I really want to like this series. I really do. It has so much potential that it could be a series that I could absolutely love, but for some reason, I find myself disappointed in it.
My main issue with Dawn of the Arcana is that it feels flat and one dimensional to me. Perhaps I've been spoiled with series like Pandora Hearts and Fullmetal Alchemist where there's a vast and well developed cast of characters, where government intrigue is carefully balanced with personal relationships, and there's...more

So far Reimei no Arcana is an engaging tale set in a fantastic world. There are equal amounts of paranormal and historical elements, the plot is interesting enough to keep me reading, and the characters are relatable. An actual problem, though, is that the mangaka manages to create more or less multi-dimensional characters, making it hard to just cast the things they do or think aside as hate-crimes or plot-device-induced-idiocities. Going to copypaste that review to the tankobons I've read so f...more
Eh, pretty good, but didn't blow me away. I like that we're learning more about how the Arcana of Time works. There's a lot of action in this volume, though, and I find the action poses in this series to be stiffly-drawn and a little awkward.
I like that we're reminded that Nakaba can fight. Go Nakaba! Rescue this princess? I don't think so!

I like this series, and the story is moving along, revealing more backstory about Cain and Caesar in this volume. But, something is missing to make me really like this. There really is no comic relief, and the story itself is a bit flat. Nakaba and Caesar are growing to love each other, but their relationship still hasn't engaged me much.
