Tim Conroy knows all about patience. He’s waited three years for Rory McCown to get out of jail after doing time for stealing horses from the Blue River Ranch. Now that Rory is eligible for parole, Tim makes it his goal to persuade his boss, Hunter Krause, to give Rory a second chance.

He almost regrets it when Hunter agrees. Rory is a morose loner one moment, then arrogant...more

Hmmm, on one hand, it is nice set-up; Rory, a drifter that has been jailed and Tim, the wrangler who has been having a crush on him. The story sets three years after Rory went to jail and now that he's on parole, Tim is asking his brother to get Rory a job. I like story with people down his luck, you know? While Tim is a choke-full of sunshine and positive attitude, he's like a faithful dog that will not leave his master :). Of course he's the one that being able to help Rory to believe in himse...more

If you haven’t read a story by Zahra Owens then you missing out on a really good storyteller in the M/M romance genre because she has written another compelling story with a budding relationship between two men living day to day on a ranch in Idaho. Floods and Drought is the 3rd book in the Wranglers series and continues the story of life on the Blue River ranch and is picks up 3 years after the end of book 2. Tim works on the ranch and is the w...more

Zahra Owens always puts tension in her stories, and then turns up the heat. FLOODS AND DROUGHT is the third in her Wrangler series, and all of the characters from the first two books come back to help or harm in this one. This is a complex story about complicated men who could not be more opposite one another yet are so strongly attracted to each other that Rory’s three years in prison can’t break their bond.
For Rory, as a recovering alcoholic, there will never be a full-on HEA, but by the end h...more

Apparently there isn't a cowboy story of Zahra's I don't like.

Tim and Rory are a complicated, yet irresistible couple. Like the other books in this series, the two men belong together, but nothing is ever easy. Whether it's tackling with addiction or battling old enemies, the lovers must struggle to be together, and even their personal relationship is far from effortless. But anything can be handled with love, family and friends.

Zahra's writing is realistic, fluid and professional, and every sce...more

What a beautifully written story about two totally opposite and complex men destined to be together. Rory McCowan spent three years in prison for stealing horses from the Blue River Ranch. Tim Conroy has been carrying a torch for Rory from day one and talks his boss, Hunter Krause, into hiring Rory back at the same ranch he stole the horses from. Hunter makes Tim fully responsible for Rory and his actions which keeps the two men in c...more

It's an angst filled but entertaining look into the lives of two totally opposite men who in reality compliment each other nicely. They've had completely different upbringings and see the world from dissimilar viewpoints. Yet the author did a good job getting them together in a realistic time interval. Not rushed like so often happens, but allowing Rory to work through his problems. It's not easy. It's often painful and is filled with swirling emotions but life isn't simple. It's hard and Ms. Ow...more

3.75 probably.

More likable MC's, but way too much happening. Sometimes things were referenced, but never explored. I felt puzzled. Charlie? Voices? There was more to be explored.

Still, a decent conclusion.

Pretty good western m/m romance about a guy freshly paroled from prison who's given a job as a ranch hand at the same ranch he went to prison for stealing from. But the handsome wrangler supervisor he once shared a kiss with is vouching for him, so he's stuck.

ZAHRA OWENS is a multi-lingual globetrotter who loves big cities, but also has a weak spot for the wide-open spaces that are so rare where she lives.
She likes her men either tough on the outside but with a huge soft center, or strong, silent and damaged. She makes it her personal goal to find them their happy-ever-after, the road there often leading via hospital beds, villas with gorgeous vistas o...more
