Alana ~ The Book Pimp
4's... Ignore the lackluster title and cover, it's more than worth the read! Update July 2012- cover has been changed, so that's not an issue as much now.

Where has this book been hiding? I am SO glad I stumbled across it and was allowed to read it in exchange for an honest review. I know the cover is just kind of *Meh* and the title is OK (it does actually correlate to the story)... but this book NEEDS to be read. If you like urban fantasy with hot vampires, strong non-human female protagonists

I got this book for free to read and review from Making Connections:
Amazing book! It is more UF than PNR.
I loved how Nick was the one doing the wooing (if it can be called that) and how he seemed to respect her privacy.
I really liked Cory's character-how kickass and selfless she was and still unsure about her control.
The story was exactly the right length but it does have potential to be developed into a series.
I would love to read more about Edge and

Nature abhors a vaccuum. This comes in as a 4star read for me. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Cory DeLacy has spent a great deal of her life atoning for mistakes made in her youth. She also hasn't forgotten those that have helped her during her very long life. Cory's adoptive father comes to her, hat in hand for a favor-please watch over an assassinated councilman's daughter (and her security team), who is slated to take her fathers place on the council. However the attracti

Corrine, owner of the bar, Darlings, was hiding a secret from the world. That made no difference to her family, friends and employees because they had secrets of their own. They were incredibly loyal, it didn't matter if they were vampires, fae, weres or demons. The past and present collide when Nick is forced to hide out at Darlings. He has an immediate and overwhelming attraction to Corrine, which she finds mutual. It takes all Corrine's family and friends to save her when Trevayne comes to ex ...more

There are so many great things to say about this book. It's witty, sexy, and easy to read. I found the beginning a little hard to get through, but as soon as Cory was introduced and I started learning about her and her secretive past, I was hooked. The tension between her and Nick came right off the screen.
The thing I think I loved the most about this book was the fact that I could relate to Cory and her desire to protect everyone she took in. Something evident as you were introduced to all of

Awakening The Nightmare is an enjoyable story that continues to pique your interest as you continue to read.

The characters each had their own quirks and mannerisms that make them stand out from each other. Some were more delightful, than others, as is the case with most books. Cory and Nick were likable, but I found myself a little more curious about the secondary characters. I'm crossing my fingers that we will see more of them! Cory is a fierce female protagonist that was fun to read about as

I am struggling to write a review for this book. I really enjoy this genre and there were aspects of the storyline that I loved but then there were a lot of things I despised. I finished days ago and I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about reading this book.

Cory's identity and history is a mystery though there are lots of clues throughout the text that give away what she could be. Sh

This was one of the three books that was recommended for me to read in the Undercover Enabler Book Challenge. Of the three choices, I had read all of the Lords of Deliverance series even the new release so I couldn't choose that option. The other two choices were recent or relatively releases by authors/series unknown to me. I was a little disappointed since there are sooo many books in my tbr pile. Additionally, I was very reluctant because the remaining two books' titles, book covers, and even ...more

The heroine Corrine DeLacy is unidentifiable to other preters, all they know is that she is one, but not what. And that's the way she likes it. Her heritage is not something she is particularly proud of. And she is also trying to atone for a past that she is ashamed of. Cori takes in preters that need a helping hand or are being hunted for all the wrong reasons. Everyone knows better then to try to go up against her and her staff at her pool hall.

For that reason an old friend asks a favor of he
When I first saw the title of this book, I was expecting a horror book. I don’t get to read many horror stories, and this one had me really excite. If there was any horror in the book; I couldn’t find it. However what I did find were very interesting characters and a unique plot.
This was an enjoyable read. This book has a lot of interesting characters. They are very different from each other. They all come from a different kind of preternatural. They all have their own troubles. They a

Great story!!!! There are a ton of characters and every mystical creature you can imagine. There are a few Vampires, Fey, Werewolves, Demons ect. ect and they all have to behave and get along. Cole (Corinne) as she likes to be called by friends, Ms. DeLacy for Nick, owns a bar called Darling’s where everyone seems to hang out in and is also known as a very good place to hide from those you are running from, and in this story everyone is running from something. At times it seemed frustrating that ...more
I enjoyed this book a lot. A strong start for a series. Cory owns a club that serves supes & humans. All of her employees are supes that are hiding for one reason or another. Cory herself doesn't let anybody know exactly what she is. Her adoptive father shows up asking her to take in his son and a group of other supes that are hiding while a council member is trying to slaughter them. Cory and his son are attracted to each other but she's been burned so bad in the past she does everything sh ...more

I love this book, I didn't imagine what Cory was going to end up being, all the supernatural world around and the relation she had with everyone of them for being part of her life, the way she protects and respects each one of them's life because she better then anyone understands that we all have secrets, things we are not proud about.
Like i said, every turn in this book I couldn't have imagine.
Thanks for sharing this book with us and I will keep reading for sure, is good to read an adult book
Loved this book. Smartly written with a story that I haven't already read 100 times. The use of many different species worked...and sometimes it doesn't. I'd recommend to anyone that likes vamps, demons and shifters. Sexy too!!!!
My Review Short and Sweet

First off I have to say ignore the cover. I don't think it fits the story. Ok now onto the good stuff...I really enjoyed this story! I love when we have all types of supernatural creatures into this mix (when it works and this one absolutely works).

