Dear Abbi Glines,

I've been a reader of yours for sometime now. Even before Fifty Shades of Grey introduced my girly bits to a full blown bookgasm; I was a Glines reader. The sharp edge to your YA-writing style tends to posses a reader!

The last thing she wants is to fall for the bad boy. *coughs* Yeah right. Can Cage keep his hands off? Can Eva really resist the delectable Cage York? These two clash and spark causing the summer to heat up with off the chart hotness! Can Cage and Eva handle the heat? Hell, can we?

I love an Abbi Glines world. Her slow, hot, sexy summer days seep into my heart and soul. Cage had me swooning pretty much every time he opened his mouth to speak, lick, and oh-so much more. :)

”I wanted to be the one to hold up while you cried and dealt with the coming change. But you wouldn’t let me in. I’ve never wanted in, Eva. Not until you.”

Cage’s pull and attraction was more than his wicked “just-this-side-of-dirty” charm and looks though. At times, Cage made my chest ache. The insecurities under all that swagger broke my heart. Readers heard the pain from his point of view, but I never felt like he shared it with Eva. Even when Cage introduced Eva to his world and opened up in ways he never had before, they really just dealt with his reputation. His bad-boy ways were center stage. I never felt like these two talked and shared their real pasts and pain under their images and reputations. The chemistry and heat were there on the page. Boy o’boy was it there! But for me, the banter, flirting, and emotional punch to the heart were missing between Cage and Eva. Hell—Eva started off with attitude, but it never built or showed itself again after their first meeting. The tension and foreplay turned into a lot of staring out the window and dropping invisible fairy gifts off for Cage when he wasn’t around. That kind of silent flirting and action did not work for me in building a relationship. Cage stole my heart, but as a couple, the love affair did not sweep me off my feet. Lots of sexy fun though!

That said--I had fun here with Cage and Eva on the farm. A world filled with heat, skinny dipping, lemonade, need, lust, and perhaps much more. A hot summer read that I would recommend for any Glines fan.

Cage York + July 21st = How am I suppose to last that long?
After falling in love with Because of Low, of course Marcus and Low were really wonderful together, I was also drawn with Willow and Cage's relationship. They were so cute together in a brotherly way. And Cage, even he's a manwhore and all, i still find him cute. Perhaps, it's because how he was on Willow. Now this would be an interesting read.

Honestly, I have loved all of Abbi's books so far, but this was certainly my favorite. I think it definitely has some to do with the fact that it is her most "adult" book, and I loved that. Girl knows how to write adult romance. That's for sure. Smoking. Hot.

I loved Cage in Because of Low. I know a lot of people thought he was just a gross, womanizing ass, but I couldn't wait for his story, because I knew there was more to this dude than he let on. I mean, look at how he took care of Low all those years, never pushing her for more, and just being there for her. That's love. And then, he gets himself a DUI, which threatens his college education and placement on the baseball team, and he lands on a farm - in the boonies - for the summer. Now, doing manual labor like that isn't something he's used to, and add into that the firecracker farmer's daughter who wants nothing to do with him - Cage is definitely out of his element. Especially when he finds himself falling in love with said firecracker...who he's supposed to stay away from.

Cage and Eva's love story is so great because it overcomes so much. Eva's dealt with a major heartbreak - more than any 20 year old should endure (which by the way, had me crying during the first 3 pages) and Cage just doesn't know how to actually handle the fact that he's in love with her. Mix all that drama with some steaminess and you have yourself one hell of a fantastic Abbi Glines novel.

I give this book 5 stars and will recommend to everyone, including random old women at the grocery store. I cannot wait for Preston's story, but am still secretly wishing for more Cage and Eva (and while I'm at it, more Ashton, Beau, Sawyer and Lana, because let's face it, that's how I fell in love with Ms. Glines in the first place..yeah, that's right...love). If you haven't read this yet, you should do so, now, but keep in mind that chances are your pulse will race, you'll breath heavier than normal, and you'll more than likely need a cold shower - multiple times. So Abbi Glines has been a little bit hit & miss for me as an author.
I've read The Vincent Boys = 3 stars
I've read The Existence trilogy so far and again 3 stars.
I've read Breathe and it was a DNF for me :(
I didn't bother reading Because of Low since I didn't enjoy Breathe.
She's a bit like Simone Elkeles in this respect for me, I didn't get what all the hoopla was about.

