My main reaction after finishing it...

On Demon Wings is the fifth installment of the amazingly addictive Experiment In Terror series, and to me it was definitely the psychologically most challenging one... It was emotionally exhausting to read all of the things Perry had to go through and the ending wasn't exactly comforting in any way which is why I'll definitely be moving on to the next part of the series ASAP.

At the end of Lying Season...I was litterally D-YING!! Being a huge supporter of Dex and Perry's relationship I wanted to KILL Dex when he did what he did..while also realizing his utter remorse soon after! All the push and pull and whatnot with those two is what really makes this series quite feckin' entertaining. Add that to all the supernatural shit that goes on and you got a winner! On Demon Wings was definitely my favorite of the series! Even though I felt that way about each one....I still feel the same. In this installment Perry goes through a lot of ups and downs, trying the heal and create a new life for herself sans Dex. Still seeing ghosts and trying to have a more positive look on life, Perry faces her most challenging battle to date. Her lows were so great in regards to her heart break it was hard to fathom at times. Karina Halle does a fantastic job of making you feel the hurt then the next thing you know....BAM! Some shit goes down and you're like..."What the fuck?!". I know when I went to the kitchen to get some water last night...I was freaking the freak out!!

One of the things I loved about this book was Perry and Ada's relationship...it was good to see them start to trust each other and count on one another. I really think Perry should listen to her lil sis more especially in regards to a certain someone...but I wont name cuz Im not gonna spoil nothing;) Said someone is a complete douchecanoe(God I love that word) if you ask me....but whatevs!

All in all, Winner winner chicken dinner, I say! I loved every second of it and was scared shitless to boot! Anytime you're thanking someone for creating something that Literally made you almost piss your pants is saying something! Alls Im saying is read this series at night....see where that gets you! But seriously...READ THIS BOOK....it really is the most original, scary, most fantastic, dark and gritty series out there! BTW...That cover is sick and it makes so much sense now!

Oh My God, this was crazily fantastic!!! There are no doubts that Karina is amazing author. This book was full of surprises and I was seriously overwhelmed with all that happened in this book.

The book? Great.
The ending? I really hope this (book 6) doesn't go the way I think it will, given how ODW ended. I clearly could not take that.

This book was right up there with Lying Season for me. While LS still is my number one favorite of the series so far,...more I just finished this book and about threw it across the room in frustration over the ending. Then I remembered I was reading it on my Kindle and well, Kindle + wall = no more Kindle. So I decided to come here instead to release my frustrations. Frustrations that have to do with the fact I now have to wait to find out the fate of Dex and Perry and I think I may die in anticipation.

This book was right up there with Lying Season for me. While LS still is my number one favorite of the series so far, ODW is a very close second. Which suprised me because Dex is not in it for about 77% of the book. And I do love me some Dex. But I love Perry too and this book had some serious shit going down for my beloved quirky heroine.

Perry is lost and broken after what happened between her and Dex. He broke her heart into a million tiny fragments and she has to figure out how to pick up and move on after the life she loved is turned on its head. She is alone and scared and eventually, possessed. But that part is the part that causes all the problems. Because even as hard as she is trying to forget Dex and move on, a piece of him in the form of a demon-loving dead ex-girlfriend decides to haunt her and allow a demon to possess her. You know, just another typical day in Perry's world. This poor girl. Every time I think enough has happened to her a new horrifying level of evil attacks her. And the huge problem this time is the one person who can save her is no longer in her life.

I was frustrated a lot when reading this book. Frustrated with Perry's parents for not believing her and wanting to turn to hospitalization as a cure for her demon ways. Frustrated with a new douchecanoe in the form of a tall red-headed man with an alternative mission. Frustrated with Perry herself because even as much as she was hurting and trying to scrape her way back, I kept shouting at her (yes I shout at the characters in books, don't you) to call Dex, he could save her!

Thank goodness for Ada, the voice of reason, both in the douchecanoe snuffing outtage and calling in the calvary. I loved how close the two sisters got in this book and how Ada has now seen first hand what horrors her sister has experienced. She has always believed Perry, but seeing and believing are two different hings. And now they are on the same page. Which scares me for Ada because now she is as vulnerable as Perry when it comes to the intentions of their parents.

On a personal note, the miscarriage just wrecked me. I felt for Perry, having to go through something like that alone and all the while it reminding her in the worst way of the one person she was trying so hard to forget. And then when Dex finds out, in such an abrupt way, his reaction broke my heart. I can only hope that, and so much more, is resolved in the next book. Which has to be coming out soon? Right? PLEASE?? That kind of cliffhanger is not something I can stand for long. Not when I love these characters so much and feel for them. I care about how things end up, and they feel so real to me I can imgaine all this going down up there in the Pacific Northwest.

The horror quotient was racheted up a whole lot in this book and I couldn't have been more happy. There were times when I was legitimately scared, the shadow in the house being one specific part, and had to turn more lights on. And again, poor Perry is stuck in the middle of all the scary shit and this time it quite literally almost pulled her apart.

