Love the movie, hate, hate, HATE the marketing. The moral, which could not be presented more clearly, is that true beauty comes from within. Belle, the heroine of the story, is an intelligent and sensible girl who's usually got her nose in a book. Throughout virtually the whole film she wears this practical blue dress:

But in 95% of the merchandise - dolls, posters, lunch-boxes etc - she is depicted wearing her admittedly tasteful but rather surprisingly revealing yellow ball gown, gazing up at t

I must say that I think Beauty and the Beast is one of the best Disney stories. I love how Belle is able to look beyond the physical appearance of the Beast.

This storybook retelling of the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast is a timeless story about the fallibility of quick judgement and the greatness of inner beauty. Belle's classic story of looking past physical appearance and finding inner beauty is a story that transcends time and culture. Every reader experiences the journey of self-discovery and self-worth that Belle experiences in her pursuit of true love. This story illustrates the transcendence of love as Belle pushes past the physical dis ...more

This is a great short read for students that want to tie words in with familiar pictures from the movie. The students already know the characters, so the text will be more approachable for the readers. It tells the classic story of the beautiful woman falling in love with a male despite his beastly features. In the end she is truly rewarded because of her love for him he eventually becomes a prince. I think this is a great moral for a story. It wouldn't have to mean the person you love will beco ...more
The typical love story, right? Nope! Beauty's family's house burns down, losing everything they own. Their father sets off to find supplies for them. He runs into this castle, and finds hot food, a comfy bed, and shelter for the night. He wakes up, and goes to cut a rose off and finds a beast roaring over him! The beast tells him to go home and send a daughter to fall in love. Beauty is sent to him, and he continuously asks her to marry him. He allows her to go back to see her family, but if she ...more

Brett, Jan. Beauty and the Beast. New York: Clarion, 1989. Print. Beauty and the Beast is a great and fun book for students to be able to read. This book tells the story of how a princess and a beast fall in love with each-other. This book is probably right for the age ranges of about 6-12. This book is a great book of how to not judge someone based on how they look like along with many other books in today's world. This book is a great example of how much fun it would be to make sure that looki ...more
Bennett cried when the Beast turned human again. Daddy says it's because this is a girl book and beasts>princes!
Beauty and the Beast is my favorite of all fairy tales. It is a story of the folly of quick judgements and the hope for redemption and the healing powers of love. The beast made a mistake when young and it has cursed his life. The only way to save him is if someone can see beyond him looking like a beast and see the kinder man inside and love him. And belle is just that special person. ( All the wonderful enchanted characters in the castle are a plus!)

This would be an opportunity to talk about w

I enjoy this book. I think children can get a very important lesson from this book. I will use this book in the classroom.

This book sets a positive message about being judgemental about looks and appearance. This is a message for children to learn at a very young age because this world have so many bias. I would use this book when children are being judgemental and talking diwn on others expressing the importance of others feelings.

4a)Beauty is very kind person, she always kind to others and help her father. On the other hand her two older sisters and brothers were so selfish. when they have to live in countryside and grow begetables, only beauty helped.

b)I like this passage because beauty is good person.

5) I like this book because pure person can be happy.

Beauty and the beast is one of my favorite books. Shows a simple girl who is a hero in spite of us being born in a castle Princess. Fight, risking his life to help his father. It's a beautiful tale where the values are the most important love and respect parents, not judge people by their appearance, where pure love overcome all evil.
Alicia Lawrence
This version is just like the movie. The Beast is under a spell until he receives love's true kiss. Belle goes to the castle in effort to save her father, but in return for her father's freedom she must stay with the Beast in the castle. Belle starts to enjoy being the Beast and eventually kisses and saves him.

This story is about not judging someone on the outside but what is on the inside is what matters. Belle finds beauty in the beast and they end up falling in love. The beast changes back into a handsome man and the curse is broken. They lived happily ever after
This is a great children's book and it also fits under the traditional literature category. It is about this rich man and his three daughters. One of the daughters is forced to go live with the beast. The daughter eventually falls in love and marries the beast.

One day i'll own that kind of library! (wistful thinking). Nothing ever beats the fun of being in the world of Disney, isn't it? I can relate more to belle than with any other Disney character, is that bad? I don't really care. ;)

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite fairy tales. This book is an abbreviated version of the movie and I thought it was done well. The entire story was captured in a short period of time with short pages and beautiful pictures to help children read the story and stay engaged. The story could be used for a fun read aloud, for a class library or for a variety of introductions to a lesson. One lesson that it could be used for is introducing titles or chapters. The story was broken into differ ...more

This teaches many children not to judge others on the way they look. Beauty ends up falling in love with the beast not because of the way he looks but the heart he has and his kindness.

Beauty and the Beast is a great children's book for ages 5-8. Beauty and the Beast is about a spell put on a prince to make him a beast until love's fist kiss. Belle, the heroine in the book, goes to the Beast's castle to get her father back, whom is captured. In return for her dad, Belle must stay as the prisoner instead. Beauty and the Beast is a timeless classic about love and liking yourself for who you are. The illustrations in the book are very well done. They are big and the coloring coin ...more

Disney always makes me so happy and this story is very near and dear to my heart. This story teaches that you shouldn't always judge a book by it's cover.

I had never actually read the book or seen the movie. It seemed quite appropriate that I read it first since Belle is such an avid reader.

This was one among many Disney classics that was read to me by my mom or aunt as a bedtime story when I was growing up. This story taught me the value of inner beauty, and not focusing on what someone may looks like or their race. We're all the same on the inside, and equally s beautiful. The Prince in this story just needed that reminder. I have always loved this story because of that concept. It teaches children of the importance of making friends and loving others without the care of what one ...more