I didn't know how good it will be but as high as my expectation was, it absolutely lived up to that. While It Lasts is one of those books that you can't seem to get enough of. It was as good as Abbi Glines other novels, which reminds me why I love her writing. And even though Because of Low is still my most favorite of all her novels, While It Lasts definitely comes next.

Eva Brooks couldn't let go of her dead fiance. She still wears that ring that Josh gave her before he was killed in Baghdad. She never thought that Cage's arrival at their farmhouse will be her way to heal and to love again. But she's confused whether she's ready to give up everything--including Josh--and let herself fall for Cage. He was an absolute opposite of Josh. Josh who was always good, a guy that you can easily and proudly introduce to your parents and family. Cage was different, but she knows that there is something about him than his hot body and pretty face. There is so much more about Cage.

Cage York, the bad and the naughty guy who bang almost every available girl that runs into him, now finds his perfect girl--Eva Brooks. It wasn't love at first sight for Eva, but it was definitely something for Cage. And though as he admits that panties is in his priority list when it comes to girls, Cage couldn't deny the fact that he's starting to break for this girl, and maybe...finally…he's falling in love.

I don't think that words will be enough to convey my feelings about this book. Reading Cage's story and seeing his thoughts made me love him even more. He'd been through a difficult childhood and his life has never been easy. When I finally see the real Cage, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. It was heartbreaking to see how he really feels. He thinks that he doesn't deserve to be loved, he doesn't even think he has a soul. He's broken and he tries to deal with things in his own terms…until he met Eva Brooks, who happens to be someone he couldn't possibly have.

There are lines in the book that nearly broke my heart. Because as much as these two amazing and witty people made me smile (often) and grin (wider), they made my heart melt and break most of the times. I think that these two will always fit each other perfectly no matter how you put them together. I also loved how the story made me love Low even more, made me want more Marcus (please Abbi), and made me excited for whatever Abbi has in store for us. I find myself looking back to one of my most deeply-loved memories with this series while given a glimpse of something more to come in the future. I don't think I could ever get enough of Sea Breeze.

One boy who thinks bad about himself and who doesn't think he can actually love and care deeply for a girl, and a girl who doesn't expect to be healed by a boy and be given a second chance in love…in life. These two amazing characters will make your knees wobble with anticipation. You'll love them, you'll feel for them, you might even break your heart for them.

If you loved the Cage York in Because of Low, you'll absolutely love him even more in this book! The humor and the funny moments in this book compensates the emotional aspect of the story, thus making this a very satisfying and delicious read. It's perfect for summer, it's perfect for any weather!

This book, just as the rest of the Sea Breeze series is highly engrossing and very entertaining. I read it in one day! I totally loved it. I recommend While It Lasts. I recommend Sea Breeze Series. I recommend Abbi Glines!(less)

How can words on a page be formed together in such a way that you are left to believe in the perfection of story telling? Read this book and you'll discover it's because Abbi Glines freakin ROCKS!! You had me at the Prologue. I was crying, lip quivering, sob burning my throat, as I got my first look at Eva. This amazing story begins with a loss that cuts so deep, it seems this young woman will never be more than a shell of her former self. Eva's only love Josh, the boy from next door, dies at war. He leaves behind crushed and broken dreams of a life that will never be for a girl who wanted nothing more than to love him forever. As I read a letter, and catch a glimpse at what their life had been together, my heart sinks like it been filled lead, a grief that's not my own.

Moving forward. The story begins eighteen months later when Cage, or as I like to call him "Sweet Hottness," is dropped off on Eva's doorstep. Being banished to the country to work on a farm, in order to not lose his scholarship after a stupid DUI, seemed like his idea of hell. Now it seemed his idea of hell with a nice view, until she opened her snippy little mouth. This hot farmers daughter lets him know very quickly that she's not the least bit impressed with him at all. From his cocky smile, obvious drinking problem, and horrible attitude, it's clear she needs to stay far away from this messed up college boy.

Spoiler

Cage and Eva's story weaves together beautifully to share how broken hearts can mend, how unfeeling hearts can feel, and even the most unworthy (him for never having loved, her for moving on while Josh can't) find worth in each other! The bad boy and his straight forward attitude will draw you in and leave you wanting more. You will find yourself rooting for the sweet country girl to be whole and happy again. This is a story of trust, taking chances and many firsts.

