I really liked this book. It is even better than the first book. I really liked the world and the story was really great. I liked that Terra Harmony created her own genre, eco-fantasy, and such an original story with this series. Where Water was still a bit of an introduction to the world, Air takes us right into the story. Kaithlin is pregnant and the Seven wants to find and Shawn. But Shawn has his own plans and plans.

I really liked this book. It is even better than the first book. I really liked the world and the story was really great. I liked that Terra Harmony created her own genre, eco-fantasy, and such an original story with this series. Where Water was still a bit of an introduction to the world, Air takes us right into the story. Kaithlin is pregnant and the Seven wants to find and Shawn. But Shawn has his own plans and plans.

This book has a fantastic story and I enjoyed every minute of it. I have to admit that some parts where a bit slow paced, but the story kept interesting and I just wanted to keep reading. And I really like Terra harmony’s writing style. The story is also pretty unpredictable, I was again and again surprised by twists I didn’t see coming.

The only min point of this story was the fact that Kaithlin is pregnant and this limits her ability to do certain things. So this book contains less action and less tromance and more dealing with her pregnancy. I also think that sometimes the focus of this book was a bit too much on Kaithlin and her pregnancy.

The characters develop some more in this book and I really liked most of them. We get to see more of Alex in this book and I really liked him. We are also introduced to some new characters and of course we get to know more about Kaithlin and Micah. They again have obstacles to overcome in their relationship. I liked seeing how the characters developed and changed in this book.

I just really like this story. It is a story I keep thinking about and I really want to read the rest of this series and read what happens next. It is such an interesting world and a great story. What I also like is that it is obvious that the author spend much time researching facts, there are real events that happened to which is referred in this book and this makes it even more believable, even though it is a fantasy story.

To conclude: I really liked this book, it was even better than Water and I really enjoyed reading it. I liked the story and seeing the characters develop. The only thing I didn’t like was the focus on Kaithlin’s pregnancy, but I understand that this is an important part of the book. I would surely recommend this series to people who like original fantasy stories or even people who care about saving the world, because this story is a strange combination of both interests. (less)

Although this book has it’s ups and downs it is really good sequel after Water. In water focus was on elements more than realtions between people. We still contionue to discover new things about elements and here the focus is on air. Air went by a lot faster than Water did – I read the two books back to back and the nice thing is that Air picks up pretty quickly after Water finishes.

A lot of the issues I had with Air are the same ones I had with water – Kaitlyn forgives Micah way too easily for some things – such planning on letting Shawn kidnap her again without her knowing, even though she has obviously been so traumatized that she cannot event talk to him about what happened while she was trapped.

Kaitlyn’s pregnancy was the main focus in this book, and the unborn child was an interesting character who was actually able to actively affect the plot in a lot of ways. The only problem was that by focusing on the pregnancy it changed the tone of the book and then to have K suddenly go and run around on a mission when she is 8 months pregnant was just plain absurd. I cannot understand how Micah would let that happen.

The beginning of the book started out pretty slow and then suddenly at the end K was heading out to a mission during her 8th month. The pacing in the book was a bit odd to me, but
At first the thing with the shades was a bit confusing – I didn’t like the initial description of the event, but I loved what happened with them afterwards – especially Sarah’s little coup d’état.

Overall, it is an interesting series, sometimes some of the plot holes/jumps that are made are frustrating, and I am really not too sure about the relationship between Kaitlyn and Micah (I can see the heat but unlike other literary couples the out-of-bed interactions feel a bit off).

I really hope with the next book that the author fleshes out Micah a bit more, I really do want to like him, but his actions are just making it a bit hard (one minute he plans on using her as bait to capture their enemy without her knowing the next he tells her they are getting married the next day and then goes off for four months while she is pregnant). I feel like Kaitlyn is a well developed character and as the series goes on we are slowly learning more about the secondary characters, but I wish we knew more about them now so that I would care about them more, right now the only one that I particularly like is Alex and even then most of his scenes are spent reemphasizing that he is the best friend/shoulder to lean on/tech guy. It is just frustrating that Alex is always worried about Kaitlyn doing something dangerous and Micah disapproving only to have Micah go and put her in worse situations.

