Higher Ground (Travelers #3)
by
Becky Black (Goodreads Author)
Zach is impatient and likes to hurry. Adam likes to take it slow and to tease. But, they'd have worked it all out — if only the end of the world hadn't gotten in the way.
Zach Benesh is sure his prediction is right - the island colony of Zahara is about to sink into the ocean. Adam Gray isn't as certain, but he's happy to follow the intense, brilliant geophysicist into the...more

Enjoyable sci fi romance with two engaging characters placed in peril and left to man their way out of it! Just the kind of thing I like.
Zach, a brilliant socially inept workaholic, falls for the far more laid back Adam, who is equally bright in his own way but who gets by on doing 'enough' and ready charm. Both are ready and willing to take their relationship beyond fondling but then Zach finds out something that's just so damn scary it has to be seen to first. I really enjoyed the way the dif...more

Higher Ground is an interesting combination of disaster movie and mild-mannered m/m romance. It's certainly an original premise for this genre.
Dr Zach Benesh, a geophysicist on the terraformed colony of Zahara, is shocked when his earthquake studies suggest the imminent collapse of their island home. His fledgling romance with botanist Adam Gray, is sidelined by the need to persuade the colonists to move to higher ground. The story covers Zach's and Adam's initial meetings, the resistance of Za...more

This is my favourite of Becky Black's books so far!
I really like Adam. Really like him. Damn shame he's gay! There really is a sense of opposites attract with this couple. Laid back charmer Adam vs. impatient Zach.
Zach and Adam dream of a future together, but do they have one if they don't get rescued? I just loved the concept of the race against time, and everything to lose, including lives.
There's a good level of humour, conflict and tension in this book, plus m/m sex - of course!

A longtime science fiction fan, Becky thinks there are few story ideas that can’t be improved by the addition of the words “in space.” If the story also includes two gorgeous men unable to keep their hands off each other then so much the better. She’d happily go into space herself, but being English, would insist on there being a reliable supply of tea available.
