OMG I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! This book had everything that you are looking for in a story that will keep you glued to the pages: suspense, mystery, action, emotional content that will have your heart aching and a gorgeous, hunky hero that will have you wishing you were the one getting his special treatment.
Oh where to begin! Lets start in the beginning with X109GI or I should say Joe because despite what the military wants people to believe, and for Joe and his comrades to believe abo...more

Sexy sci-fi is my crack. I am irrationally obsessed with finding more of it and when I come across the good stuff I end up craving it even worse than I was before. That's the case here. I don't know what sort of magic ore dust Eve Langlais sprinkles on her characters but I like it!
Things I liked so much it's ridiculous: Joe. I'm a sucker for stories that start out with the big, strong hero being held prisoner (not broken by his imprisonment, mind you, but having an awesome physical and mental pr...more

Man, this book has qualities I wish Cinder had. Not that Cinder was bad, I just found it difficult to fully understand what it meant to be cyborg just from Cinder's (likely abnormal) experiences. Not so here. You see I'm fairly new to the concept so I needed it spelled out for me. I get it now. The idea of cyborgs is an intriguing one with many areas to debate and explore. The history and creation of Langlais's half man, half machines struggling to recover their human sides were interesting. I'm...more
Enjoyable book - loved the cyborg/sci-fi element.
Chloe is a lab assistant that's been hired to get samples from a captured cyborg. The cyborgs became aware and the military wanted them destroyed. They rebelled and now they finally have one in their evil clutches (AH-AHHH-AHH sinister laugh). Joe (a name he chose) is attracted to Chloe. He hasn't been around human women and he likes what he sees and feels. When he escapes, he takes her with him and finds out all kinds of horrible stuff. I love t...more

C791 is Eve Langlais’s newest series dealing with what it means to be human. This novella is about cyborgs. Machines that were once human but now follow the commands of humans; commands to kill, to steal and finally, to die. One cyborg is self-aware though. An electrical pulse sent his computer into shock and now he can choose to obey or not. When an order goes through to kill all cyborgs due to a bug, Joe (as he now refers to himself) saves his cyborg brothers and inadvertently causes a revolut...more
I wouldn't really want to be abducted, but just in case it happens, these are the options I would chose:
(A) Sexy shifter who senses I am his mate and uses everything in his sexual repertoire to convince me I am his soul mate
(B) Gorgeous Alien who needs me to help repopulate his planet as women as scarce and we are genetically compatible. I am not a fussy girl so his skin can be blue, green, purple etc, but there can be no puss nodules or anything, but I will allow a double penis, I am generous t...more

Cyborgs? Machine or human? How about actually both? In C791, Eve Langlais weaves a tale of human/cyborgs that used to be the dregs of society who were changed into mindless killing machines for the military. But a chance encounter with some energy field changes the mindless cyborgs into thinking humanistic machines.

Quick Review: This was a smexy one night read that I pretty much devoured. It hit the spot for my scifi romance craving. I haven't read Eve Langlais before but I will be again (F814 is already on my kindle). The story was really well paced and interesting. I really liked the Cyborgs being the "good" guys and learning how they got free from their creator. I think as the series goes on we will learn more about t...more

I really liked the story although as with most of her writings, it is thinly sketched. I wish EL would write longer, more deeply layered novels because she can construct such enjoyable characters and lanscapes, a reader wants to immerse themselves in fully. The Langlais world of Cyborgs was fascinating but over too soon.

That book caught my eye, when I was looking for some sci-fi and romance and I totally expected something different than it turned out to be and I don't mean that in a bad way.
The book started a bit slow for me, because I don't really like pages and pages of introductions and explanations of the setting the story is placed, but after the proloque that changed I got what I prefer, the explainations within the story. Still I had a bit trouble getting into that and it had nothing to do with the "Ter...more

I had never read a romance involving a cyborg before and I was eager to satisfy my curiosity. This was a great read and hooked me from the very beginning.
The Prologue explains how the cyborgs achieve their freedom, from being treated as mindless human slaves for the military to use, just before the military decides to mass kill them all.
The first chapter is much later and opens the scene in an underground military facility where a female lab technician named Chloe is called upon to obtain sample...more

This was my first encounter with a cy-borg type book and I must say I loved it and it will most certainly not be my last! Joe, our main cy-borg in this fast-paced short, was literally sex on a stick. He didn't know it, but every other female around him did. We start out with a little glimpse into how Joe came into being. We get to know him before he was freed from the military's command and what it was like for him before he became his own master. The cy-borgs were literally slaves and created f...more
Captured cyborg X109GI is held under more than just lock and key in an underground military facility, Chloe has heard all the news and rumors of the cyborg revolt and their exploits to kill and rape and pillage all over space - as hired technician to collect samples from the cyborg she can't but help feel in danger despite all the security details. But meeting the cyborg isn't as terrifying as she thought more exciting, with his taunting and innuendo, and as the meetings increase she begins to f...more

This is an Erotic Sci-fi Romance! I say this because its not for the faint of heart! I have read some of Mrs. Langais's previous works and know what to expect. When I heard that she was writing a new series about Cyborgs I was immediately interested and excited!!
It was a great story, I liked it a lot. The characters are great, they are well written and defined but I wasn't blown away by they connection the characters had. I mean it was there but this story (to me) felt like there wa...more

