6/16:
Okay, I'm not even half way through this book, but I had to write a little something about how I felt so far. Basically, Bianca and Lucas are the most idiotic and annoying couple I've ever had the misfortune of reading about. And Bianca is probably the worst heroine in a novel. Ever. Okay, so her best friend (and almost lover) is in the next room being tortured. Lucas, the biggest douche-bag in life, is jealous because she is worried about what might happen to her friend. And then Bianca go

Ah, Evernight. No matter how much it tries, it always reminds me of a poor man's version of Vampire Academy. You know, the whole 'girl at a boarding school for vamps who falls for a stake wielding hot guy' thing. I hate comparing series; it's hard to write original YA nowadays, and it's near impossible to write a book without someone accusing you of stealing something from somebody else.
When I began reading Hourglass, I realised all of the actions took place away from the school. I was a little

I'm going to start off by saying that Hourglass is by far the best book in the series so far. While I definitely enjoyed Evernight and Stargazer, Hourglass surpassed the first two books in the series by leaps and bounds. If you stick around, I'm going to try to explain why.

First of all, the characters are much more complex. While this might be because of the background and development established by the first two books, Claudia Gray definitely showed what she can do with a pen in Hourglass. The

Prior to reading Hourglass I was about as excited to admit to enjoying this series to my book loving friends as I am to confess to my musician friends that I downloaded a Taylor Swift album. Such is the nature of guilty pleasures. But now that I have read, and really really enjoyed "Hourglass", some of the stink attached to this series has worn off.

"Hourglass" immediately begins where "Stargazer" left off. Bianca and Lucas are trapped into hiding out with Black Cross, the vampire hunter cult, un

Claudia Gray has outdone herself with Hourglass. This book is the best of the series… BY FAR!! The twists, turns, struggles and climactic ending kept me riveted the entire time! All I have to say is (1) What an ending!! (2) When is Afterlife coming out?! and (3) I.CAN’T.WAIT!!! Wow… Just wow!

In this book Bianca and Lucas are together and trying to find an escape from the Black Cross Vampire Hunters before they figure out what Bianca truly is or isn’t for that matter. Their time together is since

This book was my favorite in the series thus far. Gray throws in so many surprises that I am really chomping at the bit to get the next one! The story takes off where Stargazer left us with Bianca leaving Evernight with Lucas and his Black Cross family. Their biggest fear, they think, is that Bianca will be discovered for what she truly is, a vampire, but when you get to the final few chapters you will find out that they haven't even begun to realize what could possibly go wrong. I don't want to ...more

no, no, no.... You did not just end like that!!?!?!?!?!?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, up until the last few pages....
Spoiler Alert*****
I am not into the whole ghost thing, I knew this was coming but I just kept hoping that the book would go in a whole new direction.
I am curious how the next book will be with Lucas as a Vampire. Is he going to be angry that he was turned and how is the whole Lucas and Bianca situation going to go???
Now, all I can do is wait for Afterlife to be released!!!! AH

severely disappointing read..... I thought the first book was ok and wasnt really interested in continuing the series however I was bored and read Stargazer which interestingly enough spiked my interest. Butttttttttt with Hourglass I am afraid to say, Claudia took 3 steps back

In all honesty I find lucas's character to be very boring and uninteresting so I found it hard for me to root for them to be together because I really don't understand what Bianca saw in him. However in Hourglass I could no

WOW!!! I am completely blown away!
I don't want to say to much, because I know me, and if I start one of my long reviews, I'll slip and start spoiling and I can't do that cause y'all need.to.read.this.as.soon.as.possible! But man, is it ever hard not to talk about this!!
I will say that HOURGLASS is an amazing addiction to this much loved series. Lucas and Bianca have had there love tested in so many different ways, and yet there love is so strong. It's a beautiful thing and I simply adore them! T

This series gets better with each book; something of which not many series can boast. Too often a series stumbles by on the strength of the original book, but nothing could be further from that with this series. This book has more action, more shocking events, more drama, more joy, more sadness, than the previous books.
I don't want to get into anything that happens because you'll really want to experience it all for yourself. I can't imagine how this series is going to be wrapped up, but I'm loo

I love to be taken by surprise. It doesn't happen all that often, so I really relish the times that it does. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive when I started Hourglass. The plot was a little slow moving, there wasn't that tension or anticipation between Bianca and Lucas.. will they be together, will they not be together? I think that helped the first two novels move along a little more quickly.

