3.5 stars. Very romantic story of emotionally detached and forthright cop Jordan, who has transferred to a new town to recover from a shooting. He meets Sebastian, a deaf volunteer policeman, who is very open and full of life.

The instant attraction and lust between Jordan and Sebastian could melt the paint off the walls. I'm a big fan of these intense love stories, with lots of talking and kisses that last for several pages. Be warned. The foreplay in this story lasts a LONG TIME! Jordan and Se...more

Ok, first I have to say I don't know why, but I imagined a whole diffferent kind of book than this turned out to be.
It was a nice story, sweet and some funny moments, mostly from Bro, Sebastian's brother!
There are no big misunderstandings or external meddling to distract form Jordan and Sebastian's developing relationship, which is slow to start, and they don't jump into bed right away, which was good!
But, my biggest niggles were Jordan, who in the first few pages makes a point to describe...more

Tina K, you know me so well! I fucking loved this book! It featured a hot Alpha cop, but it really was a love story more than anything. It was incredibly romantic and I loved how sweet and sappy the two MCs were with each other. The secondary characters were a fabulous addition and I'm so excited that at least one of them has their own story out already A Luminous Touch which I haven't had a chance to read yet but just moved WAY up my reading list. I'm going to read the sequel Love in Plain Sigh...more

If you are looking for action, fantastic witty story line, and great expectations that this book will blow you away, I'm afraid you won't find it here.
But, If you are looking for just a nice story, not angst, about 2 guys falling in love ..then this is for you.
For me, it was pretty lovely indeed.
although, I have one complain about the cover, the two guys on the book cover are too young, and it would have been nice is would resemble more the two main characters from the story, just a small detai...more

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this book. When it first came out, the cover kept catching my attention but I never picked it up. When I started reading, however, I was so enamored with the writing, Jordan's voice and the fact one character has a disability that I was immediately drawn into the story and didn't want to put it down.

What one needs to know, however, is that this is a slow-burn book. There are sporadic scenes of suspense but otherwise it is filled with sexual tens...more
I adored this book. Some might see the prose as extraordinarily flowery, but it never crossed that line for me. Wonderful read.

Sounds of Love is the first book I’ve read by Susan Laine and it definitely won’t be my last! I loved the fast-paced storyline and the strong emotional bond between the two main heroes. When I started this book last night, I had intentions of reading a few chapters and finishing it the next morning. Wrong! Once I started Sounds of Love I was immediately drawn into the lives of these very interesting and likeable characters, and I wasn’t able to put the book...more

I was so very disappointed in Sounds of Love I feel like crying. I wanted to like it so much, based on the blurb and that very pretty cover but in the end, it just did not work for me. Mostly it all comes down to one of the MC’s annoying the crap out of me. So whenever he opened his mouth, or rambled on internally I pitched a fit.

Jordan Waters is a cop and he has just moved to a new city after suffering a gunshot wound. He has new partner in the fraud...more
I really don't know what I expected from this story. I liked Jordan for the most part, however, really got tired of the inner dialogue, there was just too much that it became annoying and I started skimming some of it. I think if the author had also given us the same from Sebastian it would have balanced it out much better. While this was an insta-love, I did enjoy how the author put them together and didn't have them jumping into bed within the first couple of pages. There was no conflict, no a...more

Going by the blurb this seems to be a story about grown men. Looking then at the cover I'm confused. I mean, really pretty people on the cover but at least in my imagination that I got from reading the blurb they so do not fit. Just my 2 cents.
This is one of those books that I really had mixed reactions about which totally surprised me as I had seen quite high ratings and reviews from my GR friends plus found the blurb really appealing.

I actually struggled to engage with the story for about the first 50%. So what didn't I enjoy? I'm not sure if I totally liked the first person POV. I think I actually got a little sick of Jordan's voice. Jordan seemed all over the place, flitting from thought to thought. He could be in the middle of a...more
Sometimes with policemen as MCs, we get a lot of plot and some romance thrown in between. Here, our two heroes could've been florists and it wouldn't have made a difference, because this book concentrated mainly on their relationship (yeah, I guess the whole message about family got through better with all of them being tough men from the force) I really didn't mind though. I loved the pace and intensity of them getting together plus Sebastian's handicap made it all even more interesting. All th...more
Nice and sweet story with very little angst, just as I love it ))
I'm a Jordan girl all the way, but I like Sebastian a great deal. Their relationship development was so touching <3

I may be in the minority, but I didn't really care for Jack and Bro. Bro's fun in small doses, but I'm not all that interesten in teenager/very young adult characters. And Jack's not my type of character at all, plus I didn't like how it was stressed he's so much hotter/taller/better than Jordan. I liked Kevin a lot...more
I really enjoyed this book. It was a light read and it was also smoking HOT!!! I loved Sebastian's and Jordan's romance and their relationships with their brothers Jack and Bro. Kevin was also cool character and the ending was just perfect... almost too sweet! ;D

My first book from this author and I have to say I'm impressed. I'm also delighted to read somehing written by other Finn. ;DD ^^

Very cute, sexy read. Deaf police volunteer who is super hot and a cop who needs to learn how to love. Couldn't put it down! Just what I wanted! One niggling point- short fragmented sentences really annoyed me. I think they were to show some fragmented thoughts, but it was a little to get over in the beginning. It definitely was a non issue as I got into the story.

