Wow, that was relatively horrible. We have Mark, a cop, and Jake, a mechanic-type who had one night together a couple years ago and meet again in a bar. Then we get the honeys and babys. Oh, did I mention Mark is married to a woman? He is. Oh, and he's there investigating a car theft ring which we don't really hear a whole lot about until the end. And insta-love. I really battle with the rating on this between 3 and 4. Mark really makes me angry pretty much through the whole story. He seems like a user and has trouble being honest about himself. He has cheated on his wife emotionally because he already clearly knew how he felt about himself before he even married her and then cheats physically with Jake and other men he encounters. This was my first M/M romance and I loved it. In fact, I was so invested in the characters, I couldn't put it down. Jake and Mark were drawn in depth. I felt I knew them personally. Their foibles and idiosyncrasies made them real. Their attraction was hot and the tension between them palpable. I was rooting for them from the start. The suspense toward the end of the book kept me hanging but all was resolved beautifully at the end. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a well-written, ...more
This book was a different type of story for me because almost every character, especially Jake and Mark, share morally corrupt character traits. That made me much less sympathetic to them but it did make for an intriging read. I would rate this a 2.5 simply because I didn't care for the MC's.
