The stern and no-nonsense, Michael Langdon, wants nothing more than a quiet, peaceful life. He wasn't getting any of that, he realized, as soon as he brought home a contradicting, galling wife. Ally is maddening…and tempting, all in one small, luscious package. Perhaps his marriage isn't so disagreeable after all.

Loved it. Ally is so feisty and Michael so ogre-ish, you KNOW they're going to end up together. It's a great historical romance with a modern twist and everyone can relate. Terry gave great depth to her characters, even to Victor, the whiny brat. If you like independent heroines and troubled, brooding, yet fundamentally kind men, this is a worthy read. I recommend it warmly.

Who would have thought the insufferable Michael Langdon, an authoritarian, pompous bully could be tamed by an innocent orphan maid? Instead of love at first sight, it was disgust, loathing and mutual distrust. Michael Langdon was determined that Ally Overton not get her clutches on his foppish younger brother. After all, a woman of such low estate should not make a fool out of his senseless brother. Therefore, in Michael's highly logical mind, it would only make sense to keep Ally away from his ...more
I liked this one, initially the idea seemed preposterous but then it grew on me. I liked the angst between the two lead characters.
2.5 stars. Several unfortunate &/or incorrect word choices, unlikely plot, better towards the end.

The Notorious Proposal is an enchanting romance novel that will have you smiling, laughing, and sheading a few tears, so have the tissues ready. The plot takes place in England in 1812 and Ms. Long’s description of the time period is amazing. I enjoy when an author lays out the details to help us connect with a time period that we are not able to visit.Read More...
