OK, this dates me but I have this book in hardcover. The after-word says that this book was inspired by Anita Lobel's 1977 Children's Book Week poster. I love hearing what inspires people people to create their work. This book is a fabulous alphabet book. each page shows a person made out of different market items (apples, books...). The pictures are bursting with detail and color and would make wonderful framed pictures running along a picture moulding.

I liked how there was a rhyming poem in the beginning and end of the book. The illustrations are beautifully done. They are of the 26 items that were bought on Market Street (one for every letter of the alphabet). There is an "iffy" item and that is for the letter "x": Xmas Trees. Xmas trees? You could do better than that.

I thought this book was a really cute one and it was well done. I LOVED the pitures and how she incorporated each object onto the people. I thought it was amazing! I think most of the letters and words fit in well. I enjoyed this ABC book.

Great book! We've been working on the alphabet and this book is a great resource. Logan has started asking what starts with apple, what starts with car, etc. This book is great for working on that. Oh, and the pictures are awesome!

One of Maddie's favorites. One of the first books she learned to read.