Her eco-fantasy Akasha series is now half way through with the release of Air. The first book Water totally blew me away, Air amazed me. Such an interesting combination of eco and fantasy that is working quite well.

Air picks up right where Water left off. Kaitlyn is getting to that uncomfortable point of her pregnancy, no one knows but Susan. Shawn is still up to his dirty plans. Kaitlyn and Micah are barely speaking. Kaitlyn is having weird dreams. Then Vayu shows up and no one seems quiet happy to see him. I personally got a kick out of him, for about the first half of the book anyways. So, The Seven is hot on Shawn's trail but always seem to be one step behind. Then they get word of a wildfire in Australia, and knowing it is the work of Shawn, head there to do their thing.

When Micah AND Shawn find out about Kaitlyn being preggo, I was cracking up. Terra's writing is so descriptive and engaging I could see this scene playing out in my head as I was reading. Not sure who the baby belongs to (remember Shawn had kidnapped Kaitlyn in Water and was a naughty little man) Micah steps up, once again proclaiming his love for Kaitlyn and the baby.

Left at the Chakra with Alex while the rest of the team are following leads, Kaitlyn has a lot of preparing, research, and studying to do. Which also leaves some time for her to get into mischief, what else would you expect?

We also get to know Susan a little better, which made me really happy cause I've really grown to like her. She is a God-send for Kaitlyn, the sister she never had.

The show down occurs in the last few chapters. I am not going to go into details. I don't want to spoil it for anyone. The ending had me so mad (again, you will have to read it to understand why) but needing more...STAT! (Don't worry, I gave Terra a little nudge ;) )

Terra has created an awesome story line with characters that come to life within the pages. Water was easy to read but filled with action, suspense, and laugh out loud moments. Air was no different. Actually it was better because you are familiar with the story line. I feel like I know these characters personally. This is my favorite series by a female author (yes even over Amanda Hocking, who is in a close second). Go ahead and give this series a try, I don't think you will be disappointed!(less)

After experiencing through the jaw dropping cliffhanger in Water, I had my jaw reset and was too excited to continue where the story left off, only to have another cliffhanger that had me running to the doctors again.

If Water was amazing, Air pushed the boundaries of epic. I thought it was impossible to love the story and the characters even more, but Air proved me wrong. I learned to not expect anything when I'm reading Terra's books because she will completely blindside you! One thing I love about the characters, especially Kaitlyn and Micah, is how impulsive they could be. You could hardly figure out their next move and certainly not from the Queen of Spontaneity - Kaitlyn. I had numerous Oh-my-god moments throughout the book and the story was a book of unpredictable twists.

Originality, the prime reason why The Akasha series appeals to me so much. I was impressed by the new terms that was introduced in Water, I just couldn't understand how Terra could come up with the unthinkable . I mean, who installs GPS in trees? Terra Harmony raised environmental awareness in style! And that is what I liked about it.

Kaitlyn has officially become my idol. Impulsive, kickass and straightforward, Kaitlyn is what I am looking for in a heroine. I like her attitude of 'No Bullshitting' and 'Cutting straight to the point', she was not afraid to stand up for herself or take things into her own hand. After the shocking announcement that she was pregnant, Kaitlyn changed from a young lady becoming a Gaia to a mum. A transition that I never expected to see from Kaitlyn. I love the extreme measures that Kaitlyn would take for the safety of her baby.

And Terra ended the story with one of her signature style. CLIFFHANGER. I swear, someone should present an award to Terra with the title 'Queen of Cliffhangers'. If you hate cliffhanger endings, then I believe Terra could change your mind. I am not exaggerating.

Terra makes elemental powers sounds so cool. What's not to like about the book?

Air is the second book in the Akasha series and is a more than worthy follow-up to Water. The book starts off with Kaitlin’s pregnancy having progressed along. Also, Micah and the others are in hot pursuit of Shawn to shut down his rogue organisation. With no one other than Susan knowing about the pregnancy, Kaitlyn gets sent on the missions as well. These missions are action packed and extremely interesting, but they are just the prologue to what is coming next. As the book progresses and both Shawn and Micah come to know of Kaitlyn’s pregnancy, they are left dumbfounded not knowing whose baby it is. I just loved the scene where this happens. I could literally see the looks on their faces. This is the talent of Terra. She can bring the characters to life, living and breathing right before us.

