It's not often when a book can make you laugh out loud, while simultaneously tearing your heart from the center of your chest. "Cul de Sac" does just that. The protagonists here are midwestern suburbanites, on the verge of a collective nervous breakdown, but for reasons of varying circumstance and character flaws. You'll watch them fall. You'll see them rise. Contemporary American lit has a new and exciting voice in Scott Wrobel. Can't praise this one high enough. Seven stars out of five. Maybe ...more

Cul de Sac is comprised of a series linked short stories that follow a group of men who live in the same cul de sac in a midwestern suburb. These men, though varied in education and personality, all struggle with the ability to truly express their feelings. Recommends it for: Men who enjoy literary fiction
Bottom line: Great read for those looking for realistic characters, warts and all.

Scott Wrobel's debut is a series of short stories about men linked by a common thread: not just the fact they live in the same cul de sac, but also their struggles with depression and unfortunate life events.

These stories are character-driven and show the sometimes harsh realities that men commonly deal with. Also, this is definitely a book for adults--it concerns adults in adult situations.

Umm. very unconventional. Based in MN!(the good part of the book), but written for men, the women in the book arn't portrayed well, but neither are the men. It is written in a style of crude reality. I would have never read this ever, but I had to for my Lit class. It was OK, if you wan't an interesting/funny/gross/anyother adjective you want to use, this is your book.
