ReVamped by Ada Adams is not your typical vampire story. Ada Adams took the idea of vampires and built her own story around it with added fun and flare that is completely engrossing and highly entertaining. I fell completely head over heels in love with this book from the moment I read it.

The world that Ada has built up in ReVamped is originally unique, downright amazing and possibly even better than the world we live in now. I fell completely head over heels in love with this book from the moment I read it.   

The world that Ada has built up in ReVamped is originally unique, downright amazing and possibly even better than the world we live in now. In ReVamped, vampires live peacefully side by side with humans. Not only do they live together with minimal problems, but the humans absolutely adore the vampires to the extent where they sell products like Blood Cola, Blood Beer, Blood Vodka and various bloody snacks. Even more so, vampires are sought to become celebrities in Hollywood. I especially enjoyed the fact that there is a separate U.S. Vampire President with their own house, called Scarlet House. I also loved learning the differences between vampires: the Made and the Born, along with the different aspects of the way Ada made her vampires that I found to be creative and well thought out.   

The main character Dawn, is a Born vampire and one fierce warrior. The best fighter at that, according to the Vampire President, who is her father. She has been sheltered within the Scarlet House always training and learning new things. Finally, Dawn’s father gives her a simple mission to go to Angel Creek to train four vampires to become the small town’s new guardians. At first, the mission seems simple enough, until it becomes obvious someone is hunting Dawn. I must say that I love Dawn. She’s got this fire personality and she really kicks butt. I was able to connect and relate to her almost instantly. She’s strong and loyal. She’s a good friend and wonderful person all the way. She kind and has a big heart. I adored her from the moment she appeared on page. To me, Dawn was more human than the other characters in the book, including the humans themselves. I really loved her spunk, her confidence and this set determination that she had throughout the whole book.   

The other characters are developed very well. Each have their own separate personalities and voices. They were all distinguishable from one another and I enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them. I love how well rounded the characters were. None of them blended and each were very memorable. I thought it was brilliant of Ada to take a group of seven, make them all different from one another, but still keep them working together as an incredible dynamic. I loved the transformation of the group and it left me in awe to see how much they changed, improved, and cared for one another by the end. I do hope to learn more about Ethan and Sebastian and their relationship with Dawn in the upcoming books. I can’t get enough of these characters.   

The overall pacing to ReVamped was just right. No parts seemed too slow or too fast and I was easily lost into the world that Ada created. I enjoyed everything within this book and had no problem visualizing the story in my mind. It was easy to read and understand, it’s no wonder I devoured this book in one sitting. It’s just too good to put down, too irresistible to resist.   

What I love most about ReVamped was all the emotions and feelings the book was able to evoke from me along with the surprises it brought. I found myself smiling and laughing at many parts and I even cried at this very intense scene. The build-up to the ending was crazy good and I was so thrilled from all the suspense. The twists and turns and epic revelations were shocking that completely took me off guard. I wasn’t expecting a lot of those things to happen and I was blown-away by those moments.   

All in all, ReVamped is wonderfully delightful read that will grab your attention from the start, keep you intrigued, and have you wishing there was more at the end. I can’t wait for the next book and whatever Ada Adams has in store for these characters I ended up loving so much.

Little did Dawn knows that her desire would come true… in the form of human girl abduction, new drugs that involve vampire blood, and mysterious guy that saves her when she least expect it.

ReVamped is a brilliant story and I love its originality. Vampires are all out and it’s simply awesome that they have become some kind of Hollywood stars. There are werewolves in this book and they are not hot-blooded creatures with desire for conflict anymore. Werewolves live their peaceful, hippie life away from human’s observation. It’s certainly a refreshing idea after reading so many bloodsheds between vampire and werewolf.

The characters in ReVamped are a little too stereotype for my taste, or maybe it’s just me who read too much YA books. I can predict their action easily so I didn’t have pleasure of getting flabbergasted by the characters. However, the mystery is good and I think that is what I like most about this book aside from the originality. It puzzles me enough to flip the pages and continue reading.

ReVamped is a great, fun read. If you like vampire stories with twists and humor thrown in the package, then this is the book for you! I can’t wait to read ReAwakened, hopefully we get more romance and action in the book!