I live to read stories like this one. Abbi Glines is a rock star and needs some serious praise for writing skills. This story will suck you in and keep you hoping, laughing, crying, and panting! If there was any doubt as to if you should read this book, file that away and start it NOW! No reservations, jump in and find you'll have a new favorite author waiting for you when you're done!(less)

LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT! This is what I want when I read a YA romance, the raw lust, the passion, the freshness of young love, the way you feel when the H&h can hardly function because of the intense obsession for each other. Boy, does it bring back memories and that is what I am looking for when I pick up a YA. I rarely give YA books 5 stars because I am usually left wanting more. I didn’t happen here. I devoured this book in a half a day, crossing my fingers that it would keep delivering and it did to the very end with a heartfelt, chest tightening epilogue.

While it Last grabbed me from the first page. I had tears glistening in my eyes and I didn’t even know the characters yet. It starts off a year and a half after Eva’s fiancée, Josh, a soldier, is killed in Iraq. Her dreams are crushed, she doesn’t have the will to move forward. Josh was her everything, her security, the boy next door, her first kiss, her one and only. All Eva ever saw was her future with Josh; they were going to grow old together, continue their beautiful love story and watch their grandchildren grow. It was so sad, my heart just broke for her.

Cage was introduced in Because of Low, book 2. I did not read the previous 2 books in this series because from the reviews they weren’t as highly rated and after coming away somewhat disappointed from Abbi Glines, The Vincent Boys series, I wasn’t sure I wanted to waste my time. I might now go back and read them, but I wasn’t lost in starting at Book 3, WiL.

Cage is sent for the summer to work for Eva’s dad on their ranch as punishment from his junior college baseball coach because he received a DUI. I didn’t think the whole DUI and baseball future was taken very seriously, sort of just glance over, even though it was the whole reason they were thrown together. Cage still would drink a beer and drive a car, it made me nervous, it wasn’t smart.

Eva read Cage immediately; a bad boy, a girl user, a heart breaker and total trouble, but he did make her broken heart beat faster. Cage was a complete flirt and he checked out anything with boobs, but the love bug knock Cage off his feet and he was completely blindsided by his developing feelings for Eva. I loved how different he was with her. He was protective and possessive, their chemistry was scorching, and he had a wicked dirty mouth when he was in the moment with Eva… he had me completely hot and bothered. Where Josh and Eva’s love was from a comfortable history, Cage and Eva’s was all consuming, “surrendering of your heart” love. The author handled the distinction very tastefully because I felt deeply for both Josh and Cage.

I highly recommend this story to even those who are skeptical about Young Adult romance books like me. It didn’t feel YA; it had steam, angst (but not over the top), jealousy- because of lots of “other women” situations, cheating, awesome characters and a very good story.

I never thought I would really like Cage, but after reading White it Lasts I fell in love with him. Abbi really knocked it out of the park with this one and even turned up the heat. I loved it so much! There isn't a book out there of Abbi's that I haven't loved and this one is right up there with the rest.

“I gotta admit your gallantry at attempting to save me from the big bad mean cows was noble in a moronic sort of way” <--- Therein lies the solitary golden moment for me. It's when I thought I was going to love WHILE IT LASTS. It's with a line like that I turned all hopeful, expectant even. It's no surprise that I loved this book. I'm a huge Abbi Glines fan, but that aside, I was really excited about getting inside Cage's head. Mission accomplished! I absolutely knew that Cage was going to be special. I remember sending Abbi a note while I read Because of Low asking (begging) if there would be a story about Cage. I think Cage crept into my heart at that point and held on tight. I was dying to see what kind of girl could get into his heart (besides me). Immediately, I knew Eva had what it took to make that happen.

Within the first few pages of the book I was in tears. However, that quickly changed once Cage entered the scene in chapter one. He's cocky, sarcastic, and oozes sex appeal. Eva is not impressed in the slightest. See...Eva has had a very different life than Cage. She's confident in herself, feels loved, and has a clear plan for her life. Unfortunately, she's had to alter that plan because of Josh's death and she certainly doesn't want someone like Cage York to interfere in her life. As time goes by, she can't fight her attraction to him and Eva learns that there is more to Cage than just a pretty face.

