It's entirely possible I'm a bit biassed about this, but I think this book is pretty amazing. In fact, I dare say it blew me away (come on, I HAD to make a wind pun!)

Normally I don't do playlists but this book got the damn Adele song stuck in my head, so why not?

Let the Sky Fall by Shannon Messenger has been a book I have been eagerly anticipating since I first heard about it. I mean, hello, sylphs? How much cooler can you get!? And with it, Shannon Messenger has really spun an intriguing tale all wrapped up in a forbidden romance and a plot that will take the world of fantasy by storm.

DNF, baby. Made it to about page 256 before I got fed up with this book, at which point I skipped to the last twenty pages.
I'm rather baffled that this novel has so few negative reviews because it's bad. Wow. I don't begrudge the people who loved it because what they like is what they like, but surely I'm not the only one who disliked this, right? Books like this are why my "troll-book" shelf exists: it's so bad it must me a joke.

This book was a total surprise for me! I had signed up to read an ARC through Around the World Tours and while I was excited to read it, it wasn't one of the ones I was dying to get my hands on. What a pleasant surprise to find that I couldn't put this book down. It totally blew me away... pun intended! :)

Reaction: COME ON BOOK NUMBER 2!--This book is bound to sweep you off your feet!!!
I just can't hold it in so first I have to say I LOVE YOU VANE!!!! Vane is the kind of character that you just fall in love with from the beginning and just can't get enough of. I have fallen in love with him and I am now #TeamVane and is now a stalker fan of Shannon Messenger :)
The story starts with Vane, an orphan who survived a tornado ten years before that killed his family. He doesn't remember mu More...

Quick Reaction: holy wow. I can't type much right now 'cause I'm out of town and on my phone, but this was awesome. I can think of reasons why some of the peeps I know might be turned off by this (Audra's intensity, for example) but I strongly suggest you hang on tightly and storm through! (Pun intended. Also, I realize that this is incredibly morbid, but it just occurred to me that this book has hurricanes and sand and we just had Hurricane Sandy. Hmm, leads to some windy apocalyptic theories.

This book blew my mind out of the water to the point that even days later I'm not sure I can form coherent sentences to even say what I'm thinking. I would have started rereading it again immediately if I didn't have to send it out to the next person on the tour. So pardon me while I pick my fan girl jaw up off the floor and try not to embarrass myself too much.
First of all, the very first chapter pulled me in and let me know that I was in the safe hands of an extremely capable writer. Shannon More...

***Thanks to PulseIt for letting me read this in exchange for an honest review.
Thanks so much universe for deleting my ENTIRE review in the midst of reviewing it. Great.
Okay, let's try this again.
The real rating for this is 3.5 stars. Why? Vane annoyed me one moment then I wanted to make out with him the next...so I had mixed emotions for him. Audra was an amazingly strong character. She feels unwanted but feels the need to prove herself to, well, everyone. More...

I would say that I've been patiently waiting for Let the Sky Fall but that would be a complete lie! I have been pulling my hair out waiting for this book. The second I read the synopsis I knew I had to snatch it up as soon as it was published. So that's what I did and to say it was awesome would be the understatement of the year!

I read this book in about 6 hours. And I gave it 5 stars. Does that tell you something? Generally I'm a pretty fast reader and I read this at the beginning of a 2-day bender where I read 5 books - YIKES! Anyway, I've been anticipating this book for agessssss. Not only is the cover gorgeous, the premise is fantastic and Shannon Messenger is a total sweetheart. You guys should totally follow her on Twitter if you don't already. First let me start by giving Around The World ARC Tours a HUGE thank you for allowing me to read this ARC. I have had my eyes on this ARC ever since they posted it on the website. The cover is so simple but eye catching it is of a guy holding a girl in a gust of wind. As you read the book you will see why the cover is so important because it gives us a visual of one of my favorite scenes.

Halfway through and I am IN LOVE. Not even kidding.
***********************************************
I have been shamelessly pushing my friends to read this book. I loved this book so much that it isn't good enough to hug it and put it on the shelf; I keep it near me with post-it flags on key passages, and wait for another reader to fangirl with. I've finished reading, and yet my relationship with the book continues to consume my thoughts.