Not wanting to panic the recruits, I casually made my way to one of the dining room windows. Wiping away layers of dust that clouded the glass pane, I pressed my forehead against its cool surface, scanning the horizon for the origin of the activity. It was hard to make out through the thick sheets of rain, but right at the edge of the forest, concealed by the shadowy trees, stood a tall, dark silhouette. From its frame alone, I could not tell if it belonged to a human, a vampire, or some other being altogether. I was only sure of one thing—it was watching us. I rushed outside to investigate, but by the time I had reached its hiding spot, the stranger had vanished into the darkness.(less)

This is easily one of the most original, totally badass takes on the vampire world ever!

Dawn is a vampire, and not just any vampire but a Born. She's the daughter of the US Vampire President, living in the Scarlet House (it's like the White House, only for the Vampire President and his family), and she's highly skilled in martial arts and combat tactics. On top of that, she's a trainer, responsible for teaching youngsters how to fight and defend themselves. The world is no longer afraid of vampires. Quite the opposite, ever since they announced their presence to the public, they've become more loved and more popular than human celebrities ever were. The two races coexist peacefully. There are certain laws and rules that both parties have to follow (like "no snacking on humans" and "no turning humans into vampires"). When rebel groups of vampires start popping up in various areas of the country, and the human population is suddenly in danger, Dawn's father sends her on a special mission to Angel Creek. She is to gather a group of vampires living there and train them to become guardians. The only problem is... those vampires are absolutely and utterly clueless and they suck at being vamps! Dawn not only has to train them in martial arts, but she basically has to teach them how to be proper vampires.. she has to revamp them. Like that's not enough, Dawn soon discovers that there is way more going on in the small town of Angel Creek than what everyone originally assumed, she stumbles upon an evil plot to take over the world (why start small? go big or go home!) and she finds herself right in the middle of a dangerous intrigue.

I loved everything about this book, really. The plotting was skilful and thorough, down to the very last detail. The world building and the premise were simply masterful, I loved how original a world Ada created. I can't rave enough about the fascinating society, complete with all the social structures and politics. It was cool, unique and completely believable (despite its paranormal aspects). The characters were just awesome. Dawn was down-to-earth, kick-ass, smart, smoking hot and just sooooo sweet! She was also very strong, brave and a great leader. I loved her sense of humor and occasional sassiness. Both Sebastian and Ethan were great love interests. Obviously, I loved Sebastian more - he's gorgeousness impersonated, and I totally dig his "I'm so mysterious, baby, you don't even begin to comprehend it" act. He also seemed wise, experienced (hey! no dirty thoughts there!) and emotionally mature, though slightly damaged by his tragic past. A very complex and intriguing character, indeed. The villains were exceptionally fleshed-out, too, and I certainly appreciated the back story behind their evil plottings - it's a nice change to see bad guys that are not just evil for the sake of being evil, but their nasty behaviour (while it's still not acceptable) is somewhat motivated by the past events and experiences.

While it's a greatly entertaining and fun story, ReVamped is also so much more than just that. There's some family drama involved, social issues weaved into the plot, convincing romance (no insta-love, no "I love you to death" after 10 pages, just the beginning of something that could potentially turn into a serious relationship), ingeniously plotted intrigue, tension, and a whole lot of unexpected developments. It's an unputdownable book, and one that you'll simply love and remember for ever. I quickly grew attached to all the characters and really enjoyed observing the dynamics of their relationships. Ada Adams' writing style is unexpectedly amazing (I say unexpectedly because it is, after all, her debut novel), and I was amazed how interesting and deep a story she created.

All in all, ReVamped is an excellent YA debut novel, and one that I will be coming back to time and time again. I said that before and I'll say it again: to me, Ada Adams is Rusty Fischer on high heels. If you liked Fischer's Vamplayers or/and Zombies Don't Cry, you will fall head over heels for ReVamped. If you like your books entertaining, action-packed, sassy, intelligent and with a healthy dose of humour - this should be your next read. Trust me, you absolutely can't afford to miss it!(less)

Adams has created a wonderful world that's full of suspense, danger, and romance. ReVamped is an intelligent alternative to many of the YA books out there today, and it is a refreshing and unique take on vampire lore. It did remind me a tiny bit of the Sookie series, but I love that series, so I am okay with that. I could tell right away that Ada Adams is fan of pop culture. Oh, I'm only speculating here, of course. But there's no other way to explain how she was able to combine some of my favorite geeky, guilty pleasures into one fun, easy read. If I was to sit down and write a YA book for myself, I'd go through all my favorite themes from television, movies and books and shove them into one story. Somehow, it feels like Ms. Adams did that and made it work for this charming, fresh new take on vampires.

