I picked this up at a used bookstore quite a while ago and put it in my To Be Read pile, where it sat unattended until I had nothing left to read. Not that it looked bad, but only because it was so obviously an unknown quantity. It seemed interesting and intriguing, mysterious and atypical.

And so it turned out to be. It's classified as science fiction and it does contain many sci-fi elements (rocket ships, UFOs, lasers and even faster than light travel) . . . but those elements are only a minor