Brilliant work, and I can't wait for the next book!(less)

And, in my typical fashion with Halle books, I had stayed up entirely too late reading it but still had to start On Demon Wings right away because I HAD to know what the hell was going on. Anyway.

At the beginning of On Demon Wings we find Perry trying to piece together a new life. A life with no Experiment in Terror and no Dex Foray. The horror!! A life with mind numbing coffee slinging and an over bearing family keeping an eagle eye on her, waiting for her to lose her mind. Or, lose it more than she already has. She's heartbroken, lost and haunted. Quite literally.

There is something dark and demonic making its presence known to Perry, popping up wherever she is and at the most inopportune times. It's determined to take over her life, or kill her and the only person that believes what is happening to Perry is her little sister Ada. Ada has a pivotal role. She shows her true colors and they shine pretty bright.

Maximus makes a return appearance in this chapter with the air of 'helping' Perry. Right into bed anyway (and boy was that scary hot). Maximus was gem I really wanted to crack but he lost a bit of his luster towards the end of this book.

When it looks like the demon is winning by any cost, Dex comes back into Perry's life. But is it too late for these two to save each other? It might just be and it's going to take more trust than Perry has for Dex to be able to save her.

“He was still a douchecanoe. The douchecanoe who was going to paddle me to safety.”

Every book in the Experiment in Terror series gets better and better, as well as scarier and more addictive. There were some moments here that terrified me and I made sure that I never read it alone in the dark. On Demon Wings is beautifully sinister and harrowing account of an epic battle against demonic possession and loss of all sanity. An account I could not put down or read fast enough.

I don't have the mental capacity or the pretty words to explain what it is Halle does so well, I wish I could do her justice. This is the most addictive, uniquely creative series with the perfect mix of lovably dysfunctional characters, terror, humor and obsessive relationships. I can not get enough.

She still so angry, and so full of hate, but mostly she’s just broken, and it’s devastating to watch.

Feeling a bout of shame, I looked down at my hands. The scratches seeped clear fluid. It didn't even faze me anymore. I was becoming someone else and there was nothing anyone could do about it.

For a while, whenever I read the title of this series, my brain automatically plays hokey background organ music with perfectly timed lightning flashes. I think I stopped doing that around the 3rd book and started taking the horror aspect of this series a little more seriously.

Oh. My. God. This is possibly one of the best books I've ever written, I'm not even exaggerating. It is so good that I am going to have to come back to this review in like a day to write most of it because I a still reeling from the experience. Needless to say this is the best written and scariest so far of the Experiments in Terror series. Halle has completely out did herself and I am on edge to see what will happen next. Why is this book not on every horror lover's shelf? It certainly deserves to be.

Now, personally, having had a couple of ghost experiences myself, I find stories about hauntings incredibly fascinating. I am one of those people who watch shows such as "A Haunting", "Celebrity Ghost Story", "The Haunted", etc. So I have a bias towards more personal experiences, and that is what we get in On Demon Wings. Perry as a person is haunted, as opposed to a place, and I sit there reading, freaking out along with her, upset her parents are acting the way they are (though very realistically so). Because I believe in ghosts and such, I find this book the scariest out of all the Experiment in Terror books, there is a sense of realism in this book that isn't in the others. The kind of things that happens to Perry, are similar to experiences I've heard happening to other people and it's that that makes this book so scary.

Also, I have no idea if it's on purpose or not, but I love that there is a Rosemary's Baby feel to some of the book. I used to be really into old Horror flicks, and that is one that scared me in a psychological way, so good for that.

Now, steering away from the plot itself and towards the characters, once again Perry hits the nail with acting so much like me. The way she completely shoves off everything from Experiments in Terror and attempts to make a new life gave me chills because I had to do the same exact thing recently because of a "best friend breakup", and as people tried to reach out to Perry, pretty much just as I was reading those part, I had a friend from the past reach out to me (talk about scary coincidences). That aside though, what strikes me is that it is very realistically portrayed. Perry is running, and who can really blame her? Of course you can't run from vengeful ghosts.

Perry's family is well done as well. I love how Ada steps up. She is still one-hundred percent the character of Ada, but as the books have progressed you can really tell that she and Perry are finally connecting as sisters and that connection leads to just what Perry needed here. On the other hand, Perry's parents react to things in a very realistic way, they would much rather believe that something is wrong with Perry's head than something paranormal.

This is possibly one of the longest reviews I've ever written (and of course on the blog there is still the Spoiler section), but honestly this is one of the best books I've ever read. After finishing this book I set my e-reader down and had to take a moment. I really wish I could pick out everything that I enjoyed and why, because I'd love to convince everyone to read this series, if only to get to this book right here. I just cannot believe I have to wait for the next one, I want to read it so badly.(less)

After the ending of Lying season, or what i like to call THE MOTHER OF ALL CLIFFHANGERS, Perry, our kick ass heroine is on rock bottom.

