I loved creating the characters in this series. I wanted them to be flawed and down to earth, with adversity and heartache in their past. Of course, my main focus is romance and the HEA waiting for each of them after overcoming whatever I could dream up. I also wanted to make their journey funny at times.

Updated for Audio, Rating a 4.5. Wendy Rich Stetson did a great job with this audio, her narration added to the overall pleasure of the story. In the interest of disclosure I received this free audio for an honest review.

Can I just say that I'm glad Verna Clay finally has a narrator worthy of her talent.

The ending was my favorite part of this romance! What writer wouldn't wish to have their words played out in real life? Beautiful.

This was exactly the kind of story I was in the mood for! Hot sexy cowboy... romance... lots of tingles.

Sarah Carter, a popular romance author writing under the pen name Mims Murphy, is still hurting from her divorce from her philandering ex-husband. Upon meeting hot, hunky, extremely sexy, cowboy Sage Tanner, who is modeling for the cover of her upcoming new novel, she immediately pegs him as a "player" and wants nothing to do with him... no matter how hot and sexy he is. The last thing she wan

I listened to the audio version of Dream Kisses. I have listened to Wendy Rich Stetson’s fantastic narration of The Cypress Cove series by JoMarie DeGioia, so when I found out she had narrated this story I quickly agreed to review the recording and book. As always, Wendy Rich Stetson brings life to the characters, especially the cowhands on The Lazy M Dude Ranch!

The narrator was incredibly expressive and brought the story to life with all of the myriad emotions from each and every character! It was a really fun listen and I ended up listening to it all in one day! I just couldn't stop :) I will definitely read (or listen to) more books by this author and I will definitely be seeing what else this narrator has done so I can listen to her again :)

This is a delightfully sweet read. It's full bodied with interesting characters and an engaging story, easily one you'd want to read all in one sitting. The characters are loveable and just interesting. The author does a great job of really expressing the emotions of the characters without beating us over the head with internal dialogue. At times, the transitions between scenes seemed so abrupt I stopped to and went back a few seconds wondering if I'd somehow missed something. (I Listened to the ...more
A nice charming tale brought to life by the wonderful vocal talents of Wendy Rich Stetson. She’s really good and has an interesting array of character vocalizations that you’ll like to hear on the audible version.

You’ll like the characters of Sage, the hot gorgeous cowboy cover model and Sara the writer who inadvertently ends up in his world. They first meet when Sage is hired to be the male cover model of Sarah’s latest novel, but things don’t go to well and by the time they meet up again well

Cute cowboy romance, lacks steam...I almost finished this book and gave up right before the end. The hero in the story is described as a grogeous piece of man meat that I'd take a bite out of any day. Unfortunately, the heroine is whiny, bitchy, irritating and childish. She overreacts about EVERYTHING. Something as simple as being kissed on her palm has her storming out of a coffee shop and holding it against the sexy cowboy as if he tossed her on the table and ravished her while everyone watche ...more

DREAM KISSES is the first book I've read by Verna Clay and it won't be the last. Isn't the cover wonderful?!?!

DREAM KISSES is 100% Chick Lit, it's a short, fun, light read. DREAM KISSES is an excellent blend of emotions and laughter. I could not help falling in love with Sage, Sarah and the secondary cast. I cannot wait to see what Ms. Clay has in store for us with the future Romance on the Ranch books.

DREAM KISSES is what I consider a PG/PG-13 book, the che

This was an Amazon Freebie. The reviews I skimmed described it as sweet and with no sex scenes so I gave it a try. I actually quite enjoyed the story itself but struggled a little bit with some of the scenes and the characters. It wasn't what I would call a clean read (there is plenty of lusting for each other and unbuttoned clothing) but it didn't have many details and things faded to black. It felt like too much time was spent on other story lines instead of focusing on the relationship betwee ...more
A very enjoyable read and another example of Ms. Clay's extraordinary storytelling. Both main characters, Sage Tanner and Sarah Carter, have so many interesting layers to their personalities and life stories that make this contemporary western romance such a treat to read. The romantic climax depicted during the final chapter before the epilogue will bring forth a big smile and an awe filled sigh from every reader of this memorable story. This is book one in Romance on the Ranch series with no c ...more

Dream Kisses by Verna Clay is a sweet romance with a little more depth than the average romance. The characters were easy to get to know and like. Sage and Sarah both have some baggage in their backgrounds, so it wasn't easy for them to get together and believe in themselves. And of course Wendy Rich Stetson was a joy to listen to. Her voice was wonderful giving each character their own voice, even the cowboy accents. What fun that must have been!

