in the entire book.

Sunny is the perfect way to describe this book. Sunny also lives up to her name with a warm and kind heart. She is a wonderful character who like Cinderella has become a victim of her circumstances. You just can't help but hope she finds her way out of her bad luck and receives the happiness she deserves. Sam is also a likable guy who with Sunny's help, discovers he's also very loveable too. A wonderful romantic match that will keep you rooting for true love and a fairy tale ending.

Jennifer Shirk has a bachelor degree in pharmacy-which has in NO WAY at all helped her with her writing career. But she likes to point it out, since it shows romantic-at-hearts come in all shapes, sizes, and mind-numbing educations.

She writes sweet (and sometimes even funny) romances for Samhain Publishing, Avalon Books/Montlake Romance and now Entangled Publishing. She won third place in the RWA...more

“Sorry, Sam, but I call 'em like see 'em. When you hire a nanny for the kids, you hire Mrs. Doubtfire. When you hire someone who looks like Sunny...well, then I'm afraid you hired her for yourself.” 2 people liked it
“Sunny laughed. "It's okay. You're right, Emma. My name is unusual, but I like to think of it as... special also."

Special?

Sam cocked his head as he studied Sunny. Almost all of her hair had escaped out of her ponytail now. She wore a baggy pink sweatshirt and had on the kind of drawstring plaid pants that would've set Bozo the Clown's heart pitter-pattering with envy. Her yellow tennis shoes were covered with dog hair.

Yeah, special was one word for her.”