Cory is a strong female lead who kicks ass! Enter the sexy Vampire Nick and you have one steamy read. Not only do you get a great paranormal romance add in a good mystery, surprises, and intrigue and you have a hit!

I was given this book to read in exchange for a review. I have to say that upon reading the summary for it that it sounded like something I would enjoy. And for the most part I did. Miss Malone is by no argument a good writer who can easily capture the reader's interest.

So let's start with the characters of the book. The lead character, Corinne "Cory" DeLacy quickly intrigued me. It was known right off that Cory was hiding a secret about who she was and aspects of her past which is one reason wh

I received this book as a freebie thought the group making connections because it looked kick arse & it didn't disappoint!

I just have to start this review with...WOW total wow the synopsis & that god awful Cover explain little to nothing about the pure delicious awesomeness that hides within awakening the nightmare.

I received this book from the Author for an honest review. The only bias-ness that I give a review in ARR is for some grammar/spelling issues; as I know that they will be fixed (usually).

So this book review is totally honest.

All around, I liked this book. There were strong, understandable characters. The plot was well thought out and had a good flow. There were no gaps in storyline or logic. All details were given in a sufficient manor. I really enjoyed this book!

Note: This review is my opinion, and it is skewed to my likes and preferences

I really enjoyed reading this book, it had every form of preternatural you could imagine.

Who or what is Corinne (Cory) DeLacy? Thankfully the author doesn't give everything way until the end of the book, suffice it to say from the beginning of the book you see her as an entrepeneur, and bad ass preternatual bounty hunter.

Enter bad guy vampire, Trevayne complete with his megalomania. Trevayne and his demon sid

I really really liked this. The story was fantatsic, I loved the characters, their relationships, the bond/anger/hatred/irritation between Cory and Nick, and I felt her pain every step of the way.

Cory feels she must keep the secret of what she truly is and her past from those she cares about. She doesnt want to hurt them and they have come to trust her. She has a big heart, despite a quick temper, witty humour and fierce strength. She takes care of her people and when things start heating up in
Awesome book. Really hope there is a sequel planned even though its been 26 months since release of first book and the author looks like she dropped off the face of the planet.
Great book - easy read with good characters.

The main character Cory, is a strong female lead with her own problems she tries to keep them for herself. Nick, her counterpart is a strong male , who learns more about himself and is willing to let her lead than the other way around. It is definetly a nice change od male / female roles, which in rather enjoyed.

All other characters are equally interesting esp. Cory's Dad, who could easily fill his own book.

Lanie Malone wrote a nice story and I hope

An enjoyable and interesting story that made me reluctant to put down the book. The main characters are likeable and you find yourself wanting to know more about the side characters and what their back stories are.
I didn't give this book 5 stars, I really wanted too but I felt that the bad guys were defeated too easily, maybe that's because I didn't want the story to end and the cover really doesn't do the story justice. I imagine a cover with a tough, sassy, warrior woman with flowing dark hair
Really enjoyed this. More UF than PNR. Demons, Vamps, Fae and Shifters.
Bk 1 in a series. Can't wait to read more of this world and all the characters.
Freaky cover. not how I see the MC - Cory - bar owner (Darlings), strong female bounty hunter and ?more.
She is very protective of her cast of misfits - Nick, Edge, Artie, Vance, Addie, Devyn... and 'Belly'.
Jessi Szigethy
This was a nice surprise. I picked it up as a deal of the day type thing not expecting too much. The story and characters are easy to like. Ignore the not so great title even though it makes sense later in the book.
Elienora the Sensation (Elienora's Kindle)
I quit reading at 46%, at that point I still don't know where the story is going, no detail on whatever is going on and really not much was going on up to 46% anyway. So yeah, DNF.
An enjoyable read that started off a little stilted, but improved dramatically as the tale went on, giving a good cast of characters and a good plot.

“So I should be prepared to hear voices in my head… other than the usual ones.” Vance added the last part with a grin.
Cory gave him a droll stare and said, “Exactly.”
“Edge rolled his eyes as he turned to face her. “I appreciate your concern but I think I can handle a few vampires on my own. Besides… it wasn’t anything serious. I have no unsavory intentions towards her. Despite what you may think of me I am not completely without conscience.”
“I don’t think that. I think you’re a man- whore, there’s a difference.”
