I take offense because selkies are seal-people.
And awkward because if he's got a tail, he can't exactly kick, can he?
And this:
"Marin collapsed on the pallet covered with sealskins."
worries me a lot.
=_=
If you're going to write pwp, don't go try putting in excuse plot to make it more "serious." Sheesh. It just makes it not-fun because now I'm too busy being worried about the MC because he throws out there "Oh, no. I can't be with him cuz Imma fall into codependence."
Argh. Okay, most of these froof...more

Jamie is not in denial about the fact that he is a total stray magnet. It goes all the way back to pets he brought home as a child. The strays he brings home now though are in the form of needy men who always seem to be looking over their shoulders for someone other than him. He never expected the little lost merman that he meets on Lake Washington to follow him home. He just assumed it would be a one-time tryst and they would go on their separate ways.

Jamie is just the king of picking up strays – dogs, orchids, men. He’s the king of “make it better”. He is the quintessential codependent. When he is out on the water, relaxing on his boat, he is accosted by a dead-looking creature who asks to board the “ship”. Jamie isn’t sure what he is, a dead guy? A joke? A really desperate gay man looking to get laid? Jamie is kind of ticked – he wanted to be alone! Because he goes by the “make it better” scenario, when he...more

When Jamie decides to drown his sorrows on his boat, he doesn’t expect to be propositioned by a beautiful stranger who swims up to him in the lake. Slightly grey skinned and speaking of life below the seas, Jamie is sure the man is crazy. In his slightly inebriated state, Jamie’s inability to turn away strays seems to be even more pronounced and their meeting becomes a little more than he originally planned...

I was somewhat skeptical when I first started this book since I can't really say I have a thing for fish, even if they are of the human/shifter variety. However, Daisy Harris did manage to break me of my prejudice after just a few paragraphs and I found her Merman to be cute and funny.

What Jaime needs is a boyfriend that isn’t down on his luck. No more of these guys who take all his money, his heart, and then leave. The last thing he needs is a merman who isn’t even out of the closet. Marin may be good looking but he’s got a whole bag full of issues and no where to lay them down at.
Marin just wants to be who he is at heart. Though never having been with a man before makes him incredibly needy and Jaime isn’t sure the killer body is worth all the hassle it presents. Jaime and...more

(I'm the second one even though I turned my review in on 4/22/2012.)
Jamie, a knight in shining armour, is here to save the day! He's protective and gives everything to his lovers. His trend of lovers has been piss poor. He seems to home in like a heat seeking missile on the hot mess men who take and never give back. Even though Jamie is a sweet bartending guy, his character can easily be swapped out for a female character – the one who wants to "save" the guy and help him become better. Once th...more