In Ms. Adams' world, vampires have come out of hiding to a world that adores them. Maintaining the peace between the vampires and humans is a president and his council (a Scarlet House for the vampire president, no less!) But there are rebel vampires running around and humans in the cities need vampire guardians to protect them. Dawn, the vampire president's sheltered daughter, has her first mission and that's to go to a small town, round up the remaining vampires who haven't gone to Hollywood seeking fame, and train them to be the town's new guardians.

If you're looking for violence, torture and angst-ridden whining, it ain't here. What you get is a motley crew of less than stellar vampires that Dawn is tasked with whipping into shape. You've got a just-turned computer/gaming geek, a perpetual cheerleader in search of a prom crown who you immediately want to throttle, a character from a Merchant Ivory film and finally someone who can only be described as either Vince Neil or Bret Michaels but I picture as Sebastian Bach from his days on Gilmore Girls. Add in two hot dudes to get Dawn tongue tied over and I wasn't putting this story down very often.

There's some nicely scripted fight scenes, lots of weapons and life threatening injuries. The writing style is quick, easy to read and engaged me immediately. If you want a fun read, perfect for summer, completely appropriate for YA, and not your typical vampire fest, this is your book! And at only $2.99 on Amazon and Barnes and Noble, what do you have to lose? Only a cheap coffee...

i was going to write a really long review on what the book is about but then decided to give a little discription of the story and then tell you all why i love it so very much . here goes . ReVamped is about a 19yr old girl named dawn who lives with her father in the confines of his presidential headquarters,untill he finally gives her what seems to be a fairly straight forward and safe mission of putting together 4 new guardians of a litle town called angel creek , on her arival she meets hanna...more i was going to write a really long review on what the book is about but then decided to give a little discription of the story and then tell you all why i love it so very much . here goes . ReVamped is about a 19yr old girl named dawn who lives with her father in the confines of his presidential headquarters,untill he finally gives her what seems to be a fairly straight forward and safe mission of putting together 4 new guardians of a litle town called angel creek , on her arival she meets hannah the waiteress and ethan the bartender , two great characters of the story . the 4 teens are brooke the fashion loving cheerleader , sophie the librarian who is also very much a girls girl, hunter the drunk and then there is seth the 16yr old newbie ! all the teens are fun to read about and all have great quirky personalitys ! then there is sebastian , ooooh now there is a character you will want to read again and again , he is moody , secretive and tall dark and very ,very gorgeous :) lets just say he is my favourite character . there is so much about this book i loved , the training of the teens is fun to read and the teens themselves are like i said very quirky and all have their own story to tell . the mission turns out to be anything but simple and safe for dawn and the teens when one of the characters gets kidnapped sending the book into a fantastic story that i couldn't get enough of ! i first knew of this book when my friend kez asked if i wanted to be in a reading relay and i'm so glad i said yes, as soon as i recieved the gorgeous purple book with the equally gorgeous girl on the cover i was so excited to begin reading and when i finally finished the book, to say i was gutted is putting it lightly, i love everything about this book from begining to end , it never dragged and there was no over long drawn out descriptions of things that can sometimes take up at least a few pages, all the characters were believable and fun to read. Ada has written a fantastic vampire book that i will read again and again and again :)(less)

ReVamped is the first book in the Angel Creek series by Ada Adams and was kindly provided to me by the author for Bewitching book tours.

19 year-old Dawn Fairchild is the daughter of the US Vampire President, she is a vampire born rather than made and has trained her whole life to be her fathers second in command. When she is given an opportunity or her first mission to travel to Angel Creek and recruit new vampires as Guardians she didn’t realize the role she would be playing or how hard it would be to train a group of ‘misfits’.

Dawn certainly had a hard task ahead of her, The vamps she was having to train were certainly nothing like what she had expected; we have a prima donna (Brooke), a nerdy librarian (Sophie), a computer geek (Seth) who was recently changed (by the prima donna) and a drug addict (Hunter). Each of these characters were fascinating and had me laughing on a few occasions.