Oh my goodness. This was an amazing book. I've been anticipating this windy day romance for-like-EVER, and boy did it live up to my expectations. It was beautiful, engaging, and romantic with a side of swoon. Everything I ask for in a book.
The story is told from the perspective of our dual narrators Vane and Audra. Audra is a sylph, an air elemental who also happens to be Vane's guardian. She's got a pretty broken past, and her character is pretty rough to begin with. And let me just say, I abso More...

*signs* Let the Sky Fall….
*cue fan girly-ness~
This book took me by total surprise. I mean, I knew it would be good…but I didn’t know it would be THIS EFFIN’ AMAZING! Like holy crap! I felt all the FEELS. The story was hilarious yet filled with somber undertones (umm?? Can you even use that to describe a storyline?! YES! YES, YOU CAN WITH THIS BOOK!) The romance was sexy and believable in an “OMG! JUST MAKE THE EFF OUT, ALREADY!” way. And the characters!? And just...the wind?! And like EVERYTHING More...

The storyline is very different. I have never read something like it within my genre. It is about air elemental, which is not drawn by magic or caused by Mother Nature. In many paranormal/supernatural/romance I've read, the girl is always needing to be saved. In this book, it is the other way around. Audra is the protector of Vane (who I find very funny with his crazy sarcasms). Also, no love triangle, yet, in which I hope there will not be one until the entire series is done. It's an easy read. Let the Sky Fall combines the swoonworthiness of Melina Marchetta's On the Jellicoe Road with the action and heroism of Kristin Cashore's Graceling.
4.75 and hovering oh-so-close to 5 stars Put this one on your to-read list RIGHT NOW. It's swoontastic.

much better than anticipated! To be honest my prejudice was due to two things: the title (and yes i still replay Adeles song every time I see the title!) and the cover. Honestly it says fluff and smooshy to me... and I'm glad to say, I was wrong.
3.5 Stars rounded up!

For the first time in my life i can say that i'm completely grateful because stories like this one exists or that there are people who write something incredible for us readers.
At first i was interested to read this book because the description was awesome and the book cover was truly amazing, but i admit that when i started the book i couldn't stop reading.

I got this book from the library because my eleven year old daughter loved Shannon Messenger's juvenile fiction book, Keeper of the Lost Cities. While I enjoyed Let the Sky Fall enough to finish it, it was a bit disappointing for me. The concept (Windwalkers who are not human, but can assume human form or wind form) was fascinating, but the execution was lacking. More than once, I had to re-read passages to understand what was going on.
I also thought the cover and verbiage on the back was a bit More...

There is a lot predictable about this paranormal YA coming of age book; a lot that is creative; and lot that is funny - intentionally.
When Vane Weston was seven, he lost his parents in a category five tornado in Nebraska. He miraculously and inexplicably survived, but with little memory of what happened. He can only remember the face of a girl, and that girl has been appearing to him in his dreams ever since.
Now Vane is seventeen, living in “the hottest freaking place on the planet” in Californi More...

Review courtesy of Dark Faerie Tales
Quick and Dirty: A girl has to prove that she isn’t a failure, while a guy is coming to grips with being a sylph and learning the girl of his dreams (literally) is real.
Opening Sentence: I’m lucky to be alive.
The Review:
Vane Weston has forgotten his entire younger years. After being pulled out of the rubble from a tornado at 8 years old, Vane is completely ignorant to the fact that he’s a sylph, someone who can communicate with the winds and convince them to More...

Once upon a time, I was eating a pecan cake that my cousin gave to me which during the time I was reading Let the Sky Fall. The reason I'm mentioning this is quite simple that the cake seemed similar to the book in some ways. So during the review I will compare a pecan cake that I ate and the book.

Got to read this online for free at pulseit.com (Simon & Schuster's relaunched teen site)!
I enjoyed this, and would rate it 3.5 stars - the whole sylph idea was really unique and cool! I wasn't really sure what to expect from this, but found it to be a quick and enjoyable light read. Though what the obsession was with making fun of Canadians (that seemed to be the only purpose for Hannah's character) I don't really get. For the record, I've never heard anyone pronounce "about" as "aboot", bu More...