This story had pretty good potential. I love sci fi romance and cyborg stories are some of my favorites of this genre. However, I felt that the world building here lacked something. Also there were too many sex scenes and not enough story. The book was really good when the action was going on. There were just large parts where the author said words to the effect: 'they spent long hours talking and she taught him stuff to help him pass as human.' I would rather have read those scenes instead of t...more
AWESOME story! Loved that ending! Gives it the possibility of a couple more stories for this series :) I don't think I could get tired of reading about these guys .. especially Seth :)
Fun story! The beginning gets a little complicated with Cyborg getting the command to destroy ALL Cyborgs. At first X109GI couldn't comprehend why .. but being a Cyborg, he knew he shouldn't have to understand.
Cyborgs were machines, Robots. Tools for human use. They might have started as flawed or damaged humans,...more
Chloe has taken an assignment that promises a large payout, but it also comes with the risk of death. The military has captured one of the rebel cyborgs. They want to study him. The military is looking for a more efficient method of destroying what they once controlled as their super soldiers. Chloe just wants the pay. She is desperate. The moment she enters his cage she is intrigued by him. He is nothing like the rumors she has heard of the cyborgs.

Reading Challenges: Why Buy the Cow?
My Thoughts: Science fiction romances usually don’t hit the right spot for me, but C791 did. I enjoyed it a lot. What I liked the best was the world that Langlais built. I thought she did a good job explaining how the cyborgs were seen as not human even though they used to be people. She also does a good job of showing how Joe and the other cyborgs don’t feel human since the technology implanted...more

My Thoughts:
From the beginning, this book had me intrigued, starting with the scene of how cyborgs gained their freedom. I found Chloe's initial interaction with Joe to be very accurate, considering her knowledge of cyborgs in general and how menacing they have been portrayed to be by the government and the military that she currently works for. She had the right amount of fear but his responses to her had an unintended c...more

I actually abandoned this book a few months ago because I couldn't get past the awful info dumps in the Prologue (check out The "As you know, Bob ..." Info Dump section for an example of what I mean).
I decided to give it another go yesterday and I think I'm glad I did. I was still a little annoyed with the unecessary explanations - everything was spelled out and I was getting impatient with reading what I already surmised the sentence or two before - but this improved once past the first couple...more

I truly enjoyed this book. Joe and Chloe how cute there were. Even though I was a little confuse in the beginning, because I felt I was reading a manual of some kind. Then finally it started to get better when each chapter pass. Joe knew he wanted Chloe the moment he saw her. But dayum, the war between Cyborgs and the human. That general I would do the same way that Chloe did to him. Oh Seth, he was so cute and funny; love the part of the Wizard of OZ re-enactment how funny was that. Solace was...more
Cyborgs gain sentience over the programming and decide to live a life of their own choosing.
As always, Ms. Langlais has a terrific concept and tells a great story. So why three vs four stars? Me. The scifi fan in me loooved this concept and wanted more story. Much more story. The short length favored the sex versus the adventure/action. I wanted to see the battle of the prologue (the cyborgs gaining their freedom). I wanted more scifi with sex instead sex with scifi elements. Basically, I just...more

*Sigh* Where is my cyborg?
I absolutely adored this story. I've been in a bit of a book slump again lately. I've read a few that I liked, but not LOVED. Well, C791 gave me just what I was looking for; A gorgeous misunderstood guy, and a heroine who deserves love after having a hard life. Usually in erotic romance you don't get much story, but I was delighted to find the characters and setting well developed in this one. Eve Langlais is well known for her ability to write hot love scenes and did...more

3.5 stars - Cyborg smexy times!
Take a moment and admire that book cover. Mmmmm…. I’ve got to hand it to Eve Langlais. She takes a cyborg man (and here I was picturing Data from Star Trek) and makes him into a sex machine. Cyborg sex! Can you imagine? He can keep going and going…..

I hope this will be a new series. It was really good!
Well, a new series is born and I can't wait for more installments. I have to say I liked this book and usually I rave about Eve's writing but this time I wasn't wow'ed. Don't get me wrong, its a great book, the characters are well defined, the world this is crafted in is well developed. Its just a different path from most of her other books. Definitely more serious, and the heroine is softer. If you like the Laurann Dohner cyborg series then this is right up your alley. I'm looking forward to se...more
Well well well, this book is definitely something else. I’ve been trying to think if I have ever read a cyborg romance – I can’t say I have. At first I was hesitant about this book. I mean, sure, its Eve Langlais and she is an authorical (new word I’m inventing) genius, but cyborgs? Hot steamy love? I wasn’t buying it. And what do I think now? Bought!!! I loved it!!

This was a very interesting take on cyborgs. I was somewhat surprised to see this particular author writing sci-fi, but she writes it just as wonderfully as she does paranormal.
What I like most about this author is that she actually takes the time to describe feelings and to make you understand why a character acts the way they do. I tend to dislike heroines when the authors have them treat their heroes like trash, but when it happens in a Eve Langlais novel I sympathize with them.

Eve has done it again and come out with another awesome story. I wouldn't say it was my favorite of all of her books I've read but definitely an awesome read.
Joe is a cyborg who has been captured by the military on Earth. His only thoughts are for survival until he meets his new nurse Chloe who is absolutely terrified of his kind because of stories she's been told but at this point in her life she's abused, and lonely and the money she can make getting samples from Joe would help set her free....more
