How can I read a teaser like that at the ending, and remain mentally sane until the new book comes out??

April 2013: Finally finished my Psy-Changeling re-read. And I still have, like, fifty days to go until Heart of Obsidian. And it's been one year and thirty-one days since I read Tangle of Need for the first time. Totally suffering from withdrawal pains. *sigh*

Not a favorite, but a spectacular read non the less. As always NS keeps blowing my mind with this amazing series.
I just know I WILL NEVER GET ENOUGH of this intriguing Psy and passionate Changelings because... What's not to love about them? THE MAIN COUPLE:
This book is about Riaz, A snow Dancer Sentinel who found his mate -while working on Europe- only to discover she was already married and completely in love with somebody else. Devastated and heartbroken he decides to come back to his pack to recover from such a terrible and hurting revelation. Once appeased and contained he decides to confront Adria, the only female who wont make his life any easier. Both will have to work things out as it's clear there's just too much tension and animosity between them.
Adria, a wolf changeling soldier, is trying to recover herself after a terrible divorce. She just wants to be happy again and not feel such terrible devastation every time she remembers what couldn't be. But then there's this infuriating lone-wolf who just wont let her suffer quietly, who wont let her mourn her lost relationship alone and be annoyingly bitchy whenever she feels like it. She is miserable and can't help treating him accordingly, but only him, who just keeps awakening something inside her she is NOT ready to analyze yet.

THE PSY CHANGELING WORLD AROUND THEM:
While they discover how they truly feel about each other and try to make things work out, it gets more and more obvious that war is becoming impossible to avoid. Things between humans, changelings and psy are becoming more and more uncertain. Some start strategizing, while others start choosing sides. And Deaths start increasing. Something will have to be done, things need to stop getting worst, but what? Nothing is easy nor predictable and it's up to those who care to make things better and peaceful again, but then again, how? No one has an answer, things for the psy are getting worst and while the changelings get a bit of peace, a break inside a tiny bubble, they just can't hide from what's going on around them because it will eventually condemn them as well.
Everybody is just waiting for an impeding battle that may alter the very fate of the world.

SO MUCH CONSTANT TENSION, SO MANY DOUBTS AND UNCERTAIN FUTURE PATHS, it's just too compelling and captivating. That's what I adore the most about this series, it's not only romance and NEVER a simple read.

Be ready for another great installment in this wonderful series.

**I didn't go for the whole 5 stars rating because this wasn't a couple I was THAT intrigued or excited about. I think the series got to a point where there are too many IMPORTANT characters who still need their own book, so while Riaz & Adria were great I just couldn't help focusing in other characters like the ghost, Kaleb, Vasic, Aden, Nikita, Anthony and so many others.
Also the book was as much about Sienna and Hawke as Riaz and Adria. Normally this would be a plus -as I have been helplessly in love with Hawke since day one- but this was Riaz & Adria's story and so much information about the other couple distracted me too much.

I’ve said it time and again, when it comes to Nalini’s Psy-Changeling books, I can’t praise them enough. I’ve enjoyed some more than others, but with Tangle of Need, Nalini is again tying up loose ends and the countdown has begun to finish this series with what will be explosive results. For me it’s no longer about the primary romance. It’s all the steps, very concentrated and planned out steps, to the final outcome of the Psy community and how the changelings and humans will rise up and defeat the silence the Psy has created as their idea as to what peace and harmony should be. There’s big cracks within the Psy community and with their leaders. This is shown in Tangle of Need as we see plans for the battle that’s going to have a massive ripple effect for everyone involved. But as everyone trains for this upcoming battle, and the knowledge things are going to get very difficult and deadly, there are moments of tranquility shown through friendships, family and the relationships Nalini has created with her cast of characters.

