This book was just okay. I really enjoyed all of the archaeology parts in it, however, I wasn't such a fan of the fantastical parts. If I'm going to read a fantasy book, I prefer witches, vampires, demons and the like. This story just somehow decided to add one small part of fantasy into it which I thought really took away from the plot. It was kind of like watching Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull where the whole time it could be believable, and then they throw in aliens. What a disastrous e...more

While I liked hearing about ancient artifacts, archeology and the ins-and-outs of Italy's system of finding and working with artifacts, I found this book had flat characters and little suspense. The characters had no depth, and I did not care at all about what happened to them, and found myself confused as to why they were developing relationships with each other when no one in the book appeared to possess deep emotions. This one was a fast-pace, quick and easy read, in fact, I read it in one sitting on a Sunday at home. This was a fun take on a supernatural curse that pops up on our hero in present day Italy, flinging him on course to solve an Etruscan murder-mystery 2,400 years in the past.

Witty, clever, fun, fast, utterly absorbing and a great afternoon's read. I highly recommend Manfredi.

A book that stops you doing anything else, loved the mood and the characters and learnt a little history as well.

I liked this book a lot. Fast paced. Changes from modern day to the
Medieval times. Ending unexpected.

Full of archeology, Italy, a good story what more do I need?

An enjoyable easy read. But a little too predictable towards the end. One of Manfredi's worst books. Big still a massive fan of his. His techniques: even in this book, are clearly the work of an exprienced and talented author.