I expected to not like this. Reason one; it was free, and reason two; I didn't like another book from the author. But I gave it a try and it was soooo much better. I think this book was easier to enjoy because it wasn't historical--which seems to throw quite a few romance novelists off their game.

I enjoyed the main character, the featured male, the 'how they met' story that develops, and the time given each scene: nothing dragged on or felt like it was cut short of its prime.

Nice little contempo

UGH! This was terrible - doesn't even belong on the "did not finish" shelf but the "I want my time back" shelf. The writing was simplistic, the lead woman a bitch, and the plot so unrealistic and predictable. This is why it was FREE for the Kindle!

This is an easy listening, sweet romance – with a handsome cowboy as a plus. My rating 4.25.

Sarah, alias Mims Murphy, is a successful romance writer even if her own love life, as she nears 40, isn’t so successful. There is a chemical zing when Sarah first sees Sage, the handsome cover model posing for her upcoming novel. But Sarah is quick to turn away considering him much too good looking and only trouble. Her publisher coerces Sarah into a coffee break with Sage which results in Sarah overreac

I enjoyed this listen loved the plot, characters, the twists, and the messes they get into. Poor Sarah cannot get a break if it wasn’t for bad luck she wouldn’t have any luck at all. At least this is the way she see it. You could have knocked her over with a feather when Sage comes riding up to rescue her. The author gives you some humor along with some serious parts. Sarah just wants life back to normal away from this overbearing man. Everyone is so kind on the ranch maybe Sage isn’t as bad as ...more

At first, I wasn't sure I'd like this book. It seemed like the length was so short that there couldn't possibly be decent character development or a decent story line. Boy was I wrong! You really get to know the characters and appreciate where they are coming from and where they are going.
Sarah is a romance writer that thinks she's not pretty enough or thin enough to possibly attract and keep a man like Sage. Sage was the male model for her latest book cover and has many women wanting to lasso h

What are remarkably well written beginning to a new series. This is a fast pace ever moving fun romantic drama. I just loved the whole "dude ranch" premise. It just made all the stories within the story work. All the characters were very well developed to the point where you felt you knew them & the emotions they were going through. I especially loved the circling of the wagons & how she had all the members get so absorbed in roll play that when Sage said to stop they forgot it was not r ...more

The cover of this book is deceiving. I think the cover is pretty but it doesn't fit this book, IMO. Clay created Sage, a HOT and juicy cowboy. Throughout reading this book, I had to keep reminding myself that Sage was male. This name was weird for me because Sage is a girls name.
Sarah, was a bit of a whiner. Clay sheds light on to why and Sarah grew on me but still, I can see how the character might bother people. Clay told me what Sarah was feeling but the author di

I got the whole set of the Romance on the Ranch books (5 of them) for only £1.89 so I was incredibly happy with such a good read. I really like the idea behind the story and the lead characters are well rounded and likeable.

I tend to like for a bit more to go on, maybe a disaster they had to overcome, or something else to be happening in the background to make things a little more interesting. As it was a simple love story, I would have liked to read a little more about their time together as I

A 40 y/o romance author falls in love with the 34 y/o model who posed for the cover of her latest book. It's as if Verna Clay's decided to write and publish one of her daydreams.

The plot line is almost non-existent. Sarah spends 6 weeks on the dude ranch, but there is no explanation as to what she did everyday! Plus, the only conflict in the entire book is that beautiful women continually throw themselves at Sage. Since he swats them away like mosquitoes and continues to express his undying dev

Overall the Southern Ranch Romantic Love Story between the writer and the top model, although I would like it a little more 'hot and steamy' it was a wonderful story and made me smile for almost four hours!