When unusual events begin to unfold and a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vampires, Dawn realizes that there is more going on in Angel Creek than what she or her father initially thought and it is her task to work it all out in order to prove herself.

The love interests in this book are Ethan, the local bartender with many secrets and Sebastian, a moody Vampire with a haunted past. I adored both but Sebastian was a clear winner for me, I loved the mystery surrounding him and his ‘bad boy’ attitude.

Dawn was such a likeable character, full of kick-butt awesomeness but she still had vulnerability and innocence about her which I really liked. Each of the secondary characters were wonderful and played an important role in this story - I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between all of them; they were thought out, likeable and written really well and the fun banter bought a bit of humor to the story.

The world Ms Adams has created was unique and held my interest, I must admit to being a little tired of vampire stories of late but ReVamped was something new and refreshing; I loved how vampires and humans coexisted, I liked the mystery and many twists and turns, the fast-paced plot and wonderful characters kept me engrossed throughout and I am really keen to read the next installment.

This book my sister recommended to me knowing that i like vampire books but i was getting sick of the same story/plot. She is addicted to book and in special to vampire books, so imagine how much i believed her when she said that this one is different. For her each book is different.

I am glad i listen to her and read the book, because from the 3 chapter i believe you couldn't get me to do anything until i finished the book(she gave it to me in the holidays December). Love the vampire girl Dawn,...more

My first ever vampire book read cover to cover that kept me away from the computer in my spare time. I just couldn't let out of my hands until I was done!

It's a young adult, teenagers book. Or, you can read it any time if you feel the need for something simple and beautiful.

I really don't know what to say when thinking about this book. I had heard great things about this book but after reading so many vampire books I was completely prepared for this to be just another vampire book. I was completely surprised and ended up loving this book.

Vampire Dawn has always been trained to be her father's second-in-command. So when an important mission comes up and Dawn is sent to do it she thinks her life is finally going to begin. What she doesn't count on is her life changing forever and her life being put in grave danger. Trying to train her new vampire friends to protect the town of Angel Creek Dawn finds herself torn between two guys, Ethan, the human who is crushing hard on Dawn and the uptight mysterious vampire Sebastian who Dawn feels a strange connection to. Can she sort out her tangled feelings and protect her life?

I was really consumed by this story and ended up reading it one sitting. I couldn't put it down and was completely hooked from page one. Ada is such a fantastic author and she completely sucks you in from the prologue. Using foreshadowing to show us a glimpse of what is to come was such a fantastic way to start this book and I just couldn't stop reading and needed to know what was going to happen. This book is sweet, beautiful and exciting. I loved seeing the relationships between the characters develop and loved that the characters grew so much throughout the book.

Dawn is such a fantastic lead character and I loved her. She is just fantastic. She is strong and doesn't fear change. She thrives under pressure and she definitely isn't one of these YA characters who sits around waiting for a guy to save her. When she is in danger she takes charge of the situation and acts to help her friends. I really loved her and she is one of my favourite YA lead characters. I felt like Dawn really grew throughout this book. She started as the innocent daddy's girl who led a very sheltered life and she grew up a lot and ended up the strong-willed action girl who would stop at nothing to solve the problem and help her friends.

The guys. This is what every girl wants to hear about for the books. Well in this book there are two completely swoon-worthy guys and I fell in love with them both. Ethan is the cutest, sweetest character ever. He's so adorable and from the moment we met him in the book I was constantly going awww. BUT there was something about him that I didn't trust throughout the book and I turned out to be right but at the end I still loved him.
Sebastian on the other hand... WOW! I just completely fell in lust... er... I mean Love from the first moment. I liked the book a whole lot and then we met Sebastian and I immediately loved it. He is hot, mysterious, brooding and I just loved him. The more of Sebastian that I read the more I totally loved him.

This book was completely amazing and I couldn't put it down. It's amazing in terms of the relationships and I totally loved every character in it. The thing I loved most about ReVamped is that it is fast-paced and action-packed. I was sat holding my breath waiting to find out what was going to happen. I loved every moment of this book. It is no ordinary vampire book. It's completely unique and I loved that. It's so difficult to find an original vampire story and at times I feel like the whole vampire thing has been overdone and get a little bored of it. ReVamped is amazing and unique and it has me hanging on for book 2.

