Six years ago strangers broke into Juliette’s house; she was home alone and only thirteen. She kept her eyes closed, praying that if she didn’t see anything, she wouldn’t be killed. No one harmed her. In fact, one of the thieves protected her. Now Juliette’s dreams are haunted by him.

Christian has waited to take her, resisting the urge each night. It always ends badly with...more

Spoilers coming up, but then again, you aren't missing much and I'm sparing you the effort of having to read it yourself. Trust me, go read something else, cause WTF was that???

This has to be the worst thing I've ever read in my entire life, I swear. I'm sorry, I'm sure there are a lot of fans out there, but this book was just fucked up and most of all: Boring. Oh-so-BORING.

My god. The sex wasn't even hot, there was no seduction, nothing. "I took off my clothes. And then he fucked me. And I came...more

Again! An enthusiastic round of applause for the masterful seductress, Kitty Thomas. Her words are wicked and delightful, haunting and erotic. The stories she weaves always leave me in a state of confusion as to why I enjoy these dark tales, but ultimately I find that I need not ask why only when will the next one be released.

Christian is the dark and commanding force behind all that happens in Juliette’s life. THE LAST GIRL is such a complex novella - it contains erotic undertones similar to t...more

There are really no words. As Erin said in her review, what is contained in this book falls under my "hard limits". The way things turned around in the ending was not enough to soften the blow. This was not for me.

To be fair, I didn't read the reviews before buying this so I didn't really know what I was getting into. After reading the reviews, I felt I needed to read it before our Smut Monday Club was going to get their hands on it tomorrow.

Let me say, I cannot recommend this book at all. Be w...more

I can't begin to express how much I enjoy the amazingly dark and complex stories from Kitty Thomas. At times I have even questioned if it is alright for me to enjoy them so much because they can be so dark and disturbing. I find myself coming back to the same answer, even if the story is hard to take, if the characters won't leave me be then the author has done her job!

As much as I was immediately drawn into the story of Christian and Juliette, it scared me at times. I don't scare easily but th...more

Okay, so I had to give myself some time to think about this story before I wrote a review, because parts just didn't sit well with me. I'm a huge fan of dark erotica stories, but certain aspects of Last Girl were too much.

To sum it up quickly, I have two big issues with this story, let's just call them my 'hard limits' for what I can and can not find enticing and sexy! For one, the club scenes. I'm not entirely opposed to stories that have kinky sex scenes in a public fashion, but Juliette bein...more

Adult review for taboo erotic content (kidnapping and non-con). Not spoiler tagging that because it's something you'd want to know about before deciding whether or not to read the book.

The main reason this book is only getting 2 stars from me is because I've read the same subject matter before from this author, but put together in a far more interesting story. If you're looking to branch out into extreme taboo reading, I'd suggest that you skip this book altogether and pick up Comfort Food inste...more

The pain flowers out like a lotus blossom and then transforms into a deep yearning.
He is both the disease and the cure.

Six years after the incident that happened in Juliette’s house, nightmares plaque her every dream of a man whom she'd touch, now the obsession of the man adheres to claiming her, and the time was due.
as he said:
“Six years,” he says quietly. With my eyes shut, the only thing I can process is his voice as it drops over me like a blanket. “It’s not a lot of time to a vampire, b

Well, I'm becoming a Kitty Thomas's huge fan!!!

This is a vampire dark erotica book with not so light BDSM scenes, and there are very disturbing ones, specially with knife play. It isn't for everyone, but really I loved it!!!

This book is not very long, but worth every page!

I want more!!!!!

Okay. I don’t know why I read this. I saw it and thought: “it’s like Twilight / Fifty Shades of Grey? MUST READ FOR LOLS.”

This was a mistake. A grave mistake.

So it was pretty obvious what was going to happen from the get go...

Christian is a vampire and he’s decided that Juliette is the girl for him, even if she’s only thirteen when he first meets her. “That’s okay,” he thinks. “I shall wait until she’s nineteen because then it'll be okay.”

And then all hell breaks loose. The language is appallin...more

Now how can I pass up a warning like this???

Warning: This book is meant for a mature audience and contains master/slave, group sexual activity, sadomasochism, girl-on-girl, oral and anal play, exhibitionism, blood play, edge play, as well as one other thing I’m not warning you about because it would be a spoiler... but it’s not a big taboo.

Can I just say this book is very mature.
It took me completely by surprise and the author had me eating out of her hand by the end.
Wow. Just WOW. I don't know what happened.
One minuet I was reading about a teen in college helping out her mom. The next she had been abducted by a very sexy and intimidating god of a vampire who was using her for sex and for a bite every now and then.
So well written and the ending was everything one could hope for.
I loved it absoloutley loved it.

Kitty Thomas' books are always so psychologically thrilling and disturbing, and after reading other readers' reviews, I feel so disturbed. But can you fault me for wanting to read The Last Girl? Hmm, a girl do need her secret, guilty pleasures once in awhile. :P

Wow, read it in one sitting. It reminded me alot in some parts of Comfort Food. Is that good or bad? Not sure yet.Not sure about the ending either...

Well, I think its mostly good =)
It is a paranornal Novel, that is in some ways very similar to Comfort Food. And in others, not.

This was a great lot of fun to read! Full review to come May 10, if I don't forget to post it here, lol.

Ok, so, as you guys might have noticed, I'm a really big fan of power play reads. Well, I mean, not just reads but we're talking books here, lol. So when the opportunity presents itself for me to read some power play, I'm all in. Go into reading this review, or the short novel itself with the clear notion this is something I've read something like mountains on, and what I consider light may be...more

Ok, where to begin...

