This book was so good. As in WOW!!!!! Sam & Jared will be my 1st fave couple for 2013. They both feisty, sexy, kiss ass vamp, and both as Alpha h/h. I ♥ their chemistry, witty banters & duel both in and out of bed. There is no steamy smexy not until 70% of the book but all their fights was part of a long foreplay. And when they finally do it, It was one of the hottest VAMP Sex ever! I love Sam's power, full of action and lots of adventure. Two POV which I also love. Super Funtastic, Am...more

*** This definitely was a delicious and fun paranormal read. It focuses a bit more on action and paranormal aspect with a side of paranormal romance/steam. If it is for you proceed to read it you won't be sorry as I have yet to be disappointed by S. Wright's stuff. ***

Sam Parker is a Sventé vampire who is offered a chance at being a part of The Grand High Master's personal army/legion. She jumps at that chance as it would help her get a...more

So,... I hadn't read a vampire book in a while now. I have been wanting to read this for a while, but it seemed something else always caught my attention and I kept putting this one on my back burner. WoW, I'm not sure if it was a mistake that I had put it off and was mad at myself for it or awesome, because I got to read it now. I was hooked from like the first page and had problems putting it down, and then when real life got in the way I found myself thinking about it.

Meet Jared...I couldn'...more

So I am from this moment on a diehard Suzanne Wright Fan. I have read all her books now, and she even made me really like vampires. Now not everyone can do that (I’m a werewolf/shapeshifter person myself), but she has. I like the idea that there are various species of vampires, and that each and every vampire has a special gift. This was pretty cool, and it explained the vampire lore, and and why everyone might be right, little details like that I like in mythical books. I think Ms. Wright gave...more

I enjoyed this book - nice storyline, great characters (especially Sam!) and full of humour.

However, I will say that the experience was marred a little bit by a few things.

There were a few little mistakes scattered throughout the book which didn't bother me overmuch, but the repeated use of 'seen' instead of 'seeing' (as in, 'seen as' instead of 'seeing as' or 'seen that' instead of 'seeing that so and so') was a bit distracting.

I also wished that the characters weren't constantly described as...more

After reading 'Feral Sins' and 'From Rags', I already knew that Ms. Wright was one of my new favourite authors. She writes the most perfect heroines (for me personally), and even better alpha males. I have loved every single one so far.
Also, as I mentioned in another review, I adore the English slang. Seeing the word wanker just makes me happy! LOL

This book had such an incredible cast of characters and an amazing new vampire mythology that I have never seen before, it was really refreshing t...more

Great and fast read. Loved the strong female protagonist. The story was interesting and i would indeed recommend this to vampire lovers...the only thing that bothered me was the overuse of writing "giggling" for everything. Even big ass scary vamps. No. They might chuckle. Or sneer or even laugh mightily whilst ripping out someone's throat but they don't giggle.

WOW! I simply could not put this down.. the chemistry between Sam and Jared was scorching and their back and forth banter and ass kicking was all a bunch of serious foreplay... Sam is one super kick ass vamp and she takes no shit off of anyone.. she's beautiful, tough, but also with a soft sexy side. Jared is an extreamly hot dickhead who knows exactly how to push Sam's buttons.. and whoa.. does he press her buttons. Sam and Jared knew their feelings for each other for most of the book and didnt...more

When Sam Parker was turned into a vampire, she did not realize her life would take a dramatic turn. As a consort/assassin for the last three years for her vile maker, Sam just tries to get by on a daily basis looking for an out. That out comes in the form of a mind changing offer, try out for the Grand High Masters Vampire Army. It is a rare offer especially for a woman, but Sam's gifts are unprecedented and would be a huge asset to the Army.

Of course when she meets Commander and heir to the Gra...more

DON'T THINK, JUST READ. TOTAL NO-BRAINER HERE!
This is the second book of Suzanne's that I have taken on in 1 week. I am currently on a 3rd. Her future books will all be auto-buys for me - SHE IS THAT GOOD.

Here Be Sexist Vampires reminds me of the Chicagoland Vampire series by Chloe Neill (another of my fave authors), but with quite a bit more lust, alpha maleness, and a female protagonist with serious potty mouth. I enjoyed her world-building: vamps have "gifts" (AKA their own individual superpo...more

I really liked the British flavor of this book. The banter and the realistic emotional time scale was very refreshing too! Finally a romance where the aren't each wanting to have each other's baby the first day! And even though so much of this book was 'hard to believe' it was still unique and interesting enough that you were still able to suspend disbelief so you could enjoy it. Fun book.

2 1\2 stars A nice read

An interesting vampire world. The characters are intriguing, but I didn't fell for them head over heels. The novel needs polishing, not so much of its Brit slang (which I love), but in its grammar usage (had took, seen/seeing). A couple glaring mistakes had me stop reading to try to understand the paragraph (learning rather than teaching). I'm still not sure if the unusual writing is due to the author's personal peeve or if she is trying to show us the vampire's social cla...more

I'M IN LOVE.
You'll never complain how you'll find the people in this book as badass you think. Well written.

It been forever since I read a vampire romance novel with the main girl character is badass as the guy character. To be honest, I'm beyond annoyed when the girl is epitome of damsel in distress, come on.. It's irritating as hell when she whine, cry, pout- like what the hell?! Just pick up the sword and stand beside your guy and fight! I envy Sam for that.