Kaitlyn now gets left behind with Alex to do research on Shawn’s whereabouts and support the team remotely while the others keep looking for Shawn. With idle time, we know what Kaitlyn will be upto, getting in trouble of course! I’ll try to not give out spoilers, but during her research, she stumbles on a way to learn about her powers and to control all the other elements. There is an extremely unique way in which this is accomplished. No way could I have imagined this! But this is also the place where the story slows down quite a bit. Both Kaitlyn and Alex spend a lot of time (and a lot of words) researching, learning and preparing for the showdown with Shawn.

But, Air is not perfect, like Water was. I generally expect the first book in a fantasy series to be big on character development. But Terra has taken an unusual route, and it is the second book where we see how Kaitlyn develops her powers as a Gaia. This is what made the first book big on action, but I knew the character development was coming. But still, the sudden drop in pace due to this left me a bit underwhelmed. This is the small gripe I have with the book. The pacing of the book was a bit too slow for me. I had to get through quite a bit if the book to really get to the action. I think Water created some unrealistic expectations with its edge-of-the-seat action throughout. Now, I can totally understand having to develop a character in fantasy books, showing us just how the person became who she is. But, certain parts felt dragged out, and could have been pruned a bit.

This is definitely not something which will deter me from loving this instalment of the series. Why? Because the action in the final part left me breathless. It was a culmination of EPIC proportions. That part of the book more than redeemed the slowness of the build-up. I can’t just give the ending away, but I am really tempted to. Oh well, maybe just one line. We know that battle lines had been drawn. This book ends with one instalment of that on-going battle between Shawn and the Seven.

So, here’s the final word. This is one of the best new fantasy series I have read. You would be missing out on an awesome experience if my small rant stops you from reading the series. I am sure that all this preparation will tie into the series and will seem necessary when the next book comes out. So go ahead, dive into both the books in the series, you will definitely not regret it.(less)

Kaitlyn has a major life change coming up following the events of the previous book, and she’s not sharing it with the rest of the team, even though they’re going to notice sooner or later.

Instead the team are focusing on tracking down Shawn, and working out exactly what he’s up to, and exactly where he is. This proves to be even more difficult than they expected, but with Shawn leaving them clues to his location, are they walking into a trap?
When will Kaitlyn’s secret come out though? How will everyone react? What exactly is Shawn planning? And is there a method to his madness?

This was a great second instalment to this series, and once again blended a mix of different ideas.

Kaitlyn has matured following the events of the previous book, but she remains a real fire-cracker, and continues to fight for her own independence and what she wants to do. Kaitlyn is definitely not one to back down from a fight, and although she does sometimes avoid difficult conversations, this isn’t to her own detriment.

There wasn’t quite so much romance in this book, partly due to a secret that Kaitlyn was hiding, but Micha persisted in protecting and fighting for Kaitlyn, and it was obvious how much they cared for one another.
There was once again both consensual and non-consensual sex scenes in this book, but again I thought that the author handled these more difficult scenes well, and managed to get this part of the storyline over without making the reader feel uncomfortable, which for me was important.

Once again this book had a unique mix of storylines, with romance, action, magic, and an environmental message. I felt that the science parts of this story were much more ingrained than they were in the first book, and fitted in with the other storylines really well. It can’t be easy to mix such different themes together in one story, but the author seems to not only manage this, but to actually improve on it in this second book.

There was a fair bit of action at the end of this book, along with some twists, an unexpected death, and a very strange and risky decision made by Kaitlyn right at the end. I’m not sure where the author is going with this, but it will certainly be interesting to see what happens to Kaitlyn in the next instalment ‘Fire’.
Overall; a pretty unique series, with romance, action, magic, and the elements/environment, and a feisty leading lady.

I really loved the pacing of this book. There was lots of action at the end but the whole book was full of the tension of the impending showdown. Even in the down times, when the team were merely researching or preparing, I felt on edge, anxious to see what was going to happen next and if they’d be alright. There was drama and intrigue throughout the book and the feeling of an ever present danger. The final action scene was brilliantly written. I felt how afraid yet determined they were and the confusion and horror of the battle. Oh and wow the ending took me by surprise!

