Susan Carlisle’s debut medical romance is a story of broken hearts looking to be mended, both literally and figuratively.

Hannah Quinn and Doctor Scott McIntyre had a short but torrid affair years ago, when Hannah was a student nurse and Scott a medical student. Their friendship had resulted in one night of passion, but Hannah was broken-hearted when Scott left their bed, and her, without a word.

Dr. Scott McIntyre is a surgeon specializing in heart transplants; a man so totally dedicated to his profession and to his patients that he has pushed a personal life out of existence except for an occasional hookup. He realized his complete dedication made it impossible for him to share his life with someone as he wouldn’t be able to give enough of himself to make a relationship or a marriage work. He watched his father, also a physician; destroy his marriage because he could not devote one min...more

It’s not often that readers find a debut of this caliber. Readers worldwide will identify with Susan Carlisle’s Hannah, a single mother who learns her very young son is in dire need of a heart transplant. She’s been hurt enough, left behind enough and can’t think about romance when little Eric is gasping...more

Susan Carlisle's debut novel tells the story of a single mom dealing with her young child's serious illness. Unfortunately, her best hope lies in the hands of a man she shares a painful history with, forcing both of them to deal with their issues from the past. Despite their feelings, they forge a partnership for the sake of the young patient and rediscover parts of themselves they thought were lost forever. This well crafted book, sweet but not syrupy, is a quick and satisfying read. Recommende...more

Carlisle will break your heart and put it back together again with the story of a little boy who needs a heart and a Mom who learns to love again because she has to learn to trust.

I found the pace of this book very slow and even though it was a medical romance it was focused much more on the romance than the medical aspect.
