I have to admit, the hot cover was the first thing that drew me to the book. And was I glad that the content justified it. In spades.

Genre: Contemporary romance

Alexa squirmed in her seat as the silence in the BMW stretched between them. Her husband-to-be seemed just as uncomfortable, he chose to focus his energy into his MP3 player. She tried not to wince when he settled on Mozart. He actually enjoyed music without words. She almost shuddered again when she though of sharing a residence with him. For. An. Entire. Year.

"Do you have any Black Eye Peas?"

An incredibly fun, light, humorous and sexy read!

Nick needs a wife. His late uncle makes sure of that, too as details are revealed in his will. There is a set timeline for Nick to marry, which will grant him his uncle's wealth, and we're talking millions, upon his death. Trouble is, Nick comes from a broken family with enormous dysfunctional luggage, and even though he's capable of loving women, he dosen't ever see himself falling "in love" with a any woman, much less having a family.

Alexa is N...more

Jennifer Probst took the Marriage of Convenience plot and with her witty dialog, the strong build of sexual tension and finally those hot love scenes and made this a winner.

Nick Ryan doesn't believe in marriage stating the "dream of forever is a fairy tale." I loved watching Alexa break through his self-made barriers and bring this hot-blooded, sexy man to his knees. He has lived a life of not feeling wanted and clearly is a lost, tortured soul...more

i read a few books with the same concept - marriage of convenience because of some crazy dead relative's will . and it isn't really my thing , but because of all the 5 stars , and OH-MY-GOD-WHAT-A-GREAT-BOOK-it-is reviews ... i decided to give it a chance .

this is the kind of story that you pretty much know what gonna happen , they got married , they do not know each other or even like each other but everything gonna change at the end , and the "how"...more

Loved it! “The Marriage Bargain” had all the ingredients for the making of an amazing story: Childhood friends reunited, Marriage of convenience, Love spell gone astray, opposites attract and great chemistry. This was my first book by Jennifer Probst, I came across it by chance on the goodreads website and was I ever glad to have found it. The story was funny and charming, a fresh take on the old “Marriage of convenience” story line, there were no boring m...more

The Marriage Bargain is a romance novel by Jennifer Probst. I was in B&N one day and looking through their "read in store" selections and found this title. I like the occasional romance and decided to give it a try with the one hour read for free that B&N offers for their Nook customers. I instantly fell in love with this story. I hadn't even read for the full hour yet, was only 20 pages in before I decided to purchase it and continue on!

This is the typical romance novel where the motiv...more

I'm into contemporary romance lately, so the hype over this book pulled me in, but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It also wasn't as steamy as the cover would suggest, but it was an easy read to pass the time with and it wasn't as bad as many others I've read, so I've got to go with 2 stars for 'It was ok'.

She gave an unladylike snort. “You want a Stepford wife without the sex. Haven’t you learned anything about women since you were fourteen?”
“I learned plenty. That’s why Uncle Earl had to force me into an institution that favors women in the first place.” She gasped. “Men get plenty out of marriage!”
“Like what?”
“Steady sex and companionship.”
“After six months the headaches start and you bore each other to tears.”
“Someone to grow old with.”
“Men never want to grow old. That’s why t...more

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! It was sweet, funny, fresh, fun and very engaging. A truly sweet romance. I loved everything about it except for the fact....IT WAS TOOO SHORT!!! :( I really hate it when that happens...the best stories are always the short ones..WHY OH WHY!!?? I could have easily read about Nick and Alexa for a long time.....like oh I don’t know 500 or 600 pages more!! I loved the story and the romance. This book totally brought on my girly-girl....and I couldn’t help but swoon and drool......more

Alexa is the kind of daughter who’d do anything to help her parents, even if it meant making a deal with the devil. Not literally – duh, but Nicholas Ryan is no angel by any means. He needs a wife for a year to fulfil the terms of his late, meddling uncle’s will. The bastard tries to mess with him even from the grave! Nick is Alexa’s only option, and she happens to be in desperate need for some cash. Will she be able to handle this blast from...more

The fact that I’m up at 1:14 in the morning writing a review for this book tells you how much I liked this book. I’ve read a lot of the arranged-marriage-then-fall-in-love books, the best of them was Yours for the Taking by Robin Kaye but this book came pretty close to it.

Alexandria McKenzie needs money to pay off her parents mortgage loan and Nicholas Ryan needs a wife for a year so that he can get his inheritance. Maggie, Nicks sister and Alexa’s best friend suggests to Nick that he should mar...more

I might publish I proper review later on. I do want to whip one up quickly. All my emotions still intact, a little scattered, actually.