As I mentioned in my review of the first book, the world in which these books is written is unique to me. Kaitlyn is a Gaia who can control the elements with the ultimate aim of maintaining/returning a balance in the environment. In book two there was a lot more detail in how Kaitlyn used her powers and the descriptions were powerful and beautiful. We learn even more about the powers in this book but at no point did I feel information overload. I think it was because of the way Kaitlyn learnt, through experience, experimentation and the Shades.

Kaitlyn is my hero! Or I guess I should say heroine. She is tough and determined but also can be moody, lazy and jealous. I love that! No perfect little ‘always does the right thing but hard done to’ main character. Sometimes she says something out loud that is a continuation of her own stream of consciousness and leaves everyone looking at her confused. It’s great, her thoughts and words amuse me so much. You know what she’s thinking and feeling, her priorities and heart are clear, but I was still taken by surprise by her actions. She is no push over, just a tough cookie determined to protect what’s most precious to her. There’s a lot of growth in her character in this book but the essentials remain; she’s independent, full of spirit and determination and loves food. Hey don’t we all?!

Shawn however is one evil *&$*&*% and clearly somewhat unhinged. Rarely have I been so truly disgusted at a bad guy in a series before. I can see why Kaitlyn is so terrified of him and I was so anxious about him reaching her throughout the book. I couldn’t believe how easily her friends put her in danger and was at times furious with them for it! I have to congratulate the author on the character because I truly am scared of him and it takes a lot to scare me.

As for the other characters, I found Alex, Cato and Susan well developed side characters but would like to see more of Micah. He seems a little volatile, sometimes pushy and other times affectionate with Kaitlyn. I want to fall in love with him and I’m pleased he isn’t some perfect gentleman, I like a bit of spice and grit to my main characters, but I would like to see more love between them.

In summary, this is a brilliant second book in the series and I can’t wait to read book 3! We learn so much more about the elements and about Kaitlyn who is one seriously strong no nonsense girl. I felt anxious for her through most of the book but she is just great and I love her. If you haven’t read book 1 and are unsure about it because of the slow start, please persevere, you will be rewarded. Book one ends dramatically and book two continues where it finishes, and after the way book two ends I can tell book three will be just as exciting.(less)

In this book, Kaitlyn is hiding the fact that she is pregnant from everyone except Susan, Micah's sister, because being that Susan's element is water, she could tell that Kaitlyn was pregnant. In fact, Susan was the one to initially tell Kaitlyn. But in book 1, Water, Shawn had kidnapped and raped her repeatedly while holding her hostage so she's afraid that the baby may be Shawn's and not Micah's. That's one of the reasons she keeps putting off telling anyone, especially Micah. With a little help from Susan, however, the secret is revealed not only to Micah but to Shawn as well.

Now Kaitlyn not only has to deal with being pregnant but her and the rest of the Seven are trying to locate Shawn and put a stop to his plans. While trying to train for battle and study up on anything that will help her learn how to control the other elements that she's not very familiar with, Kaitlyn does something that she thinks will help her greatly, but it has some negative side effects she didn't expect.

I felt that the book started out a little slow, perhaps, but apart from that I absolutely loved the interaction between Kaitlyn and Alex, who is the only non-magical one of the bunch. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the things Alex did or said. As for Kaitlyn, there was a time or two where I felt like she needed smacked up side the head for the things that she'd do that ended up backfiring on her. After all, she's pregnant and although she cares very much about her baby, she did things that really could have been harmful.

The book certainly picked up though and was a roller coaster of a ride. It's action packed with betrayals, secrets revealed, a serious battle, humor, romance, and a pretty major cliffhanger. I very much enjoyed the story and can't wait to read the third book in the series.

I really like this series. Although I thought the first book, Water, moved a little slow, it did pick up and I found that I couldn't start Air fast enough. This book has lots of excitement and moves much faster.

Kaitlyn has many struggles in this book and learns more about her powers as a Gaia and what The Seven hopes to accomplish. She learns of betrayal, loyalty and love and in the end a big decision is made.

The greatest compliment I can give this book is that I downloaded "Fire" (the third book in the series) the minute after I finished this one. I was totally floored by the ending and absolutely have to know what will happen next, which I will be doing right after I finish this review ;o).