The primary couple here from the Snowdancer pack with Adria and Riaz who are at odds with one another. These two don’t have a high opinion of one another, but have this crazy attraction where they can’t stop thinking about each other and want to act on it. Both fight hard, and when they have time to play, they don’t want their emotions involved when it comes to sex. But as we know, when two characters like Adria and Riaz get it on, their hearts will soon be intertwined. The moment these two engaged in a hot and heavy and sexual relationship, it’s beyond smoldering, more so than any other couple Nalini has created. Adria and Riaz have enough passion to fill an Olympic size pool. Their love scenes are incredible, but at times I had trouble connecting with them on an emotional level. They didn’t really fly off the page for me. I had more of an interest in all the other on-going stories such as Sienna and Hawke’s mating ceremony and their life after their HEA in Kiss of Snow. Whereas I was a tad disappointed in Kiss of Snow, this time around I was completely hooked on Sienna and Hawke.

Many alliances have been formed within the changeling packs. We also gain more insight on the Arrows, Judd and the mysterious Ghost that has become a fan favorite. The biggest question in this series is the Ghost’s identity. It’s come down to two possible characters for me. Knowing how sneaky Nalini is, I’m probably totally off base regarding the Ghost, but when it’s revealed who the Ghost is, which I think will be in the next book, it will be well worth the wait.

Nalini’s writing improves with very book she publishes, and I always end up wanting more. Gimme Gimme now is my motto here. I’m beyond addicted to any scene with Kaleb, who is not what he seems and is slowing cracking emotionally as he has become obsessed in his search for a mysterious “her”. I have an idea who “her” is mainly because of something special Kaleb possesses. This is a big clue (reminds me of Eve’s button Roarke keeps on him at all times from JD Robb’s In Death series). There’s a mega, jaw dropping reveal concerning him, so much so that I’m on pins and needles wondering… as to what I’m wondering… I can’t say, but it's one of the biggest spoilers (beside who the Ghost is) here, and what I believe will be a game changer when all is said and done when Kaleb gets what he wants.

Tangle of Need really kept my interest and shocked me silly with a cliffhanger of an ending that had me gasping for breath. Thank you Nalini, for making me lose my breath and beyond anxious (more so than any other bk before it) for the next book in this series I can’t get enough of.(less)

I love Nalini Singh & the Psy-Changeling world but this is the book I haven't been excited about much, maybe because Riaz and Adria were never characters I connected with much. Adria is dominant and was in a relationship with a submissive for years and it went sour and she had to finally admit defeat and has returned to the den, scarred.

LOVED IT! There were so many amazing things that happened:

- We got to spend lots of time with Hawke and Sienna, to the point where they almost stole the show from Riaz and Adria
- Lots of page time was spent with the wolves: Riley & Mercy had wonderful moments (an an announcement that had me happy dancing), Drew & Indigo were great and Judd... Oh Judd.

I love Nalini. To the extent that I've, literally, read everything she has in print. Upfront I want to write that I loved "Tangle of Need", also, just not so much for the love story of Riaz and Adria. Suffice it to say that regardless of my empathy for the characters I didn't get the teaching point.

I love Nalini. To the extent that I've, literally, read everything she has in print. Upfront I want to write that I loved "Tangle of Need", also, just not so much for the love story of Riaz and Adria. Suffice it to say that regardless of my empathy for the characters I didn't get the teaching point.

Every other major pair set in this world - even Judd/Brenna, Sienna/Hawke and the other psy/changeling pairings - are "mated." But, for some reason these two changelings, both wolves, aren't mates. Yes, they love each other, but based on the previous workings of the characters in this world, that's a second best thing. It makes their relationship very human, but it doesn't make it changeling; that's confusing and frankly, odd. Even after Riaz decides it's Adria that fills his heart he still feels a "tug" for his "real" mate.

Honestly, Adria should be running for the hills if her intent is to be first in his heart. That ship sailed, and with the best of good will it's an iffy proposition with an iffy resolution. Because even if Riaz decided that he'll take Adria because he loves and trusts her, she's never met her "mate" either. Martin was not it, and now Riaz is not it. What the heck? Did Nalini decide to write a story about settling? Cause that's what happened here.

Having dumped all that, the Psy civil war and the changeling place in it moved along well. We got to see more of Hawk and Sienna (I'm still working with that one, as much as I love the two it still kind of skives me that she's 19 and he's about 10 to 15 years older. I have to pretend she's older in my mind or I get all icky.) We see some of our faves from previous books. There's lots of Aden, Vasic and Krychek, plus Alice is finally awake and Henry's gone (I felt like singing a verse of "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.")

