First of all let me say I was really excited to start this book. The way things ended with Amaranth made me really want to dig farther into this story and find out what else is in store for Camille and Gavin. Some of the characters that I was very interested in in Book 1 were definitely developed more in this book, and I was able to have a greater insight into the development of their individual stories, and how they came to join together in their quest.

I have so much to say about The Gates, but I am going to keep it rather brief so that I don’t spoil anything for those of you that have been waiting to read it.

Now folks I know that some of you may have read my mini-review back in February when I finished the book. But I also know that there will be those that didn't. So if you are one of the ones that did, please bear with me if I seem to be going over the same things as I did back then.

So looks like I didn't have to wait until April! Wow I must say that was even better than the first. I do not want to give anything away considering it doesn't come out until April, but by golly that was good. There is a bunch of action and a BUNCH of love.
Gavin and Camille never seize to amaze me. Their relationship is true and honest. In The Gates, their love will get tested. And oh it made me mad but that's all I'll give away!

This book begins where the first book ended, picking up in a big way. In my opinion, The Gates is better than the first book. Camille and Gavin’s love is tested and there are some steamier scenes. Wade developed every character; I really love that she did this because she created such great characters. The plot twists and turns were predictable at times, but truly surprised me at others. Ok, I really enjoyed this book much more than the first. For some reason I felt a better connection with the characters and at times could really feel their emotions. We are also given some great scenes in which I really felt I was there. There were a few times that I laughed out loud and even had tears in my eyes at other times.

Once again I was amazed. Rachael Wade has created another amazing read.I absoultely loved the first book in this series and couldn't wait to read this one. Camille amazed me again with her strength and determination. She is still an awesome character and with a fierce protectiveness for those she loves. Over all I thought this was a good book with a creative, original plot line and back story. It was a nice quick read.
The relationship between Gavin and Camille is very well established and the reader is able to see with clarity, how they feel for one another. I might have enjoyed seeing a bit further into Gabe and Audrey's relationship as well.
The action scenes and the villain Samira deliver and the little twist with her in the end is quite nice and not expected.

I have become a fan of this author. I read Amaranth (Book 1) at the beginning of this year and was hooked. I just finished The Gate (Book 2) and I must say my commute the last few days have been pleasant because of it.

THE GATES picks up where book one, AMARANTH leaves off and goes on to completely blow book one away in style, story and character development! Gavin and Camille are back and looking good! Camille is no longer a wishy-washy victim type and has really stepped up to the plate as a gutsy character! Gavin is still hot, but has become a true hero. As you may know, I absolutely LOVED. Rachael Wade has a way of pulling you into a story and making you feel like you're along for the ride.
Same thing goes for The Gates. We hop back into the story where we left off and it's non-stop from there. Camille and Gavin's romance heats up and gets tested in ways you wouldn't even think of. We find out more about the characters that we were left wondering about in Amaranth....more

What a great follow up to Amaranth! Wade jumps right into the action and fills us in on enough to bring us back into her world without bogging down her fast paced storyline.

i just finished this book and i must say i enjoyed it alot. i love the main characters. this is definitely not your typical vamp book. cant wait for the third.

The second book was just as great as the first book. I really like the way that this author keeps the plot from getting boring and generic. The characters were fully developed. It was east for me to read and enjoy. I liked the mixture of voodoo and vampires. It was nice to see a twist on the vampire world. One twist was the vampires being able turn back into humans.