The setting of this book, Angel Creek, seems like an idyllic small town and I love that aspect of it. The setting of this book, Angel Creek, seems like an idyllic small town and I love that aspect of it. The concept is pretty original, I must say, and I like the male characters vying for Dawn's attention, the cheerleader character, Brooke, is really annoying. The other characters are great, and although we're given their history, I never felt like I really knew them.

When Dawn learned what her father had done to give her life I felt sad for her. I totally understood her feelings of betrayal and her loss of purpose, but really, they were two different people. I really appreciated the word-play between "Dawn" and "Aurora." I thought the ending really caught me off guard and was kind of devastating. I felt overwhelmed and the only thing I could think was "now what?" I thought the character recovered well from all that she went through at the end of the book, it was the middle content that wasn't believable.

I like that she ended up back in Angel Creek, where her first mission led her, because obviously she'll have nostalgic ties there. I liked the concept of the vampires having a president that rules publicly, with a political system that mirrored the humans. I also liked the differentiation between Made and Born vampires, and it sounds like a good setting for "civil war" within the vampire community.

There was a lot of action in this book, and a lot of fight scenes, but everything kind of worked out so easy that I was like, okay... And finding out that Sebastian had loved Aurora really killed the romance for me with him and Dawn. I liked his dark and brooding personality, and thought he was a great character, but I just didn't like the romance between him and his ex-lover's sister. It was weird. My least favorite character was Brooke, but Dawn was a close second. She annoyed me because she couldn't keep herself in check. She was a strong Born vampire, and I know that her world was unraveling around her, but goodness she was so "woe-is-me" and everything came so easily for her I couldn't believe it completely. Some of it just seemed too forced. Sometimes it was so much so that I had to put the book down for a while. Sometimes it was just too perfect.

I'm rating ReVamped 2.5 Stars. I expect the rest of the series to get better, and I will read the subsequent books. This book is a very good beginning, but I'm not sure it's the best work we will see from Ada Adams. I think her ability is far better than what this book shows it to be.

The vampires she has to train, to take over guardianship of this town, are a bunch of misfit vampires, and quite hilarious. The characters in this book are definitely unique, and are what made the book for me. I loved that they were not all perfect, and gorgeous and ...I don't know...vampirey...I don't think that's a word, but anyway, you get what I mean. They had flaws. They were real people, who just happened to be vampires.

So of course we have a love triangle. I'm kinda over that, but I guess it's better to have 2 hot sexy guys instead of just one in the story! Sebastian, the vampire, and then Ethan, a human, and they are both just irresistibly sexy. Dawn has lived a pretty sheltered life as far as boys go, so she kinda flips over both of them! I can just imagine that her hormones hit the roof, and having no experience, she goes gaga for both of them. Well, can you blame her? Two hot guys falling all over me, I would have a hard time choosin!

The absolute best part of this book, is something that I can't even tell you because it would ruin the whole book! It's part of the plot, and I will admit that I didn't see it coming. That rarely happens for me, and I was pleasantly surprised! I love when that happens in a book! Just reading along, thinking you got the whole thing figured out, and BAM! there it is...LOVE it!

Overall, I thought this was a lovely book. The characters had depth, the plot was spectacular, and it left me wanting more. Even though it started out slow, I'm definitely glad I stuck it out, because it turned into an amazing read. I recommend this book for adults and teens who are looking for an exciting new vampire story!

ReVamped was one of those quick, enjoyable reads. Dawn is a born vampire, which is different from a vampire who is made. Because Dawn was born a vampire, she ages until she produces a child, thus ending her aging.

A nineteen-year-old Born vampire, Dawn lives in a world where vampires are akin to celebrities. There are vampire reality TV shows: Transylvania Shore and the Next Vamp Idol. Blood Cola and Blood Bull are drinks made specially for vampires, blood included. There’s even a vampire president -- and Dawn is his daughter. It’s clear the author spent a lot of time thinking up creative touches for her world, and while I’m not always a fan of so much pop culture, I like it when it’s twisted like in “ReVamped.” It makes the world of “ReVamped” similar to modern day, just with vampires.

