Gibbon's gives an in depth description of bat's. She focuses on the physical characteristics, special traits, flying methods, use of echolocation, diet, natural habitats, hibernation, and birth and development of bat pups. Gibbon's also mentions the loss of many bats because of habitats and pollution. Wonderful vocabulary words are introduced for readers. Children will find this story to be intriguing and full of information.
My son checked this out from his school library. They were learning about non-fiction and I was not surprised that he chose a book by the Queen of non-fiction books for children. Very informative with great illustrations.
With mysterious white nose disease that is killing bats in the Northeast by the thousands, a study of these helpful, little creatures in timely and perhaps important. In this informative book Gail Gibbons offers an intriguing look at some of the many different kinds of bats, their amazing abilities, and how these mammals fit into the natural world. Even though most people have never seen a real bat, many find them scary. In reality, bats are shy, gentle animals.
Gail Gibbons is one of my favorite picture book authors!
Another quality Gail Gibbons book. You really can't go wrong getting any of her books.
This had a lot of great information with nice illustrations. We've read a million bat books so a lot of this was redundant, BUT it is one of the better ones.
As always, pair her book with some actual photos or a trip to the zoo.
