Protected is a story written by Cindy M. Hogan. It's the 2nd book in the watched series and is all about Cristy's life and adventures after leaving behind the murder that she witnessed in Washington, D.C. This story takes plalce all over the U.S. Here's her story. Cristy's home is just how she left it. She thought she had escaped all the troubles she had faced in D.C. but what she doesnt know, is that she had been followed home by the terrorists that had commited the murder. About a week before...more

I'm dying to know how in the world this book gets such good reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. I only read this series because it's like a train wreck that I can't avert my eyes from. I keep waiting for the author to redeem herself, or for there to be a clarifying moment for the main character. The writing is horrible-holes in the plot; the author within the same paragraph will say "I finally found peace...I'm going crazy with boredom"-inconsistent-also she misses her family so much sometimes and...more

In Protected, Christy has returned to her boring life after an intense and dangerous adventure in DC. But the monotony doesn't last for long. When playboy Alex show up out of the blue shattering the boring world Christy has returned to, he brings more than his winning smile. The bad guys are back, and they aren't going away easily.

Protected is full of danger, action, and survival. I really enjoyed the suspense level since Christy was constantly looking over her shoulder and having to avoid attac...more

Sequel to Watched, Cindy Hogan out does herself. Again.

Fifteen year-old Christy Hadden hates life back home. At her school trip in
Washington, D.C., she had a glimpse at what it felt like to belong--until the murder. Now in Montana, she slips back into the little nobody she feels she is until Alex--the love of her life--finds her. And so does the danger...

Hogan is extremely creative and a goddess of character creation as she whips up many well-rounded profiles as well as personalities for Christ...more

Christy has returned home to Helena, Montana after her disastrous debate trip to Washington, DC. She had originally thought that kids at her regular school would treat her differently after her trip. They didn't. They still pick on her just as much as they did before her trip, even though Christy feels so much different about herself, and has proven that she is able to make friends. She's had an especially bad day one day, when all of a sudden, she spots Alex after school. He walks down the stai...more

Review: "Protected", was unique and so elegantly written that it did no less than amaze me with the brilliance of this author. In a world where danger is real and there are bad people just waiting to hurt you at every turn, Cindy M. Hogan still manages to weave in the hope that is found in believing in a higher power.

Christie is is a teen like no other. Though sh...more

Ok, in all honesty if the suspense wasn't so great, I wouldn't have kept reading. I get super irritated with weak female leads. I know teenagers are hormonal and have very skewed senses of things, but I really don't like it when they care more about a guy (or two) more than their family. Maybe it's the mommy in me. I really don't like that she keeps putting herself in bad situations with Alex "because he makes her feel good." That's the kind of behavior we're trying very hard to discourage in ou...more

In this book "Protected" By Cindy M. Hogan, Christy is faced with a trial of going into the "witness protection program" and she finds that she must "erase" her self and embrace "Michele", the person she must disguise as and pretend to be. As "Michele", Christy becomes a cheerleader and learns how to be popular. As the book goes on, Christy has to transform into a "motercycle-tattoo-lots of peircings-type-girl" and has to relocate. Over all, this book was a good one because it was fun to see how...more

Protected is the second book in the Watched series. (Read my review for the first book, Watched, here.) I think this was an excellent second book in a series! It picked up right where the first book left off. I have to say that Christy is one of my favorite YA female characters. The reason why, is that she is smart, cute, and most of all is she portrayed as a "real" teen. Even though she is in this horrendous situation, she still is a 16 year old girl and she thinks like one. Sometimes YA female...more

Wow! Fabulous book. I loved it even more than the first. The reason I knew I loved it so much is I couldn't put it down, I went to bed way past my bedtime, and the house cleaning took a bit of a back seat to me reading this. Even when I wasn't reading it, I was itching to get back to it. I loved the whole idea of this book, it made me think about myself if I was put into the witness protection program away from anyone that I cared about and had to completely change who I was, would I still remai...more

This book started a little slow for me, but it was definitely crazy and face-paced. I kept imaging how awful it would be to be in Christy's situation and how well she handled things, especially with her only being 16. To always be on guard; to always be pretending to be someone else; to always be trying to forget...that would be tiresome and difficult to do. Let me back up:

Christy is back home after her...memorable...trip to DC. When her life is endangered again, she is forced to enter into the...more

"the man right behind me gasped and fell, some part of him hitting my leg. I screamed" (pg 330) this thrilling book is 341 of excitement. Protected is by Cindy M Hogan. She wrote this book to her husband Bill. The problem is that Christy is in secret protection program.

Protected was another great story in the Watched series. The book started off with Christy returning to somewhat of normalcy, after the DC trip choas. He returns to her normal school, but different on the inside. Although, she still thought of Alex and Rick regularly but knew that it was over...that was until Alex showed up and swept her right off her feet again...

Alex shows up at Christy school and makes her the envy of the school..he lovingly shows her affection and it feels just like DC felt,...more

Review:

"Protected" by Cindy M Hogan was a good followup from Watched.
There was just a much twist and turn that definitely made this novel
hard to put down until I was finished. It was very exciting to see what
this author had in store for this heroine. From being bullied at school
to the action pack of the terrorists...this is an excellent read.