I think the book met its purpose of moving the arc along and it feels like that was what it was supposed to do. Now of course, I'm already jonsing for more.(less)

For a book that doesn’t have a huge battle or showdown at the end, there is a lot that gets packed into this latest Psy/Changeling story, TANGLE OF NEED. After the huge fight that ended KISS OF SNOW, it was a nice change of pace to have this book focus a lot on relationships and the new buildup for what’s coming up in the future – Pure Psy bringing down portions of the Net in order to control it and the Psy.

Tangle of Need is exactly what it needs to be for a series that is on it's 11th book.

This is book 11 of this series and I'm still so hooked that the same day I got it I started reading it and finished it the next day. In each of the books, the romantic story runs along other psy and changeling events that are so engrossing I never want whichever sub-plot I'm reading to finish. This one has the love story I've liked the least so far, and it didn't even bother me, the rest of the stuff was sooo good. Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series continues to be, hands down, my favorite paranormal series! It is the only series where I ENJOY the interludes into the other side. I don’t skim or dread reading about the Psy, in fact I pay very close attention to ~~Kaleb~~ the Psy. With that being said, unfortunately that is what helped this book receive solid 4 stars from me.

If I were just rating the main couples romance I would have given 3 stars. Riaz and Adria just didn’t have the chemistry that I usually relish in when reading a Psy/Changeling book. I felt as though their relationship with one another was one of convenience. They were both available, needed to have skin privileges with another wolf and didn’t want a commitment. Eventually, I could feel that they were developing a deeper connection but not at a level that we normally see in this series. (view spoiler) Let me just say, they were still SCORCHING hot together!

What made this a 4 star read what the interactions we were able to see with the other characters. I loved, loved, LOVED Sienna and Hawke. We were able to see their relationship grow not only as a mated couple but as the leaders of their pack. I am hoping we will be able to see Riaz and Adria in the future in this way. (view spoiler)

I feel like the main focus of this book was to advance the main arc in the series. Which is fine with me because, in this series, I enjoy the interludes with ~~Kaleb~~ the other characters, especially the Psy. The story really went deeper into the impending Psy civil war and the different roles the Changeling, Humans and Psy are playing in it. There are many different and somewhat unexpected alliances forming in preparation for this. What I love about the Psy characters is (even after 11 books) you can’t get a clear read on their intentions (probably because their Psy, huh?). Even though most of them probably don’t have the best intentions with their actions, I am still rooting for them and want to see more of them in the future. Preferably, with a wolf or a leopard petting them and getting all touchy feely like they do.

I am completely taken by this incredible world Ms. Singh has created with her passionate and complex characters. Now, we just need to know who the H/h are for the next installment! Because, yes, I am jonsing for the next book and will inhale it as soon as I get it in my greedy hands.

Riaz and Adria’s relationship burns steady and hot in this tension filled installment in the Psy/Changeling series. This is definitely a time when I’d recommend reading the previous books in this series prior to this one. Rest assured that each book is well worth the read, and you have a wonderful journey in front of you. Read no further if you don’t want spoilers for the previous books.

We first met Riaz and Adria in Play of Passion. Riaz had come back from Italy after having found his mate – except she’s already married and he can’t have her. Adria, Indigo’s aunt, was in a destructive relationship that’s nearly destroyed her sense of self. Sparks fly between them from page one, something neither is sure they want. But they have to figure it out because they can’t seem to stay away from each other.

The romance here ended up being one of my favorites. I admit that when I started the book I wasn’t invested in Riaz and Adria and, as such, it felt like this book wasn’t really focused on them. It didn’t take long, however, until I absolutely adored both Riaz, with his strength and the warmth, and Adria’s quick mind, intelligence, and warm heart. What I immediately anticipated, even as I worried about the resolution, was that their relationship was unlike any other we’ve seen in the series. There were real obstacles set up pitting Riaz and Adria's love against the odds in world as we know it. Nalini Singh resolved these conflicts in an absolutely stunning way – and one that didn’t involve any deus ex machina, but simply made me believe in their love even more.