Ada Adams also put her own spin on several vampire myths. For example, instead of humans using garlic to ward vampires off, the vampires eat garlic so they can go out into the sun without frying. There are also two types of vampires, Born and Made, and Born vampires aren’t immortal.

After spending her entire life at Scarlet House -- sort of like the White House, but for vampires -- Dawn is thrilled to get her first mission. Her father sends her to Angel Creek to train four vampires to be the town’s replacement guardians. She’s sure it’s going to be an easy mission … until she meets her recruits. They are some of the weakest and most unskilled vampires she’s ever met. They’re practically human.

Sophie, Seth, Brooke, and Hunter are somewhat stereotypical characters. Sophie is the shy librarian, Seth is the gamer nerd, Brooke is the boy-crazy cheerleader, and Hunter is the town drunk. However, all four grow over the course of the book, and had their own stories that I’d also like to hear more of. It was also refreshing to see vampires that weren’t sexy, super powerful, and skilled in everything, all rolled into one.

Dawn herself is full of contradictions. While she’s a trained warrior, she’s also lacking experience in “real life” due to her sheltered upbringing. Boys are a prime example. I could relate to that, and I’m sure other readers will, too. And though she’s a vampire, the thought of drinking from a living human is sorta nasty. She would much rather have her blood neatly packaged.

My only complaint with “ReVamped” is the overly descriptive writing. At first, all the adjectives kept drawing my attention away from the story, but once I got used to it, it didn’t bother me. And that could be something I’m extra sensitive to right now, because I try not to do it in my own writing.

I’m not going to talk about the plot, because I’d probably spoil it if I did. I will say there were some surprises that I really didn’t expect, and I’m looking forward to seeing what the author does next with these characters and the world she’s created. I’ve already tweeted Ada to find out how Book 2 is coming along.

If you’re sick of the usual vampire story -- I was, before this book -- give “ReVamped” a try. There’s a ton I’m not mentioning, including some romance, lots of action, and a creepy bad guy, so chances are you’ll find something you like.

The fab five vampires that protected the small town of Angel Creek got caught up in the celebrity lifestyle, abandoning the town, and ultimately leaving it open and vulnerable to rogue vampire attacks. It is Dawn mission to corral the only other 4 vampires that reside there, train them, and turn them into the town's ultimate protectors.

She wasn't planning on a group of weak vampires that had no training, nor was she expecting Ethan, the human, or Sebastian, the dark and brooding vampire. And when a town resident is kidnapped during a scuffle between Dawn, the new recruits, and the rogues, it is now up to Dawn to find her. Little does she know that she's the target of a vampire obsessed with her.

Excellent..this novel is excellent! This is a fresh, nice change of the vampire story. I enjoyed reading every bit of it. The story flowed and was pretty solid. There were some spontaneous passages that were abruptly shoved into the plot but they ended up smoothing out and ultimately making sense. The novel is gritty, full of action, and has romantic elements. The interactions between each character were well thought out. The tension between both Dawn and Ethan, and Dawn and Sebastian was written well. Overall this book is fast-paced, attention drawing, and different than other young adult vampire novels.

There were parts of the book that I really liked but there were also some aspects that didn't work for me.

I'm a big believer in supporting Canadian authors and so I thought this would be a fun opportunity to showcase some homegrown talent. Unfortunately, REVAMPED is something of a mixed bag for me. There were parts of the book that I really liked but there were also some aspects that didn't work for me.

Let's start off with the positive. I really like the world that Ada Adams has created. Vampires are out and have their own system of government. They help protect the human population and the public is generally quite enthralled, to the point that some vampires are trying to make it big as celebrities. There are only a couple rules: don't drink from unwilling humans and don't turn humans (because the vampires want to remain exclusive). Dawn, our protagonist, is special because she's the daughter of the president of the vampires and because she's was Born, not Made. There are two types of vampires in this world: the Made, who were transformed into vampires, and the Born, who are more rare and who are born as vampires. They start off as babies and grow just like humans do, and will continue to age until they give birth to another Born. From the way they're described in the book, it seems like the female Born can have a longer lifespan, since they have to birth a baby to stop aging, but I could be missing something. I think it's a neat world and it has a lot of layers that I'd like to see explored.

