Dan, Jeff and Evan have a well established relationship by now. They get along well and they'd created a lot of good memories together. Memories like…

Dan thought of Jeff's long, artistic fingers and smiled to himself. A canvas. That was what Evan had let himself become. A way for Dan and Jeff to express themselves: their desire, their love, their playfulness…everything they were. Dan let his mind drift, let himself remember the dazed, disconnected look o

As usual with Kate's writing I loved this book. It was everything I expected and more. I don't know how she can keep witing about the same characters and still keep my interest and has me at the edge of my seat. She can get inside each characters head so well that you know exactly how they're feeling.

This book was as good as I expected.
(view spoiler)[ After two years Dan finally trusts both Evan and Jeff, and when there is a very huge fight between Evan and Dan they are able to talk and sort things out making their relationship even stronger. And jeff finally understands his place in their relationship and embrace it. (hide spoiler)]

I love this series and the complex relationship between the guys. Kate Sherwood doesn't go for the easy outs and quick fixes. The characters are all flawed (and I often wanted to wack them over the head. Hard!). Often in the m/m books I read there is some sort of non-issue that is being played up into some sort of relationship threatening plot device, but can be wrapped up neatly and easily because it was really a non issue all along. In contrast I wasn't sure if I would have been able to work t...more

Having read the first two books, I thought I knew what to expect with this book. Certainly more from Dan, Evan and Jeff, and Kate Sherwood delivered on that. As with the first two books, our trusty threesome are once again embroiled in personal drama. However, this time around the drama is a little too contrived, a little too dramatic and very distracting. It detracted from what I found so enjoyable in the first two books: the relationship between these three men, and their relationship with the...more

Honestly, I did not want to enjoy this installment. I thought I was over and done with the inept tripod. But I still bought it to read when I miss Sherwood. Simple to say, not only did I enjoy it thoroughly, I was completely sucked in.

We hit the ground running with Dan attending a phone call from his abandoned / fugitive sister for whom he feels more guilt than sibling liaison. Things get complicated and overwhelming at an avalanche pace when Jeff can’t be the supporting pillar anymore and a bab...more

I'll admit I don't actually like this series, however I am also one of those people that has to finish a series despite not liking it. Actually not in all cases and if I'm being fair - if I hated the books enough I'd ignore them altogether. I guess it is because I like the character Jeff. I actually think he's a sweet and interesting character, but he's just made into this piggy in the middle between the other two (I can't even remember their names). I saw from the blurb that Jeff may have a big...more

Another homerun in the series. The third book as the others if full of angst, steamy scenes and wonderful supporting characters. In addition to it, this one was also action packed. Kate, Nice job!

WARNING! The below might be SPOILERISH.

What I liked:
-Hot, steamy scenes, specially the one with Evan and Dan in Dan’s apartment at the beginning. HAWT!

-The men got deeper into their relationship. One could tell how much these three have grown together and how much love they have even with their confli...more

Of Dark and Bright is the last book in the Dark Horse Series. As always, I loved being with Dan, Jeff, and Evan. I wish this one was a bit longer so we could have seen more of them working on their problems. I felt like the issue with Jeff and the crisis with Tat only served to cover everything up. What happened with Tat went overboard and it seems a bit contrived.

I still feel like Evan's on the sidelines, even though I know he brings on a lot of the trouble himself. It's the little th...more

Hard to rate this one. 4 1/2 for the relationship building, but 2 stars for the crazy sister plot line.

This is a much shorter book than the others and I see this as mostly just a finalization of the relationship. What I did like is how at the end of the novel the guys finally figured out a way to function, without trying to kill each other. Yet, we could tell that it was still a work in progress.

So, I hate to say it, but I am giving it a three star. The passion that I felt in the beginning (no,...more

This book didn't quite grab me as well as the first books in the series. It's 2-3 years later, and the guys are still having roughly the same issues as they were having in the beginning. Points for consistency in the characters' personalities, but it did sort of make me cringe to watch the same issues over again, with the addition of medical problems. (It was obvious what direction that was going to take as soon as it was mentioned.)

Adding Dan's sister into the mix was a nice touch, though well...more

I really felt that the epilogue of the second book should have been the end of this series but was I ever wrong.

I really liked this one! POV from Evan and Jeff? Yes please! Crazy sister I could have done without in a heartbeat but hey there needed to be a more complex plot line somewhere.

