The King's Prize (King #1)
Pan is a simple, honest farm boy. In all his nineteen years, he has only ever known his father’s farm. Yet in the few moments each day he has to himself, he dreams of another life -- something more than the back-breaking work, the loneliness, and the dirt of the farm.
One morning his prayers are answered in a most surprising and unexpected way. Roused from his sleep by one...more

This short story has the feel of a fairytale, told from an omniscient point of view. It is less about the characters’ emotions than about relating the story of how this king, Seronisis, came to find the boy, Pan, he was looking for. A little bit of mystery remains around the prophesy that foretold Pan’s existence, as well as what his exact role is. Other than warming the king’s bed, of course. In a way it is a gay version of ‘poor boy gets noticed by the king’.
This is definitely an unusual read....more

Oh my goodness! Bend me over, spread me wide, and put a smile on my face because The King's Prize is a story that pushed all the right buttons for me! I strongly suspect that I will be seeking out more of what the glorious Mr. Mansfield has to offer very soon.
Here we have an alien fantasy world, one that is subtly different from our own. On the surface, it looks very much like the world of any medieval fantasy tale, but there are a few interesting touches that remind us we're not on Earth . . ....more

This was just porn, and not very good porn, either. The main character (whose name I've already forgotten) is forcibly brought to the king (also completely forgettable) by animalistic elite soldiers (referred to as "beasts") with "huge black cocks" and "wiry hair," rather worrisome adjectives, all things considered. Then he's at the king's harem and there's lots of sex. Something something chosen one something more sex the mc is poisoned though that's never resolved the end. The writing is bad,...more

An erotic gay short story, as such there was not much effort to develop a plot outside of the erotic theme.
Never the less there is a fairy tale theme of a poor farm boy finding true love with the king of his land.
The ending of the story is left open with a HFN (sorta) ending. This is likely for the sequels.
MM Erotic readers may find this short story enjoyable.
However, I felt the romance was too mild, the sex too casual and the ending was too abrupt for my personal preferences.