I think there's no way I will ever not like a book of this series (wait, there is! If Dex and Perry don't ride off into sunset together eventually I'll hate the last book! ;) but this one was a little tough for me and I'll have to spoiler a bit to explain why. You've been warned ;)

Easy 5 of 5 stars. If this was Spinal Tap, I would say this one goes to 11.

On Demon Wings picks up roughly 3 months after the events of Lying Season. Miss Halle has done a wonderful job at the get go with the intro of a dream for this installment. I was pleasantly shocked that something so ballsy could happen and to think you never know what to expect in this series. Perry has yet again gone through some major life changes. OMG!! I was so excited to read this, it was all I wanted to do.

Then I started reading. What a freakin' ride! I felt so much pain and hurt for Perry it was hard to read at times.

Its like she has become a friend and watching her go threw all these terrifying ordeals is heart wrenching.You just want to take your arms and wrap them around her.

Finished this yesterday and i'm already glued into the next one.
Karina, you never cease to amaze me :)

Ok, so i know i didnt enjoy this as number 4, and i doubt i will love another EIT book as much. However, this was still great, it plunges into Perry's mind, heart and soul and completely unravels her as a person by the end.

If there is one genre that I avoid with a passion it is "horror". Ever since I saw the Exorcist when I was fifteen years old and it scared the living daylights out of me, I steer clear of demons. If you read Lying Season you probably felt like I did or actually did what I did…*sat in silence and said WHAT!* But thank goodness for On Demon Wings which picks up right where the readers left off. Karina Halle never ceases to amaze me with how she can make me feel so attached to her characters and captivates me into her story. On Demon Wings is what I believe the most important piece in the puzzle of what happening with Perry and Dex.

Perry is trying to move on, recover from the major impact Dex had left her with. Luckily for the first time her parents seem to be understanding and her sister Ada is by her side every step of the way. But something doesn’t seem right or feel right and Perry is about to discover that the evil she’s encountered in the past is now inside of her. Bit by bit Perry is loosing herself and no one seems to believe her but her sister and the one man she was trying to forget.

Perry is such a trooper; this girl has been through so much hell I don’t think I would be in the right mind after everything. But she really is trying to start over, a new job, new friends and getting her relationship with her family back in the right place. I felt so bad for Perry in this one and that’s saying something but she always been put in tough situations. But she looses a lot, is betrayed by someone she thought believed her and in the end seems to be loosing control of herself. I could go on and on about how many emotional shenanigans this poor girl goes though but I don’t want to give too much away.

Ada, bless this girls heart! I really loved her in this book. She had her sisters back when no one else did and she always knew the right thing to do. She gets a lot more insight into what has been happening to her sister and even realizes that she might be the only one to help Perry stay alive.

There is a major character that steps back into the picture and connects with Perry and even her family. If you don’t remember Maximus well get ready because this guy will shock you major in this book and I cant tell you why. Beside him Perry’s mother and father take on a bigger role, which I finally felt they were beginning to understand their daughter and be real parents. Let just say Perry discovers the truth behind her grandmother and a connection to Dex in her families past, which makes Perry question her family. Dex really makes a major impact in this story, but that all I can say.

Overall, wow! Just wow! I really can’t begin to explain how much this book not only scared the hell out of me but also how much I loved it! The story was creepy and I really needed the lights on to read it because I swear if anything made a noise I would jump out of my seat. Halle adds some major twists that will keep you begging for more, which I’m doing right now! I highly recommend the Experiment in Terror series.

RECOMMENDATION:
This is a mature young adult/ adult novel, with some minor sexual content and very scary moments. I highly recommend this to fans of Stephen King, who like some really great twist with mystery and intense moments.

This series just gets better and better, I am so hooked on Dex and Perry and their crazy lives. This book left us with another cliffhanger and at the last page i was like WHAT!!! In this book we get to experience demons and Maximus comes back into the picture (Oh, how I can't stand him). This book focuses more on Perry and left me missing Dex something terrible but he does make an appearance (comes to the rescue) towards the end. I can't wait for book 6, it feels like it's gonna take forever!!!

Where do I begin? On Demon Wings was a wild ride with Perry in serious peril. Then suddenly, I was left hanging and going, "What?? What??" I actually started jumping up and down and saying "NO NO NO"- unfortunately loudly. And I'm no spring chicken, if you get my drift. My 11 year old granddaughter was looking at me as if I'd lost my mind (I may have at that point). But, this book was worth waiting for, EVEN WITH THE CLIFFHANGER, and I can't wait until book 6 comes out.

What to say, I love, love this series although it may scare the hell out of me sometimes! Karina Halle just pulls you in, I felt as though I was with Perry. This is how I felt throughout the book.

I am sure now, that I will never find the better ghost series after EIT. I couldn't concentrate on working and I skipped my gym yesterday just to finished this book.
I still don't understand Maximus. Why did he do that? For what?
Oh, and I LOVE Ada :)

The only reason I can't give this book 5 stars is because I was missing Dex way too much! (view spoiler) I didn't think I was gonna make it. I had a really hard time not having any Dex dialogue for so long. The premise of this one was really good though and that's the reason I made it through in one piece.