I loved seeing Cage's heart warm up to the possibility of trusting someone to love him. Also, allowing himself to love someone truly. He's had a tough childhood and the only one he had to count on was Low. He protected himself by jumping into bed with anyone to fill a void. I think that he knew right away that Eva was going to be different. She wasn't a game to him. As much as I loved seeing him fall in love, I was still happy to see that Cage's humor and some of the sexy cockiness wasn't lost. Man...that boy has some good lines and some good moves. *sighs*

I just want to briefly mention that I was really happy to see Low again. I hadn't realized how much I had missed her until she showed up. Of course, I loved seeing a little snippet of Marcus too, even though it was brief. What I would like to see, (crosses fingers) is a story with AMANDA (Marcus' sister)! Agree???

Overall, While It Lasts, was everything I had hoped for and more. There were times I wanted to yell at Eva and smack Cage upside the head. There were times I needed to catch my breath from all the steam. There were tears, laughter, and full out swoon. AND, I absolutely adored the ending! One of the things I appreciate the most about Abbi's stories is that they aren't wrapped up in a nice little package. Her characters have to work for their love. While the situations are more dramatic, it makes it seem more realistic to me. Ultimately though, her characters find their happy ending.

If you are a fan of a great love story, sexy guys, and strong females, then you must check out the Sea Breeze Series!(less)

Cage, Cage, Cage; how can you not love this bad boy with a loyal and fierce heart wrapped up underneath his tough exterior?

This was my favorite book out of the Sea Breeze series. Right out of the gate the prologue had me in tears. I knew Cage's story would be interesting (and messy) but it surpassed my expectations. Dammit. This book could have been perfection!

The plot lines to these books get better and better as the series progresses. I liked the ideas behind the characters. In theory the fit well together. In some aspects of the actually love story, this book kicked it up a notch. They didn't immediately fall in love with each other, even when they admitted to being attracted to each other, the love wasn't instant, which was a nice change from the previous books.

This was fantastic! I think the other two books took a lot out of me and this one was the worst! I cried for Eva so many times. This was the most touching story about love lost to war. People dont realize that there are too many Eva's in the US and we lost so many good people to war.

I loved Cage before because he was who he was and everyone knew it. Of course all that driving home after a few shots of tequila was a BIG mistake. Now Cage's baseball coach sets up a summer on a farm as his punishm...more

Wow... This is one of my favorite Abbi Glines books.

The chemistry is off the charts. Heck, I wanted Cage.

The moonlight hit the backside of his body and I covered my mouth to keep from making a sound. Because DEAR GOD! His butt was unbelievable. The muscles in his back moved as he walked toward the water. He had muscles in his back!

I think I had a mini orgasm reading that.

Cage York has not had a lot of good things in his life, but now he has a chance to change that by going to junior college on a baseball scholarship. His plan is to get noticed by a bigger college and hopefully make it to the pros. He almost loses that scholarship when he makes the mistake of driving drunk. His coach tells him he can work on a local farm for the summer, bailing hay and missing out on summertime with his friends, or he can lose his scholarship. Bailing hay it is then… And even though her father has warned him off, as soon as he lays eyes on ‘farmer’s daughter’ Eva he knows she’s different from all those nameless, faceless girls he’s been sleeping with. Something special.

Eva Brooks has been living life on ‘pause’. When Josh, her childhood-sweetheart-turned-fiance, died in Afghanistan 18 months ago, her world crumbled. She’s been living on her dad’s farm, stuck in limbo, still grieving, still wearing her engagement ring. When the sexy ball player shows up to work on the farm, she’s not impressed – her initial impression is ‘drunk manwhore’. So. As I mentioned in my PJV Quickie, I’ve previously read two books by Abbi Glines: The Vincent Boys, and Because of Low (Sea Breeze #2). I liked both of the stories, but the editing was so poor that I decided I wouldn’t be reading any more by this author. I did not realize she signed with Simon Pulse (a division of Simon & Schuster) in the latter half of 2012, so when this audiobook was offered for review, I figured the editing would not be an issue any more, and I could not resist. I have to say: I loved it!