The Marriage Bargain, is a quick and light read. One which took me by surprise. I expected this book to be the cliche-marriage for convenience turn into love happily ever after. Boy, did I get something different. Nick Ryan was just that perfect imperfect man. Rational, headstrong, and handsome. Alexa was just plain badass.

Never had I read a book where I liked al...more

This was most definitely an enjoyable and fun read. I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times at the banter between Alexa and Nick, the two main characters.

She narrowed her eyes. “I see you’re the same overbearing bully who teased me about my chest size. Some things don’t change.”
He focused his attention on the dip of her dress. “I guess you’re right. Some things remain the same. Others keep expanding.”
Her breath caught at the jab, but she surprised him when she smiled. “And ot

All romance lovers out there, make way for the superbly talented Jennifer Probst who has succeeded in earning herself an auto-buy spot on my already long list of authors whose books I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase. Not only do I immediately purchase Jennifer Probst’s books, but I stop everything I am reading at the moment and plunge into her books with an enthusiasm that tells a story of its own.

This review is from: The Marriage Bargain (Marriage to a Billionaire) (Kindle Edition)
Yes this was a predictable story; but lets face it, it's a contemporary romance novel. It has to have certain elements that are almost rules. You know there has to be some reason for the couple to get together and in this novel the reason was that Nick needed a bride and fast and Alexa needed cash and fast. Nick didn't want a 'wife' wife nor kids or pets; he was no romantic...more

Sooo... I am part of a "what are you reading now?" discussion & saw a couple of people comment on this book. I had never heard of it before, but though I'd give it a try since they said it was a short read & inexpensive on Amazon. I couldn't put it down & enjoyed every bit of it. The book was more of a 4.5 star, but gave it a 5 since I didn't want to sell it short. The only thing I would have changed is making it longer... It was definitely too short.

This book right here is the reason why I'm so willing to give small press and selfpublishing a chance. This book right here is the reason why I so patiently roam Amazon and Goodreads, looking for new and undiscovered authors, why I put up with a lot of really bad books in the hopes they will lead me to something like this.

The Marriage Bargain is a good romance book. The kind that is hard to find these days. Most books that hide under the Romance banner are erotica books in disguise. So finding s...more

I am so glad I bought and read THE MARRIAGE BARGAIN. This is a book that I can easily pick up when I’m in between books and fall in love with the story over and over.

The storyline itself isn’t too unique, but I’m not one to really care if a storyline is common as long as it’s good. Alexa McKenzie is in need of $150,000 to save her family home. She calls upon Mother Earth with a list of qualities for her perfect man, that includes him having $150,000 to spare, and seals the spell.

Erm...How did I not see this book before? It just calls to me! Ahhh! Need to read it very, very soon. :D I need some sexual tension in my life. And this cover is pure sex! F YEAH!

EDIT

Wow! This was actually pretty good. It's not deep like some of my favorite adult romance stories such as How to Kill a Rock Star and Thoughtless but it was sweet, sexy and heart-warming. It really deserved 4 stars from me. You know I don't give those away easily. The only problem I had with it is-the length. I wanted...more

Enthusiastic 3.5 stars...

I planned to give this four stars, because so much of it was fun and entertaining. I am not a contemp romance fan in general. This book hit the spot for me though. I had read a few emotionally intense stories, and needed something lite and funny. This fit perfectly. I guess I was not wowed by the last 20% of the book, so it lost a half star for falling short in the end.

Although I think it could have been better in the end, but 75 % of the book had me made me happy. Yes...more

4.5 Stars!!

"She needed a man. Preferably one with $150,000 to spare."

Smart, independent and vivacious Alexa McKenzie needed a man. Real bad. When her family is in danger of losing their home, Alexa conjures up a spell to bring her a man who held all the qualities she dreamed her soul mate would possess and had very deep pockets. She didn't have to wait very long because long-time best friend, Maggie, walks in and suggests Alexa marry her older brother, Nicholas 'Ni...more

Having never read this author before, I went into The Marriage Bargain with little expectations. I was surprised how easy a read it turned out to be.

My overall impression of the book was a good one, and the blurb does a good job of explaining the story. No real surprises, no real curve balls, and the main characters get from A to B in pretty much the exact way you'd expect them to, but the journey was a good one - quick paced, entertaining, and realistic.

While the idea of a business marriage is...more

“Look at me, Alexa.”
Half drugged, she opened her eyes and gazed at the man she loved with every part of her being, waiting for him to claim her, waiting to take anything he could give.
