The follow-up to My Boyfriend Merlin is phenomenal! It was fun to get my hands on the arc and read it before everyone else. :D
In Awakening, we get plenty more of the juicy dynamics of Ryan's love triangle with two sexy wizards, Vane and Matt. The beginning starts off funny and poignant, and then quickly becomes thrilling and action-packed. Creepy ghost-girls kept me up at night, as did fierce mermaids (which are not really mermaids at all because they have legs, but they are creatures hidden in...more

WOW, WOW, WOW! I have encountered few second books that were better than the first, and this was one of them. (If you haven't read the first book, maybe don't read the synopsis just in case but if you did, I mean, just read the synopsis! HELLO! AWESOMENESS!) When I saw mermaids mentioned in it, I was like O______O, okay, this book is going to give me feels.

My Merlin Awakening picks up where the first book in the series left off. Ryan finds herself in the middle of the conflict between two brothers, each who believe they are doing the right thing, and she cares for them both. While she finds herself with one, she still can't seem to let go of the other, and with both of them being able to get into her head, it doesn't make things easier. The action in this book is intense, with mermaids, monsters, and myths, Ryan finds herself in the middle of a ba...more
I really liked the first book and did I like this one? Yes.
BUT...
First of all, I love the character Vane and this whole love triangle thing hopefully ends in his favor or I will be VERY disappointed. I felt so much for him in this book. So much I was boiling with frustration that Ryan couldn't see clearly he was the one for her. Ok, we're going to move on before I start sounding as if I'm reviewing "Twilight."
What I didn't like about this book really comes down to two things.

Ryan, Matt/Merlin and Vane are back in another spellbinding story; along with all the wizards and gargoyles from the first book. Not to leave out Ryan’s brother Grey, mom Sylvia and good friend’s Gia and Blake from Avalon Prep.

“My Merlin Awakening” Review
This book by Priya Ardis has everything. The girl, the boy, the other boy, mystery, action, jokes, more mystery and a lot of visions from the future (which is more mystery)
Who read the first book definitely remembers how it begins. This one is the same, but little surprise right on the first line (more like the prologue): It’s Merlin who starts it, telling us a piece of a memory. At first I thought Ryan, the main character, was ripp...more

This is the second book in the series, and I highly recommend starting with book 1. All of the main characters from book 1 are back in this book. Ryan (a girl!) is still with Vane, who started teaching history at her high school, so that he could be with her, and keep her safe back in America. There is still a love triangle thing going on between Ryan, Matt, and Vane. She wants Vane (Merlin’s brother), but is connected to Matt (Merlin), and cannot keep him out of her head, or fully commit to Van...more
Overall, the writing was stronger in this second installment. It felt cleaner and more polished than the debut novel. The story also kept me more reeled in--it pretty much felt like non-stop action. The love triangle has developed nicely; Merlin's still a bit too standoffish, but you start to believe he might actually fight for it. We're given intriguing glimpses into Vane's underlying insecurities--for all his annoying attitude, you can really see the little shots that keep Ryan from letting hi...more
I rate this book 4.5/5. The author has done real well in developing the story. How can I not enjoy it when the author has combined Arthurian Legend and Greek Mythology? It's my first reading of such. I do want to rate this book five, but I just can't. The author has intended the series to be about Merlin when in actuality it is about Vane and Ryan. Merlin is just a supporting character in this book, On top of it, she had made Merlin as an incompetent (weak) wizard. Don't get me wrong...I love th...more

This is one of the most fun twists on the Merlin story I have read. The character's have evolved so much from just the first book, making them relatable. Ardis arranges the situations in the book, so its never overly predictable and boring. She weaves historical fact and myth so seamlessly into every aspect of the story that for those who know myths and history (like me) get overly excited by names and locations, but people who aren't familiar with them don't feel lost. I cannot wait for the nex...more
I received this book from the monthly giveways. Since it is the 2nd book in a series, I purchased and read the 1st book and reviewed it before starting this one. I completely enjoyed this book. I did not want to put it down. To me, it was far more believable (is that possible in sci-fi/fantasy?) than the 1st book. The first book seemed to jump time, where this book moved fast, but did not skip. I don't know whether I liked the characters better because I already know them or did was there better...more
I really am enjoying this series. The pacing is excellent, and even though there is a love triangle, it's pretty complicated and keeps you guessing much better than most ya novels that involve a romantic triangle. This one reminded me a little bit of the Hunger Games because of the gladiator-type competition. The main character doesn't strike me as nearly so hard as Katniss, though, which is one of the aspects I do like about her.

This second installment in the Merlin series was even better than the first.
Once again we are taken on a nonstop ride filled with lots of action, adventure, mystery and just enough romance thrown in to keep it really interesting (just in case the action and adventure wasn't enough for you).
We get more of the mysterious yet hot Merlin...err Matt and the sexy bad boy Vane.