I already liked Cage from “Because of Low”, and he’s definitely a character who’s big enough to carry his own story. He’s kind of selfish, doesn’t place much value on himself, and has been abandoned by those he’s loved so he has commitment issues as his way of self-preservation. I’d say he’s a pretty broken hero, an anti-hero, if you will. But I knew from “Because of Low” that underneath all that swagger and baggage he’s a pretty good guy, and I was delighted to see him shine in While it Lasts.

I’m not going to sugar-coat it: Eva is not my favorite type of heroine. She’s devastated by the loss of her fiancee, then spends the next 18 months leaning on his twin brother Jeremy, who left college to take care of her, then moves right from Jeremy to Cage. I would have liked to see her stand on her own two feet for a while. She had her moments where she stood up to her father and others, but I would have liked to see her stand up for herself.

“While it Lasts” is chock-full of the New Adult angst that I love, and all the bad decisions and heartbreak that go along with it. Cage and Eva’s romance moved a bit quickly, but it was sweet and sometimes hesitant, with a side dose of HOT! I think I’ve documented here before my preference for condom use in sexually active fictional characters, and for the most part, “While it Lasts” delivers in that respect; although I was disappointed at one particular scene where it does not. Condoms, people – they’re for more than just birth control!!! (There was one particular scene where Cage brings Eva to his town and she gets a pretty good idea of how many women he’s actually slept with. It was funny, but at the same time kind of sad.) /rant

I especially liked the way Ms. Glines began and ended “While it Lasts”. It starts with a letter to Eva from Josh that just rips your heart out. And hearing it read by the narrator – OMG so freakin’ sad. Then, as Eva and Cage’s story unfolds, we learn a lot about not just Eva and Cage, but Eva’s relationship with Josh. Ms. Glines picked the perfect way to end their story; I started “While it Lasts” with tear-filled eyes, and ended it with a smile.

As far as the audio recording, it took me a bit to warm up to the male narrator because he speaks kind of slowly (I guess it’s supposed to be a slow southern drawl?), but I got used to it and now that I’m reading the next book in the series, Just for Now, I’m still ‘hearing’ Cage’s voice as I read along.

Recommendations:
I wholeheartedly recommend While it Lasts to fans of the New Adult genre.(less)

There he meets Eva, the farmer's daughter, a long-legged beauty, but unfortunately off limits. Maybe you're wondering how the hell did he got himself into a situation like this? Well, if he wanted to get an education, he needed a scholarship. In order to get that scholarship, he needed to play baseball, which he loved. But when he got himself in trouble, he needed to make a decision: go work in the countryside and keep the scholarship, or go to jail and lose it. He obviously chose the first answer.
Eva Brooks is the girl whose soon-to-be husband died 18 months before in a bomb attack. Since she was five years old, she had all her life planned out, but karma is a bitch and stole every damn thing from her. Left alone, with no male company but her dad and her best friend (and also her ex-fiance's twin), Jeremy, she longs for someone not to look at her pitiful. And of course, her wish comes true when Cage comes along.
If you've never gotten yourself in a situation with a bad boy, I can tell you that it is nothing like the one in the book. It sucks. Cage is not the real bad boy, like hardcore bad. It is just a mask he uses to cover his family issues and other problems he might have, and that is why he opens up to Eva. Because she is smart, and beautiful and she rejects him. Bad boys don't take rejection well, but knowing that she is off limits, Cage can't do anything about it.
Anyway, the plot is really predictive, but not that annoying kind of predictive. Abbi Glines lets you ask yourself questions and make scenarios in your head before giving you some useful information to merge things together. That's what I actually love so much about her.
You should definitely read this book, even if you didn't read the other books from Sea Breeze. The story is beautiful, not shallow, maybe a cliche, but not necessarily in a bad way. It's an easy read so you don't have to spend "years" reading it, and after all, not understanding anything. All in all, I recommend it to all of you, but I must warn you about some saucy naked Cage scenes that you won't soon forget about! :)

Hot Hot Hot! The bad boy & the farmer's daughter... the beginning of many a country song. Well this isn't your typical love'm & leave'm. Cage York is reckless, wicked and unashamed. Doing time on his baseball coaches brother's farm as restitution for getting a DUI and risking his scholarship. It's every young man who lives on the beach's dream way to spend his Summer right?