The biggest issue I took with this book was that Dan and Evan were so wrapped up in their own arguments that they couldn't see that Jeff was sick. That bugged me to death. I love Jeff they love Jeff why do the...more

I love reading about these men. Jeff is my favorite, there I said it! When it comes to sexy time I think Dan and Jeff burn it up more than Dan and Evan. I need to see some Jeff and Evan heat next time. Now, all three burn the house down to ashes.

Small gripe - I get that Evan's whole deal is his love for lil'sis, his role as parent and he wants to keep her safe...but, enough already. These men have more issues to focus on other than her. I wanted them to focus on Jeff’s health scare. It was seri...more

4.5 stars. I really enjoyed this and read it in one sitting. I'm really attached to these guys. This book wasn't as emotional as the other two, despite some pretty serious events, but I did like being in all three men's heads. I think the POV changes helped me understand Evan better, in particular.

I wish the book had been a little longer. And moved at a slower pace from issue to issue between the guys. Jeff may have been glad that the concatenation of events kept the guys from focusing on his s...more

Dan, Evan and Jeff have been in their relationship for two years now but just as everything seems to be running smoothly in their respective lives, Dan’s past comes back to haunt him in the shape of the little sister he left behind when he ran away from home.

Krista’s plans to sell her unborn baby throw everyone into turmoil until her manipulations drive a wedge between Dan and Evan. A helpless Jeff can only watch as his family begins to fall apart, however he has some worrying health issues of h...more

This book was just one crisis after another. I enjoyed the story, but there was hardly any time to really relax and feel the love before the next something or other cropped up.

But the characters are great... Dan's sister is hard to figure out. I liked how it was described, that she had her own moral code and she would go so far along with whatever scheme he husband and father plotted, but when it started to cross the line, she refused.

Now does the next story mean we get to see them dealing with...more

I have mixed feelings about this one. I was happy to spend some more time with these characters, but I wasn't crazy about the plot. The series up to this point has been mainly focused inward (the beautiful exploration of loss and grief in the first book, for example), so the soap opera-ish events of this book seem out of place. Also, something about the relationship still seems... unresolved, maybe (unless that was the intent?). I loved that this series addressed the emotional dynamics of a thre...more

OK, loved it. I've already gone searching for another instalment.

Dan, Evan, and Jeff struggle with their relationship and the insecurities of a three way. Trouble ensues when Dan's very pregnant and criminal sister shows up looking for support from her estranged brother and someone to raise her child. Turning herself in she knows she will face significant jail time and then her criminal cohorts arrive on the scene to further complicate matters. Combine this with a major illness and a rebellious...more

While I enjoyed this story, I was surprised that it was so short. I was used to the length of books 1 and 2 so was disappointed at the length of this one. Especially if it's the last one...? I still really liked reading about these characters and this one for me was the most emotional between the three MCs (not counting the emotion with Dan and Justin in the first book because - GAWD!). I have to say that I was upset in this book because there was a point where I really, really, didn't think tha...more

Its the guys so its automatically awesome. I love that even on their third full story, its still fresh and exciting. The more I read the more I love them. The relationship between the three keeps growing stronger, but you can still see their insecurities and how they still have to work.

Loved that Chris was still involved I love his character and that his relationship with the guys keeps growing.

I hope there is more of all four of my fav guys to come!!!!

In this book, third in the series, the boys have been together for two years but still have to maintain a delicate balance in their relationship. Evan fights his possessiveness, Dan questions the role he plays and Jeff continues to be the glue holding the relationship together.
The story is fast-paced with story lines involving the extended group of family and friends. The series has an excellent cast of secondary characters and there is lots happening in this book.
A great end to the series.

I have loved every single one of the books in this series and this one was no different. This book was fantastic more then 5 stars as far as I am concerned. I really liked that we had all 3 of there points of view. It just made the story that much more better. What I really want to say is I hope there is more of them boys in the future because I really do not want to see there story end. I loved it and that's all I can really say.

Yet another satisfying tale in the saga of Dan, Evan and Jeff. There are some scary moments in this one for all. The tension was really well done. I was mad at every single character at some point in this book and that's when I know the author is being true to the personalities of each that she has created over the last two books and the other shorter stories. Even Chris pissed me off at one point! I pretty much read this in one sitting - seems like we've been waiting forever for it. Now of cour...more