I guess I should back up a bit though and tell you why I liked this book. Like "Water" before it, "Air" is well-written and the characters engaging. I have learned to expected the unexpected with this series, so...more

I have to give this book 3 stars because the plot plods along in comparison to the first book, Water.

Air picks up immediately where the first left off. Kaitlin's story continues as the secret of her pregnancy is first concealed, then revealed. As the group is preparing for the encounter and possible elimination of Shawn, secrets abound. First of all let me say I need to thank Laura Carter for suggesting this book to me. I had never heard of this series (Akasha Series) and I really enjoyed reading them. Kaitlyn is hiding something huge from everyone, she’s pregnant and the only one that knows is Micah’s sister Susan. Not by her choice though Susan’s element is water so she can tell that Kaitlyn is Pregnant. Okay, I am having a hard time rating this book. There were several issues I had with the book but I did still enjoy it. Air picks up right where Water left off. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it, I wanted to know what would be coming next. This book was much better than the first one. I was given this book to read for an honest review. I went ahead and read the first book so I would have the background to the story. I really enjoyed this book. The first book got off to a slow start but picked up by the end. This book, however, has a lot of action and intrigue in it. I think most of the characters are well developed. I would love to see more depth in Micah and Kaitlyn's relationship. There were some surprises in this book that kept me on the edge of my seat.

One of my most favorite scenes in the book is when Micah and Shawn both realize that Kaitlyn is pregnant. Wonderfully, wonderfully done. And what happened soon after had me grinning so big. Only thing is I am not sure how I feel about Micah. I mean I really like him but I am not crazy about his ‘You woman, me caveman’ attitude. He is very hot and cold when it comes to Kaitlyn and how he reacts with her. One moment he is all caring and loving and then the next he is acting all Neanderthal. So less caveman, more feelings and Micah would be prefect.

I will say I think I loved AIR more than WATER. And that is really saying something because I LOVED WATER. AIR is not as action packed as WATER was but I think that is what I adored about it. I enjoyed the pace the book took and how during the story Kaitlyn was able to learn more about who she is and what she can do. I also loved the addition of the Shades to the story. Even though I was a bit hesitant about them at first I thought the whole idea was genius.

I will say that this author is not afraid to push the envelope. So if you are skirmish when it comes to rape scenes…then thread carefully, there is one in here. Though it is not as horrific as with book one, rape is rape.

AIR is an incredible read that had me hanging on to each and every word Harmony wrote. In fact, I am so excited to read FIRE soon so I can see what played out after this crazy cliffhanger we were given here in AIR. I totally recommend this series if you are looking for something different than what’s out there and love a good suspenseful read that is peppered with romance. (less)

Five stars all the way! Didn't stop at the end of book one just picked this up and kept on going!! Kaitlyn proves that even a mother-to-be can get stuff done! We are introduced to Vayu, who abruptly lets Kaityln know in his most flamboyant way that he's "GAAAYY!!!" What a great scene. I literally laughed out loud. I loved this character to the bitter end. (Plot twist... really Vayu? How dare you?) "stupid bashard" If you read the series you will totally get that!

Again a cliffhanger. AHHHH!!! And I have to wait for the next one. Harmony has done such a great job with this new world. I can't get enough of it. The read is so engaging that it's over before you even know it. Kaitlyn's strength amazes me, she leans on Micah too much I think but as soon as he leaves she steps up. I look forward to the next book so I can find out who is the father of her baby, and see what other messes she gets into.

A little bit better than the first one, this book felt slightly less odd and unreal to me.. I liked Alex's role in the book and I loved that there were many unexpected twists throughout the story.
I will be reading the next one mainly because I'm dying of curiosity but also because I think the plot still has some potential left unexplored.. I hope I'll like it!
Anyways, 3 stars.

This was the second part of a great series. Kaitlyn discovers that she is a Gaia and a powerful one at that. She learns the real abilities of her powers and she also has two men that really wants her but for different reasons. I look forward to the rest of the books in this series.

Air was better than Water because of the ending. I cheered for Kaitlyn as she made a tough decision but was one I was, hoping she would make in the first book. Can't give anything away but if you read Water, get this one. My only complaint is that Fire is now out yet.