This author has really come into her own! From her first Merlin novel, "My Boyfriend Merlin", she has shown great strides in her writing style. I am more drawn into the plot than ever and she finally drew the characters from a skeleton description of emotions into a heart-felt and truly insightful group. This book had all of the things I felt were missing from the first book and I am absolutely ecstatic to read her next installment. Who knows how Merlin's steamy vision will actually turn out? An...more
The second installment of this series delivered just as good as the first one! In this book we get even more action and adventure and Ryan gets to show what she's truly made of! Ryan also has some very hard choices to make (like between brothers). Imagine the brothers from the vampire diaries Damon and Stefan Salvatore and that pretty much equal Merlin and Vane ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

3.5 – Hmm, okay, this one is hard… I actually really like the adventure in these books and the crazy, unpredictable action, but I have lots of problems with the romance. I don’t care much for Vane--he seems like a power-hungry, abusive control-freak to me. And Ryan’s interactions with Matt never go the way I’d like them to. Seems crazy that he’d have to choose her over the safety of the whole world--and that she punishes him because he doesn’t! Yes, Matt does have a bit of a hero-complex and I h...more
From the moment she pulled Excalibur free of the stone, Ryan DuLac's life went from being practically unknown to being plunged into the limelight, so to speak. It didn't help that Matt had revealed himself to be Merlin before the entire world thereafter. Oh no, that's quite a little thing compared to the enormous weight that now sits upon her shoulders. Her priorities have taken a different turn and she's supposed to fulfill the obligations that surround the life of a sword-bearer now that she c...more
My Merlin Awakening is an incredibly thrilling sequel. It's full of adventure as well as tons of mythological creatures. Ryan DuLac is immersed deeper into Arthurian legend. Ryan's character grows even more into the warrior she was meant to be as the wielder of Excalibur. I could not for the life of me put this book down, I tried my best to finish it slowly so as to savor its exciting story but failed epically and devoured the book in two days time during every waking second I wasn't busy. YAY! A sequel that didn't feel like a chore to read. Have y'all ever noticed there was a sequel trap. I mean, authors are getting better at not falling into it, but there was a time I dreaded reading sequels. They sometimes felt like a placeholder between books 1 and 3 until the real action started. And I'm happy to say this book didn't fall into the sequel trap. It was entertaining, exciting, and an emotional roller coaster to be honest.

My Merlin Awakening is the second book in the My Merlin series, and continues to follow Ryan's life now that she has become the sword-bearer. At first, not much has changed... Mostly because she refuses to. But a shared vision with Matt shakes things up. A worldwide disaster is shaping up and they have got to figure out how to stop it.

I had my whole review written and I lost it all, so now this is take 2.
My Merlin Awakening had some pretty high expectations to live up to. I loved the first book and I was really excited to read this one and I am happy to report that it did not disappoint at all. I loved it just as much, if not more, than the first book. This series is shaping up to be amazing and I am super sad that there is only one book left. Maybe Priya will change her mind and switch it from a trilogy to a series? (well,...more

I hated finishing this book! How can any author do that to you, leaving you with a second book in a trilogy, just waiting, pining, dying, for the conclusion? Because good authors are just EVIL.
We find Ryan (Ms. Arrianne DuLac) back in old high school with...Vane as her teacher and boyfriend? SCANDALOUS! !I MEAN NO OFFENSE TO THE AUTHOR OR MATT/MERLIN LOVERS!
Wow, great story and I have nothing against the writing style.
Still I want to PUNCH SOMEONE IN THE FACE!
How can Ryan not be totally in love with Vane by now? I always seem to be rooting for the bad boy under dogs when i'm reading stories and it hardly ever turns out to be them who get the girl.
Even the titles are pointing towards Matt! How unfair.

This was a free nookbook so it was better than most. It was better than the first. The author knows how to suck you in. What I didn't like is that she is supposed to be this awesome warrior chick and the one beating her up is her boyfriend. Are we now saying it's okay to stay in an abusive relationship, as long he can push you to be your best too. what are we teaching our teenage daughters? That really pissed me off.
Ms. Priya really did a good job on this one. She took the love triangle between Ryan (aka Arriane) and brothers Matt (aka Merlin) and Vane (aka Vivane). The book starts off with Ryan and Vane being a happy couple but when Merlin comes back Ryan and his connection are stronger then ever. Who will she choice... I can't wait to find out in book 3 just hate its the last book lol

I love books of all kinds—but especially the gooey ones that make your nose leak and let your latte go cold. My writing comes from a childhood of playing too much She-Ra and watching too much Spock and reading way too much fairy-tales, fantasies, detective stories, romances... the list goes on. (When Belle gasped at the library the Beast gave her, so did I! Color me with library envy.) I started p...more
