When I first received Mornings with Jesus I was thrilled to have a devotional by some amazing authors! While this book didn't exactly meet my expectations it was still very good, just a lot different than I expected. I thought we would have some scripture to look up as well as some deep meaningful challenges laid out like most devotionals go. However, this is not exactly how this book goes. We do have a scripture reference, but it is about 1 line only and you don't have to look it up, it's pro

With this new book of “daily encouragement for your soul” from Guideposts, you can begin each morning with a Bible verse, a related personal story from one of the authors, and a suggested “faith step”. The “faith step” is a recommendation for prayer, thoughtful reflection, or good work for that day.
The devotions are primarily aimed at women, but their insights may sometimes be meaningful for either gender. For instance on Janua More...

One of my New Year's resolutions this year was to make more of an effort to take some time to deepen my understanding and my relationship with God. I have a few devotional books that are okay, but I was looking for something that was short and simple but full of wisdom. Once I found this little gem, I got what I was looking for.

I have struggled with finding a morning devotional to has hooked me beyond a few days. Within the past 6 months, I've tried two different ones without really getting into one. I've made various excuses about how I'm too busy as a mom, as a teacher, etc to carve out a time in the morning to spend with God. I am so glad that LitFuse allowed me to join this blog tour because it's been the first time in 1/2 a year that I've stuck wi More...

I love devotionals. They are a wonderful way to start my day, and with this devotional "Mornings With Jesus" what makes it different for me is that it is written by seven different women, whose writings are very easy to connect to. Also it is published by Guideposts a company that I turn to whenever I am looking for Christian literature.
This devotional is written in a very easy to use format, there is a one page reading for each day of the year. A Bible verse opens each day, More...

“Be still and know that I am God”
MORNINGS WITH JESUS 2012 is a daily devotional with 366 days of scripture and devotions for each day of this leap year.
Each devotional starts with scripture, followed by the devotional, and then the application. They are only a page or less in length, so don’t take much time to read. Just a few minutes of time to get your focus on God, and start the day off right.
This is not a detailed Bible study for the serious scholar, More...

My first thought is about how plain gorgeous this book is, I mean after all my online identity is CherryBlossomMJ. Then the authors listed really excite me too. I think this will be a good reminder overall through out the year to spend some time in thoughtful prayer and devotion. However, I wouldn’t want this to be my only devotional. I haven’t really clicked with any of the “mornings” so far and they seem a bit light to me More...

Included in Mornings with Jesus are Daily encouragements for your soul. Each day is a refreshing visit with God, and his Word. Then we are treated to insightful reflections by some great authors. At the end of the reading there are Faith Steps!
If you need some encouraging reading, besides your Bible of course, I recommend this being placed close by.
I received this book from the Publisher Guideposts, and was not required to give a positive review.

This devotional is very, 'fluffy'. It is more 'cotton candy' than 'steak and eggs'. There just is not enough meaty stuff to build up and sustain a persons walk, especially in these difficult times. I'm tired of watered down scripture and feel it is why so many are falling away.