That's I love about Sam Parker. S...more

Read this due to April's review a while back http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... and I'm glad I did! It's been a while since I've read a series focused solely on vampires, I think the last one was Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy and while both are great series featuring young (20ish, I think the genre's called New Adult?) characters living and training in a vampire compound, they couldn't be more different. Where VA was more angst driven and took the reader on an emotional roller coaster, H...more

GIGGLE GIGGLING GIGGLED

God that annoyed me. Giggling is something I associate with dumb teenage girls. But in this book EVERYONE giggled. Whether is was the Grand Master Vampire, the High Master Vampires, the serious advisors or the tough and strong hero. They could've chucked, sniggered, chortled or even laughed. But they giggled constantly. This unnecessarily emasculated characters who would've otherwise been viewed as intimidating characters.

There were also editing issues with this book. Thi...more

If for no other reason, I read this purely because of the title. When I saw it pop up on Amazon, my first reaction was "Ha - if I wrote a book, odds are, I would probably call it something insane like this purely for the shock value." So in that regard, I couldn't resist it. I had ZERO expectations for this book and figured I would probably read the first few chapters and toss it on the "read later, if ever" shelf. But turns out, it really wasn't all that bad. There was a plot. The characters we...more

I wasn't actually expecting this story to be so well written and addicting. I figured it would be a decent read, but I was beyond wrong. I really did love this story, however there were a few things that really bothered me so I knocked off a star.

The characters were really well developed and consistent (i.e. they didn't completely change into another person at any point). It was also nice to finally see a heroine who was actually stronger than the hero. Sam is not only physically powerful, but s...more

Here Be Sexist Vampires by Suzanne E. Wright
Sam has been a vampire for three years now. She has a very special gift and her Sire will never let her go because of it. He is keeping her as his consort as well. When a stranger comes and offers her a chance to tryout for the Grand High Master’s army, Sam finally has some hope of escaping Victor for good. What she didn’t expect was to be treated so poorly for being a female and a Svente.

Jared knew the female deserved to be chosen but he could hardly...more

It was pretty good. I would recommend this book to the fans of Chicagoland Vampires series. They have somewhat similar feel. Also “Here Be Sexist Vampires” is more of a paranormal romances than urban fantasy.

Suzanne Wright is a master of creating strong, capable and independent heroines. Sam is no exception. She is smart, talented, very spirited a little homicidal and has a very sharp tongue.

I wasn’t a fan of Jared POVs. I think the book will be better if it have been written from Sam point on...more

Would have been 5 star if not for the first person POV and the alternating POVs. As a reader, I have never enjoyed that writing style. However Wright's female leads are deliciously profane and they make her novels sparkle. Again, I need to send her another cheque. Her books are too much fun to be had for only $1.50!

3.5 Stars. I have to say that I was pretty impressed with this book. It wasn't perfect, but it was a rather enjoyable read for a debut novel by a self-pubbed author. The price wasn't bad either - $1.50. The title wasn't so great, but it was definitely true. The story was interesting, and the vampire rules and customs laid out nicely to hook the reader.

In Wright's Vampire world, there are 3 levels of vampires; the Kejas (top level), Pagoris, and Sventes (lowest level). They all have some sort of...more

Suzanne Wright never disappoints. She creates fun and interesting worlds where the banter is always witty and snarky, the male is pure alpha only to be tamed by a female that is extremely feisty. The sexual tension is off the charts and when they finally get together, the sex is smokin' H.O.T. And since she writes mainly PNRs, this usually involves very imaginative scenes (view spoiler)[ In this instance, Jared sends electric sparks to Sam's clit and Sam heating up the temperature inside her mou...more

Before I start blabbing non-stop, I'll just say that the name Jared is now officially one of the sexiest name in my dictionary. (Although I think no one can beat the legendary name of Bones ever.)

So to start it off, I shall introduce the very bad-arse (since she is a British and whatnot) heroine - Samantha Parker!

"You're right. They don't respect my authority. They respect you more than they respect me."
"Yeah."
"Then that leaves me only one option."
"What's that?"
"I'll just have to whip you silly

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! "Here Be Sexist Vampires" is definitely my kind of book. It has a strong herione who is fighting against the stupidity of chauvinistic males. She continually outwits, out fights, and out manuevers them at every turn; yet, they fight against giving her the respect she so rightfully deserves.

Sam has had three tough years as a vampire. She has unwillingly been made an assassin and consort to her sadistic sire, Victor; yet, she manages to hold onto her sense of self. Then, one...more

It was concise, to-the-point, gripping, thrilling, and entertaining as hell.:D

A vampire race with powerful gifts, preparing for the imminent battle.

A strong-willed heroine, set on proving herself against the prejudice of her own race.

A commander antagonizing and driving her nuts.

A laughing-out-loud, crazy-as-hell adventurous, sexually charged experience merged with the telltale signs of romance.

I really thought this was going to be another young adult twilight like book.... And I will be the first to admit I was COMPLETELY wrong!!! I loved this book because it was so diffrent than any other book I have read about vampires. I love the title by the way, knowing now what it means, I think it's hilarious. All the vampires in the legion (army) are completely sexist about allowing a female vampire (Sam) to join their ranks, even though her power blows their power out of the water. Not only t...more

Oh and...

Totally unexpected, and it reminds me why I love this author. It could have been terrible based on all the anime-like powers people had.

So here's the story: Sam is a new vampire, only turned about 3 years ago. Since then, she's been the consort of her sire - a real asshole. One day, she's approached by an older vampire with a proposition. She's given the o...more