I also thought the general plot of REVAMPED was nice. It centres around Dawn's first mission outside of the vampire headquarters where she was born and raised to be a warrior. She's quite excited to have her own mission and it shows. Of course, she's not exactly thrilled when she sees the vampires she has to transform into the new guardian squad of Angel Creek but she does what she can. There are some twists and turns that keep REVAMPED from being entirely predictable, though some of the B story lines progressed as expected. I particularly liked learning more about the family histories and the unexpected ties between some of the characters in the book. As I was reading REVAMPED, I really did want to know what was going to happen next, particularly once the bad guy's motivations were explained.

On the down side, the characters in the book are pretty generic. Dawn is an adequate protagonist but she didn't really grab my attention. There's nothing inherently wrong with her as a character but she didn't jump off the page. Similarly, the people Dawn meets in Angel Creek are rather stock in most cases, though there are some people who were quite entertaining. I was particularly fond of Hannah, who's a well-meaning ditz, and I thought Sebastian and Ethan were well written. I wish that all of the characters had as much back story as these guys, particularly Sophie, one of the vampires in Angel Creek. We get hints about her past and she's by far the most interesting of the vampires that Dawn trains, though she doesn't get much page time.

One thing that did detract from the novel for me was the actual writing style. This is Ada Adams' first novel and I think it shows. REVAMPED sometimes has a juvenile feel to it, which affected my enjoyment of the novel at certain points. On the plus side, though, the author does add a lot of humour to her story, which I enjoyed.

Overall, I thought REVAMPED was a fun, fluffy YA vampire novel, suitable for readers who want a light read. I strongly encourage you to try out the excerpt below and see if you enjoy it.

Born of a vampire mother, Borns have increased strength and abilities, above that of any Made vampire, but are still partly human. In any given generation, only about five vampires are born.

Dawn's father sends her to Angel Creek to train a new group of vampires to be the town's protectors. Unfortunately the previous vampire crew left the town to pursue fame and fortune on shows such as the Next Vamp Idol and Transylvania Shore. Dawn is thrilled that her father believes in her and excited for a mission, but what she doesn't know is that this town holds the key to learning all the secrets about her past.

When Dawn gets to town, she realizes her mission is much harder than it first appeared. The vampire crew is inexperienced at best, and there's a vampire in town that seems offended by her very presence.

The story takes some very interesting turns, and I don't want to give anything away here. Let me just say that there are enemies lurking everywhere, both human and vampire.

I really enjoyed how the author played with vampire folklore and injected humor into the action and romance. The action and intrigue start from word one and never let up. But don't worry, there's a brewing romance and quite the ending... you'll definitely be anticipating Angel Creek, #2.

Dawn is a well-developed and interesting character, strong but human-like in her approach to life. But her vampire crew and potential love interests are just as interesting. If a character appears, they have importance for the story and Dawn's life. I only wish there would have been some more insight into the werewolves and more of a payoff for Dawn and Sebastian. Hopefully in #2.

With this debut novel, Ada Adams breathes new life into the paranormal/vampire genre. I am excited to see what comes next.

I loved this book! I flew threw it in just several hours, reading way past my bedtime :) I think the thing I liked best about ReVamped was that it showed vampires as vulnerable, still almost human creatures. In most of vampire literature, we are accustomed to vamps as strong, smooth, undead warriors with no flaws. The vamps in ReVamped, however, are more like underdogs--none of them are really the alpha creatures we have seen before.

Dawn was a great narrator. I liked her as a person too, which is super important to me in a main character. Even though she has been a vamp her whole life, she still is not as cool and collected as one would expect--she often trips over her words and awkwardly blurts out what she is thinking. I loved her.

The rest of the characters were awesome too--each of the vampires in Dawn's group has their own unique personality which I really enjoyed getting to know. I'd have to say my fave of the group is Brooke. She has hilarious moments in which she is an airhead, but when Dawn was in a moment of need, she was there for her.