This is quite the ride. I was going to take my time working my way through this book, but I had to finish it. I really felt for Christy as she enters the witness protection program and leaves behind everyone she knew and loved in order to protect not only herself, but them as wel...more

Not as great as the first, but still interesting. Though Christy gets a little more mature, she still makes a lot of stupid choices. Just when I thought she was turning into a badass she would do something idiotic. Almost like she didn't see the severity of the situation. Something about the way she attaches herself to the males in the story seem to say she lacked a father figure in her life and it kind of bugs me how much she turns to John or Lanny or Jeremy. Its like she has to have a father r...more

Hogan keeps her plot moving forward with suspence and a few twist. While the book does have enough intrigue to have kept me reading it into the late hours of the night, it was the main character's growth that fascinated me.

Christy is going through some pretty difficult experiences, and yet, the author allows her grow, to make mistakes and learn, not just experience an epiphany and then be a new person. Furthermore, Hogan really captures what teens are like, their grumpiness, their energy, their...more

4 1/2 stars. Still annoyed by some of her stupidity - especially in not learning from past experience again and again. But, other than that, I thought this one was fascinating! So interesting to imagine what it must be like for people put in the Witness Protection program, and to think of all the implications of that. I'm sure this is very fictional, but it was so fun to read! Makes me wish that someone who is actually in this situation could write a book about it. But, then their cover would be...more

In the second book of the Watched series Christy is at home and is at her high school where she doesn't have any friends. Alex shows up and kisses her right in front of the Cheerleaders. Then takes her away and to a historical nature park where they have a picnic then they go and crash a party, he drops her off at her house where she notices that there is a very suspicious van parked in front of her home.

Alex then takes her to the park again and this time the bad guys come and kidnap them, but...more

Over the weekend I had some spare time and treated my self to a book. I chose Protected, by Cindy Hogan. She released this book last March on the same day as I released my first book, Promises. (We had our launch party together and she was so helpful, as I was a bumbling newbie). What I can't believe is that I had waited this long to get around to reading her book. I had enjoyed her first book, Watched, and I was rewarded equally, if not more, as I read Protected.

In Cindy's first book, Watched,...more

Thank you to Cindy M. Hogan for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Christy imagined she'd get back to her life at school and be accepted by the 'in' crowd - since she did it in Washington D.C., why not? She couldn't be more wrong.

Although Christy has been forever changed by her ordeal on the field trip - having witnessed an actual murder and been shot at and barely survived - it's hard to change the perception kids at school have of her. Especially, when she can't breathe a wor...more

I read this book really quickly and stayed up WAY too late again to finish. I loved the suspense, but I wish that Christy had a little more self control. For example, when she made a big promise and then couldn't follow through. I have a feeling there is more to the story than what we are getting and I'm excited to see what happens in the next book.

One thing that bothered me is the amount of typos in this book. There were several of those and a couple of times where entire sentences were repeat...more

First, my thanks to the Author for an E-ARC...??? (Is that a word? It is now.) to read. I was excited to see what was in store for Christy once more. It picked us up with the heroine just a few months after her departure from DC back in her hometown of Helena. Things still aren't very peachy there and go from bad to worse when Alex shows up. Soon, she finds herself thrown into Witness Protection and a whole slew of new moral dilemmas to conquer.

The author does an excellent job of keeping your e...more

Christy’s reality upon returning home after DC is far from what she wish it would be, until Alex appears outside her school. Trouble always seems to follow Alex as has once again she has been found by the terrorists who killed the Senator’s aid. Back into protective custody – Christy learns to tune her ‘spidey senses’ and learn to defend herself against anything she may come up against.

A great follow up to Watched. I cannot wait for the third installment!

Lots of action in this book, much like my favorite genre of movies: suspense. At first I was only going to give a 3 star rating because I had such high expectations after reading the first book. Also, it has quite the chic-flick feel to it, which is a slight negative in my opinion, although perfect for a quick read. However, I really appreciate the way Hogan has her main character, Christy, stick to her morals.

Warning - Sand Man won’t visit.
Protected – the perfect follow-up to Watched! I stayed up WAY past my bedtime to read it. I kept thinking, “I’ll get tired soon” … “I’ll shut off my Kindle in a minute”… “Geez, what time is it anyway.” I couldn’t stop reading. My heart was racing so much I couldn’t get sleepy. I think it’s safe to say I really enjoyed Protected. What do you think? J

I liked this book, mainly because there is always something new with Christy. The details are highly descriptive. I like the representation of her position and how Christy act upon what she is told, and when she doesn't, it shows how she deals with her consequences.
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a page turning, thrilling, on the edge of your seat book.

At this point I am anxiously awaiting the next installment in Watched series! As the second book unfolds the plot thickens. I love the twists in this book. I read it in a hurry. It hopped and skipped some time and that was okay too. It was great and addictive reading. I was immersed and satisfied how it all went down. I cannot wait for it's sequel!
