Who needs enemies when you have friends like Viscount Ludovic "Devil" DeVere.
While Devere means well, he has a knack for getting everyone into some sort of trouble while enjoying the ride!
Victoria Vane pens another delightful georgian and not to mention sexy romp with A Wild Night's Bride. When Devere wants to drag his best friend Ned back into the land of the living and he knows just the lady to get the job done- Phoebe Alice Scott.
His gaze slid with dread to the engraved scroll beneath. ‘Di...more

I can't rate this because I helped edit it. But, if I was reading it as a reviewer, I would give it a five. Why?
Humor: I bout fell off my stool the first time I read it. Funny!!!
Sex: At one point, I had to turn the ceiling fan on. Yes, I did.
Romance: It's there. Ned says some words that melt me where I sit. Beautiful stuff.
So it has it all...and then some.

A Wilds Night’s Bride by Victoria Vane, is a very wild night indeed, I really had fun with this book.
The Players:
Ned: is a widower who loved his wife after 3 years of mourning, he finds himself attracted to of all things an actress, in need of a protector. Whom he happens to meets at an Otahetian Feast of Venus, aka orgy, both Ned and Phoebe are out of place, but Devere thinks a night in the exclusive brothel is just what his friend Ned needs.

Delightfully sexy, witty and fun. This book had me grinning from ear to ear, with great storyline and characters, that you can't help but love.
Sir Edward Chambers, or Ned as he is known by his friends. A gentleman, who likes the simple things in life.
Not every man is a voluptuary like you, DeVere. I happen to enjoy quiet country living and rustic pursuits-hunting, fishing, tending my estate. Simple taste does not equate to a deficiency in or of life. One man's potion is, indeed, another man's p...more

ONE OF MY FAVORITE SCENES:
DeVere, on the other hand, evinced no such qualms. He had already loosened his cravat and was stripping off his coat.
"As I said earlier, there is no need," Phoebe insisted. "A couple of buttons and a raised petticoat are all the business requires."
"How delightfully unromantic you are, my dear!" He chuckled. "But while most men would be charmed to comply with your simple wishes, I have quite another game in mind. One that most...more

3.5 stars for this fun and sexy romp! I will probably read more of this series, when I'm in the mood. AWNB is a novella. Vane writes well, with flowing dialogue and some witty phrases. The story included a good deal of explicit sex, but I couldn't believe in the insta-luv, so Vane lost a point there -- not for the insta-luv itself, but for not making it real to me. My emotions were not sufficiently engaged; I did not heave a hugely satisfied sigh when Ned and Phoebe got their HEA -- but this mus...more
I really enjoyed this book and for a short story the plot was great.
Ned is a serious kind of guy who lost his wife three years before. He has come to London to secure lodging for his daughters upcoming season in the city. Lord DeVere, who is a wild no holds barred kind of character, and always out for a good time, insists Ned stay with him and come back to "the land of the living". At Ned's reluctance, he joins Lord DeVere in a night of debauchery but finds his heart just isn't into it. Then he...more

What a great start to a promising series of short, sexy, and hilarious historical romances! I am always amazed when an author can cram so much story into so few pages. (Only 105?!)
Victoria Vane weaves a fascinating storyline that is so deliciously absurd, it made me laugh and smile despite the ridiculousness of it all! Many of my GR friends recommended it, and I am so glad for it.

I have to admit, I seem to be in a bit of a Historical Romance rut right now. (It happens sometimes… especially when you devour 35 of them in eight months.) So, it was with great surprise that A Wild Night’s Bride managed to put the fun back in Historical Romance and a smile on my face. It is chock full of delightful hijinks and filled to the brim with characters that are behaving very badly. In a very good way, of course.

Lots of fun!
Victoria Vane must have lived a previous life in Georgian England. She gets the setting, the people, and the clothes just right. Most of all, though, she has the dialogue down to a tee. These people sound like they've stepped out of a novel actually written in the late 18th century.
Viscount Ludovic DeVere, the "Devil," is determined to pull his old friend Sir Edward Chambers out of the dumps. Ned has been mourning his late wife for years, but now Ned has come to London to prepare f...more

I liked this novella better when I realized at the end some of the crazy things that happened here were based in actual historical facts! The problem were all the caricaturish characters and the insta-love plot. I understand that the latter will move the plot forward in the next book but why oh why do authors do this? If you're going to have two characters confessing their undying love after knowing each other for less than 24 hrs., I would hope that at least some of that time was spent talking!...more
I love the Georgian era, so after seeing recommendations for this series, I was eager to try it. It started out promisingly enough, and the premise seemed interesting. But then I got half way through and realized that there was no way the book was long enough to have any significant development. And indeed, this was the case. The entire book takes place within two days, with the hero and heroine knowing each other for less than twelve hours, hardly any of it spent speaking, before the "I love yo...more
This is the first ‘real’ book of the series; taking place a number of years after the prequel when Ned, Sin, and Vic were still in school. Ned has come to London after nearly 20 years of living in the country. His wife of many years has died, and he must make plans for his daughter Vesta to have a ‘season’ and look for a husband. Ned meets up with the still irreverent Ludovic DeVere; who immediately introduces him to a night of debauchery. Ned meets Phoebe, an actress; and an often hilarious rom...more

A Wild Night's Bride is a sassy Georgian romp that was a lusty adventure from beginning to end. It' a story that's meant to be over the top and can't be taken to seriously or the enjoyment is lost. I love these style stories and settled in for a fun read in which I wasn't disappointed when I finished the last page.

“A little drink goes a long way” would be an understatement where Sir Edward “Ned” Chambers is concerned. On the plus side he met and became VERY acquainted with the lovely and adventurous Kitty Willis, who he later learns is actually named Phoebe. On the down side he woke up in the King’s bed at St. James Place with only a fuzzy memory of how he came to be there – The Hangover meets 18th century England and it’s a wild ride.

Phoebe was determined to make it as an actress and bury the secrets of her past far behind her. An opportunity presents itself when the lead actresses suddenly come up missing. Phoebe knows all the parts by heart and tries to land one of the roles herself. She manages to convince him that she is perfect for the lead part but is turned away and offered a smaller part. There is a price to being made into a star and it requires the assistance of a rich provider. Can Phoebe go through with the steps...more
I never ever expected to give a 5 star rating to a book which should probably only be sold to adults over 21, but A Wild Night's Bride is well-written, fast paced, funny, and yes, sensuous. I received an advance copy of this novella, read it on vacation, and I really couldn't put it down. Vane's characters are well-drawn--she weaves their backstory into the plot so that the reader understands what makes them tick. Set in Georgian England, the naughty bon ton is vividly described. From the start, I knew I was going to love this read for the language alone. Vane utilizes words that encapsulate the era of the story in such a humourous and promising way that I actually had to pull out the dictionary a couple of times. But isn't this part of all the fun in reading historical romance? Learning all those newly discovered phrases while at the same time enjoying that sense of coming home when a historical character or setting is intoduced can be quite thrilling in itself. A lover of history and deeply romantic stories, Victoria Vane combines these elements to craft romantic historical novels and novellas for a mature reading audience. “DeVere smiled. "A mistress is a fine thing, Ned, but a married mistress with a compacent husband is the very best bargain. They cost far less tokeep, make fewer demands, and should any inconvenient package arrive, it may easily be presented to the cuckold, an altogether neat arrangement.”