I'm actually giving this a "high 2 stars," partially because I haven't finished it yet, and don't feel super compelled to.

What I liked the most:

I thought this author did a good job on the disability-front. I'm legally blind, so whenever I read about a disabled character, I'm always curious how the author will handle it and how realistic it will be. She did a nice job here--both with Sebastion, how he's managing his disability and his strong will to maintain his independence, and Jordan, who want...more
I wanted to love this book, I really did. I just love a good story with a disabled character and this story was not it. The book blurb seemed promising but it missed the mark. Sabastion being Deaf is pretty much the bases of this story and yet I feel like not enough detail was given to it. So many things seemed over looked. For example (view spoiler)...more

The plot was all about the romance here with anything else – for example, Sebastian’s handicap, or both main characters being with the police force – taking a back seat. As different as they may appear, Jordan and Sebastian are actually quite alike. They both come from defunct families, they have both a younger brother they’re very close to, they’re both lonely and ready to find their respective other half (even though Jordan takes a little longer to realize the latter). Next to the romance, fam...more
I loved the idea of this story when I read the blurb and I had already enjoyed a different book by the author. There is just something heroic about a person with disabilities making their way independently in the world and doing it in such a way that he is also a wonderful romance hero to a man that as a cop he is generally thought of the one as rescuer and not rescuee.

Jordan Waters has recently moved to DC and transferred from robbery/homicide to fraud division after a near fatal shooting. He i...more
Characters with enough experience to know who they are and what they want. An MM romance that is erotic, heartwarming and funny. I loved it!

Jordan is a detective who knows what he wants. He is loud and out, unapologetic about his sexual prowess and is used to getting any man he wants. When he meets the angelic-looking Sebastian at poker night, his interest is triggered. I loved Jordan's aggressive pursuit of Sebastian - a beautiful disabled volunteer police officer. Sebastian is mischievous, swe...more
I'm not going to rate this one as I've only read about 15% of it and I really can't bear to read any further. Maybe it's just me, but I think the writing is awful, the main character is awful and doesn't arouse any interest at all. I spent a lot of the time cringing or rolling my eyes.

Some things that stood out were:
'I was lavender blond by birth' Really?
'Product of all those safety lessons as a child, I guess, doing the same myself.' Is this even a sentence?
'Sadness glided from his direction on...more
Great banter between the main characters toward the beginning. Picked this one up based on novelty, since I haven't run across any mm romance with a deaf character. Wish there'd been more development on the hearing impairment and its influence upon the romantic relationship. The book had a lot of potential conflicts, but there wasn't a lot of struggle involved in clearing them. Conflict popped up randomly and faded in the path of least resistance. Everything was shiny and bright with new love, c...more
This is one of those books that I have put of reading for whatever reading. I think the cover threw me, as both the guys there look very young. But in the book they aren't that young. Our tattooed MC is actually in his early thirties... so I shouldn't have paid attention to the cover!

I'm glad I finally got around to reading it though. It's a sweet and romantic tale, with characters that aren't perfect. And while there are some bits that did niggle a little...the time frames seem a bit inconsiste...more
That was lovely, a real feel good read. I like Jordan's voice and Sebastian, adore Bro and would love to read more about Jack and Kevin :)
Blue Bayou .
I liked this story however I felt there was something missing. I have a feeling it was Sebastian's response/or lack of response to Jordan's anger. I am all for compassion however it seemed to easy for Sebastian to accept and move onto something else. Maybe it was the lack of Sebastian's thoughts that was missing for me. Maybe I needed to know why he acted the way he did. I still liked the story and I will most likely read more of Susan Laine.
I'm disappointed in this story. The storyline was developed around Jordan and Sebastian. More or less a slow and emotional getting together story. Emotionally speaking it wasn't bad one, but so empty and bland. At the end I even skipped the sex scenes, which tells you how interesting it really was. For my taste it was a boring, slow and a mussy getting together story. I was happy when it ended!
I was disappointed by this book. Having read Love in Plain Sight, I was all set to enjoy reading the story of how Sebastian and Jordan met, but this was not the case. A lot of the time I spent reading Sounds of Love was spent wondering how on earth Jordan could possibly be real? For such a "mellow" guy, Jordan has way too many things running through his head ALL THE TIME!

I'd suggest skipping this one entirely and just read Love in Plain Sight, you'll enjoy it more.