Read for Dark Mind Book Tours, i didn't know what to expect with The Last Girl. I hadn't read any of Kitty's books before, but noticed a lot of comments about her work being very dark and more than capable of messing with your mind. Now that I've read The Last Girl, I completely agree. I have never been out of my comfort zone to this extent before, yet I remained utterly entranced and unable to stop reading. It floored me.

The story: Home alone, thirteen year old Juliette e...more

Honestly I don't know how to rate this book.

Like all KT's it's definitely disturbing, but this book had a few funny moments for me.

I can't stop laughing because vampire blood cure/knits back one's hymen so she's a virgin all over again LOL LOL LOL I don't know why but I find this damn ridiculous.
xD

and the moment where Christian went all crazy stucked in his own world and cutting up Juliette.... I definitely feel wrong.... it's just too disturbing for me.

I've never read a Kitty Thomas book before so I wasn't sure if I would like her or not but I think her books often have the best covers. I downloaded Tender Mercies a few months ago but haven't read it yet. The description of the book made me feel uncomfortable yet I'm still compelled to read it all the same.

I hadn't realized that this book was basically a novella and I felt like there were parts that just translated to "blah, blah, blah". A lot of the things that go on in Juliette's inner dialo...more

I have been looking forward to reading The Last Girl it has had lots of good reviews and after reading Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas, which although was disturbing I really enjoyed, I thought I knew what to expect. But I was wrong. I didn't like this.

This book and Comfort Food are essentially the same story only this has a paranormal twist. Normal girl gets kidnapped, her kidnapper abuses her in all ways possible but the girl submits and starts to like and crave it. However, where in Comfort Food...more

I really like Kitty Thomas, she's an edgy writer who pushes buttons. I just finished reading this book and I was left feeling ... nothing. The concept was good, the writing was good, it really had all the qualities of what should have been a good book. But it just lacked ... something. I think it was that I just couldn't connect to Juliette, her narration lacked emotion. It was just her telling you what happened, even when she was crying I felt disconnected, like I was watching it happen from a...more

Wow, I had no idea what to expect when I picked up this book. I saw all the warnings for it and knew I had to read it. I'm curious by nature and I just had to know what kind of fuckery was in this book. Now I know, and I loved it!! This is definitely not for everyone. If you like very controlling, powerful, scary-but-sexy men in your books and don't mind sexual situations that you probably wouldn't go for in real life, but don't mind reading about, then this might be for you. I read the 1 star reviews before I bought this book.
No idea why I actually bought it in the end, the 1 star reviews are really not in favor for this book.

But I finished it in one read and the only thing I can complain about is:
Why is it sooo short?

I am so free to quote from Kim's review:
The sex wasn't even hot, there was no seduction, nothing. "I took off my clothes. And then he fucked me. And I came. And then he came. And he drank my blood. And then I drank his blood. And then I turn into a vir

Somewhere in the mist of the romance associated with vampires and their undying love, we choose to forget that everything about them is shaped to be the most deadly of predators. Everything about them, their smell, their beauty, their charm, their speed, their strength, the seductiveness is meant to draw you in for an easy kill. Because let's face it, humans would be easy prey. If they existed there would be a never-ending suicidal train of humans longing to be Vlad's Elisabata. Male and female....more

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Kitty Thomas from my Goodreads friends, so when I came across this book, the beautiful cover and the high ratings finally convinced me to give her a go.

So I read it. And the problem is…I’m really kind of stuck for words. This is not usually the kind of book I read and I was quite shocked with the characters, their thoughts, and their actions.

Simply put…I thought it was kind of fucked up.

I guess I’m just not cut out for dominant/submissive relationships or...more

“It will just happen someday. I won’t be able to help it. At some point I will lose control; it’s what I am. I’m not a comforting fairy-tale. There is no such thing as a noble or good vampire. I am a predator. You are my prey. When I am finished playing with you, I will kill you. But it will probably be years; it usually is. You have nothing to fear for the foreseeable future. Except pain.”

I have to say this book was a shock to read, never have I been more torn about the male lead in a book or the nature of the relationship. I have read erotica before so the acts involved were not so much of a shock but the situation itself for Juliette to be torn away from her family but so accepting of her situation and the relationship she has with Christian was difficult to grasp. One moment your completely horrified by what Christains does to Juliette but then there are small instances where...more

The Last Girl- Kitty Thomas

I had to read the newest release by Kitty Thomas. The psychological nature of her stories always flip a switch inside my mind and captivate me. I was engaged and engrossed from page one. I picked this without reading the synopsis and was excited to read that it was paranormal. The paranormal genre is one of my favorite, combining that with Kitty Thomas' usual psychological elements, it was the perfect read for me. I read this story from start to finish in one sitting...more

This one cut deep. I'll read it again once I stop having nightmares!

I am a HUGE fan of Kitty Thomas, so any book of hers goes on my inner TBR list automatically (note: I am so behind on listing my GR read and TBR it's not funny). That said, the cover alone hooked me. I couldn't get it out of my head. Which was torture for awhile, because I had to wait for the book!

For the book itself . . . let's just say I was not disappointed. This isn't a light read, this isn't a book you'll easily forget. I...more

Back into the Vampire world,
thought it would take me awhile but i'm really glad i did with this book.

Tiny complaint that i'm sure a lot of people will notice beginning to read this--It's hard to be original with all the vampire fiction that has been shoved in our faces so although i cringed a tiny bit toward the use/blend of familiarities from other vampire fiction And bdsm, it was still original in many aspects and plus you can't ignore KT's lyrical voice...so worth it.

with that said....

Kitty Thomas writes dark literary erotica that explores power dynamics and sexuality. This work is fiction and meant for an adult audience. The author does not endorse or condone any of the behavior carried out by characters in her stories.

Her work is not “erotic romance”. Often on some level it is about love and/or obsession. Often the couple in some way ends up “together”, but the work should no...more
