A slightly depressing story, but with a wonderful ending, I enjoyed Where the Heart Is. Reese has a fantastic husband and a great family that came along with her marriage to him, but she lets the terrible upbringing with her dysfunctional family and the tragedies in her life weigh her down until her husband Taylor finally gives up and leaves her. At her best friend Ginger's urging, she gets her courage up, returning home to Pittsburg to attend her horrible grandmother's funeral, connect again wi ...more

I found this book on the Kindle Store for free and so I thought that I would give it a try.I thought that it was a really good heartwarming 'chick lit' book, written by the fantastic Jenny Gardiner. It starts off quite sad and down but it all ends with a nice uplifting ending. We go on a journey with the main character ( Reese) through the bad and tragic events that had happened in her life. The characters

I got this book free from

It took me a little while to get used to the jumping around in the timeline. I was afraid it wouldn't pick up, but once I got about halfway through, I had enough of a picture of Reese's life to want to hear more. My heart ached for her the entire story, and while I don't enjoy hearing of such tragedy, it was a good book. I was happy with the end, and would definitely recommend this book as a good story of self discovery and coming to terms with the crap life

This book was sad and depressing for 90% of the entire book. However, cuddling with my puppy at 4 in the morning I finally finish and get to the good parts! Glad I stuck with it, but I've read other novels by Gardiner before (under a pen name) and they had much less depressing storylines. She sure is a great writer though, excellent techniques.

A Depressing book with a VERY happy ending! Hard to get into....The Heroine? Reece's family is F'd up for lack of a better word. Won't ruin the story by giving all the details of why. But I'm glad I stuck through this story. 1.I was morbidly curious as to what happens next. 2, Reece's estranged husband was just a doll! Total sweetheart and put up with a lot. Seeing the cover, I thought I'd be reading a typical chick lit/romance. WRONG! Know that that won't be the case. Like I said, I'm glad I ke ...more

It's an okay story. Lots of drama. Not a favorite. Reese's life has been nothing but disfunctional from birth to her wedding day when her mother is murdered by her grandmother. The story is about Reese dealing or not dealing with the tragic losses of family, friends and finally separation from her husband. She comes to grip with feelings and the past while she attends her grandmother's funeral.

The plot is quick and to the point, which is something I like when I want to get lost in a book for a little while. I liked the story (Reese struggling with her past and having trouble moving forward until she receives a much needed shove in the right direction), but I wish it hadn't ended so abruptly. With so many chapters leading the reader through all her trials (present day, and past reflection), I was left hungry for more when her problem was resolved. I'm still giving this book four stars ...more

I found this book to be really aggraviting. I kept reading it in hopes it would get better but eventually enough is enough. Although I thought her writing style was captivating enough, the constant drone of her parents befuddled marriage was sucking the life out ot me. If you are looking for a feel good read skip this one.