The last quarter of the novel is really what did it for me. I wanted to read the book becaus

Čím to? Já sama nevím. I když, musím přiznat, že tento díl byl plnému počtu asi úplně nejblíž. Mému rozhodnutí ubrat vlastně přispěl závěr knihy, respektive to, jakým směrem autorka navedla osud Biancy a Lucase. A myslím, že mi to bude ještě dlouhou dobu trv ...more

Holy smokes! What an ending... I didn't see any of that coming. I can't wait for the fourth book. Man, where is Claudia Gray going to takes us.

How to explain my three star rating though. Some of my reasoning comes from not only this book, but some other unfortunate reads lately. It seems the past few books have had less than mediocre leading ladies. More specifically, they have been overly naive and well, just plain stupid...

Then, there is the whole love-triangle thing. Oh how I hate them and t

Just finished reading this book.
I am so torn, I loved it and almost hated it!! Let me explain....

The book was amazing, I could not stop reading it. Once I started it I couldn't put it down, only to do things that had to be done. I have loved this series from the beginning. I loved the way Gray introduced the vampires, how Bianca found out what she was, or part of what she was, it was brilliant. I was caught up in the whirlwind of Lucas and Balthazar.

This book picked up right where the second on

HOLY FRICKEN CHEESE CAKE!

This book was kinda the whole climax of the series so far because everything's changed some how. Like...
~Bianca and Lucas are no longer virgins
~Bianca is a wraith
~Lucas is a vampire
~Vic is back!
~Balthazar(or however you spell his name) is back too! Evne though he was always there....
~Raquel and Dana!
~Raquel betrayed Bianca!
~Bianca is pretty much dead.
~Though this isn't really a change, Charity is still a beeeeeep!
~Etc,etc,etc, etc, etc...

THINGS CHANGED and I went crazy!

Star crossed lovers stuck in Paranormal Tug-a-War

**Third book in the series so its spoilers galore for the first two books.**

Bianca and Lucas are the star crossed lovers of the Evernight series. This love story that I’ve come to love has grown into something much more complex than any other Romeo and Juliet stylized story.

Hourglass takes off right where Stargazer left off. Bianca and her Evernight school room mate, Raquel have joined forces with the Black Cross. As we learned before, the Black

I’m really not sure what I think about this book. I couldn’t put it down, just like the first two, but there were lots of things to irritate me. I was really irritated that the characters weren’t smarter—-especially Bianca. Why could she not see things that were very obvious to the reader!? Or make better decisions? I found Raquel and her rigidity incredibly irritating. I, again, found the lack of knowledge about Lucas to be irritating—-I would like more personal experiences/information about hi ...more

This book puts the M in melodramatic. But the story and characters are so good and so strong that the melodrama doesn't ruin the story at all. This really kept me turning the pages because i just had to see what would happen next, and the ending. Oh, the ending. Gray gives us such a HUGE cliffhanger, i'm reaaaaaaaaaaally looking forward to the final book Afterlife. I really loved this book and i can't wait to see how Gray wraps it all up. I also love the characters, Bianca in particular. Her cha ...more

I really liked this book. It really showed up much in love Lucas & Bianca really are, and how they would die for each other. So now, I'm definitely 100% team Lucas. However, this book is frustrating.. and depressing. Very depressing.

This book had its ups and downs though, like the ending for instance; I definitely didn't want that to happen. Ever. And 3 quarters of the way, I started crying for like 5 minutes straight. The way how Lucas is so desperate to save Bianca is just heartbreaking. I

i had already heard that there was a cliffhanger ending, so i was somewhat prepared for it, but still, i can't believe what happened. i have so many questions and i can't even imagine how things will play out in the the next and final book.

thankfully my beloved balthazar is back, though tormented still. i can't put my finger on it, but he is such a likable character - always thinking of others and how to help others. lucas's intensity as well as his compassion was really well portrayed. i do wis

Claudia Gray is not my real name. I didn't choose a pseudonym because my real name is unpleasant (it isn't), because I'd always dreamed of calling myself this (I haven't) or even because I'm hiding from the remnants of that international diamond-smuggling cartel I smashed in 2003 (Interpol has taken care of them). In short, I took a pseudonym for no real reason whatsoever. Sometimes this is actual ...more