The plot gradually rose to its' climax, and the end did not disappoint. I also really loved the history behind the town and the characters. That was one of the best parts of the story for me, learning the truth about Sebastian, and Dawn. The ending was bittersweet and perfect, and though I'm not sure where the story will go from here, I will definitely be there to continue the ride!(less)

Werewolves also exist, but they are a far cry from the robust, domineering beings we are accustomed to. Adams puts other unique twists on the old legends as well -- vampires are not only created, but can also be born (thus possessing greater abilities). There are no sparkles or desperately brooding romances in this novel. The main character, nineteen-year-old Dawn, is the daughter of the vampire President. She is a powerful (born vampire) protagonist whose life is somewhat shrouded in secrecy. Confined to her father's mansion, she jumps at the chance to go on a mission to the endearing Angel Creek, a small town in need of new vampire guardians. Here, she is to train four oddball vampires to protect their town and fellow humans. One vampire is a bubbly cheerleader, the next is a newly turned video-game geek, another is an addict, and the last is a librarian. If this doesn't sound like it would make for quite the interesting plot, there is also the alluring vampire Sebastian who refuses to join training and the overly-powerful human Ethan who are both vying for Dawn's affection. Needless to say, the mission is not quite as simple as Dawn or her father bargained for. There are many setbacks and enigmas in the seemingly perfect Angel Creek. You will be on the edge of your seat (or your bed, if you're up late trying to finish this) as Dawn discovers information about her life and those around her. I read "ReVamped" all in one sitting; both the plot and the characters command your attention until the end. You will want to finish it so that you can unravel all of the mysteries. I do not want to give anything away, but rest assured that there are quite a few plot twists by the end of the story. "ReVamped" is jam-packed with adventure, action, romance, and humor. Besides having a great vocabulary and effortless writing style, Adams really knows how to throw in the element of humor. Typically we don't think of "funny" and "vampires" as complementary subjects, but you would be surprised. I like to see a bit of sarcasm in paranormal novels, as most authors are too afraid to brighten the sinister category. I would give "ReVamped" five stars for originality, as well as a captivating crew of characters (both villain and heroine alike). I cannot wait to see what Adams has in store for us in her next novel, "ReAwakened"!

I want to start off by saying that I ABOSLUTELY love this book! I read this novel in two days!!!

It keeps you wanting more and more! This novel includes vampires, comedy, mystery, saving mankind, adventure, mission, action, and did I mention HOT romance with two gorgeous men? This is not your ordinary vampire book, no siree. In a day and age where pretty much 70% of any paranormal, UF, supernatural, etc novels are about vampires, I found ReVamped to be lovely and a breath of fresh air.

In a day and age where pretty much 70% of any paranormal, UF, supernatural, etc novels are about vampires, I found ReVamped to be lovely and a breath of fresh air.

The world-building was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Imagine a Sookie Stackhouse Novels or even Chicagoland Vampires setting. A world where everybody knows of the existence of vampires, they’re respected and treated like celebrities and so on. However, the lore was particularly interesting and new. Adams’s vampires can stay in the sun, as long as they eat garlic cloves every day and they drink Blood Juice – donor blood mixed with juice. There are also two types of vampires, the Born and the Made, names that speak for themselves, I think.

The Born can even have children and are stronger and more powerful than Made vampires. Oh, and werewolves are peaceful hippies!

Dawn is a vampire, daughter of the president of vamps and in charge of training everyone in the Program for New Vampires at the Scarlet House. She’s a great leader, funny, sweet and an all together awesome character. For a 19-year-old, she’s been sheltered her entire life, but she manages to be just fine when left on her own. When the group that was protecting Angel Creek disbands, her father sends her there to train new recruits. Only they can barely be called vampires, they’re so weak and untrained.

This was definitely my favorite part of the novel, the boot camp for misfit vampires. Hilarious. Each and every one of them – Brooke, Sophie, Hunter and Seth – really sucked at being vampires and so Dawn needed to revamp them, hence the name of the book. I really liked all of them, especially Brooke, who was not the stereotype I was expecting; thank you, Adams!

Both Ethan and Sebastian were interesting and believable enough to be romantic interests, although if I were to choose, I’d go with Ethan. Sweet, good-looking and a good guy in the end.

The plot moved at kind of a slow pace and I found myself wishing for more action, less talk. But I did stay engaged until the end and I never, NEVER, saw the twist coming. Bam! What?! <– my reaction.

All in all, ReVamped was an entertaining, at times down right hilarious, easy read, with an interesting plot and likeable characters. If you haven’t had enough of vamp books so far, I thoroughly recommend you read this.