Ms. Singh is absolutely a master at weaving together multiple plots and threads throughout each book and, indeed, the entire series. Seemingly effortlessly we are treated to a whole lot of beloved characters from previous books – most especially Hawke and Sienna who have a very prominent plot line in Tangle of Need. It was wonderful to see more of their story and how they’re making it work. Additionally, we see a lot of Kaleb (*sigh*), Judd, Mercy, Riley, and many others. Tangle of Need was a book just made me happy. I spent nearly the entire book smiling, laughing and cheering.

Honestly, Ms. Singh is a master of her craft. I’m constantly in awe of her ability to weave engaging, relevant, interesting stories around characters I truly care about, in a world that’s so incredibly complex and compelling. Every time I pick up one of her novels I know I’m in for a treat and Tangle of Need was no different! Already I’m counting down to the next Psy/Changeling novel!

ETA: The last scene of the novel absolutely ramped up my excitement for what has to come next! It can't possibly be another year to wait...(less)

How could ToN, a story supposedly concerning two extr...more 'Tangle of Need' is an awesome addition to Nalini Singh's 'Psy-Changeling' series.

Going into ToN, I wasn't sure I was going to like it as much as previous P-C installments. Its highly anticipated predecessor, 'Kiss of Snow' was "epic-ly" brilliant and offered the double whammy of not only finally providing Hawke and Sienna's story, but also had the bonus romance between Walker and Lara - this, I thought, was going to be a tough act to follow! How could ToN, a story supposedly concerning two extremely minor characters, even begin to compete? Especially when there are so many other way more interesting characters to write about? Like Vasic, Kit, and Kaleb!!!

It turns out I shouldn't have been concerned - Nalini Singh can pull anything off! Riaz and Adria may not have made a big impression when we first me them in 'Play of Passion' but I ended up really liking both of them (a lot!). While Singh started stretching the concept of "mates" among Changelings with Hawke and Sienna in KoS, she pushes its concept to the limit in ToN making Riaz and Adria's story incredibly touching and sweet.

NS always sprinkles tidbits throughout her P-C stories about other characters in her complex world - eg. we usually get POV's from at least one person on the Psy council - but she pulls out all the stops and gives us multiple perspectives from characters set on converging paths. We get poignant scenes from Hawke and Sienna as their relationship matures, in addition to those from sexy/aloof Arrows Vasic and Aden, and the coldly arrogant Kaleb!! It's evident that ToN is heralding the end of this wonderful series, as NS constructs an epic conclusion where the balance of power between the three races - Psy, Changeling and Human - rests on more equal ground.

Given the last scene from ToN (and his relative prominence throughout the book), I'm fairly certain the next book is going to be about the craftiest, most prominent and strongest Psy in the P-C world. Since he first came on the scene in 'Visions of Heat' I've been more than a bit intrigued about Kaleb and am ecstatic about the possibility of his book. He's finally found what he's been searching for and I can't wait for his cold, Silent world to be rocked! Bring it on!

Just finished it and I loved it. It was one of my favorite releases so far this year (4.5-5 stars). Although I didn't like Riaz and Adria at the start of the story, by the end I had really connected with their characters and empathized with what they went through. That is one awful cover. I loathe it.

A good installation to the Psy-Changeling series though it didn't live up to Kiss of Snow. There are a lot of sub-plots running around in this book. While Adria and Riaz are the primary couple, we get to see Sienna & Hawke relationship and Mercy & Riley's relationship. Also subplots involving Kaleb, The Arrows, Ming, Alice and the Psy in general. Let me summarize the fist 60% of the book:
They have sex, and they have sex and they have sex and they have sex and ... with "they" going through the various mated pairs and so on. I really don't care. While action might be a pretext for various one-on-one in those books, the porn channel is also open 24/7. There were various aspects that were barely touched:
1. Ghost
2. Kaleb
3. Henry
4. THE GREAT EPIC BATTLE THAT FAITH SAID WAS COMING FOR SURE AND IT WASN'T THE ONE IN BOOK 10

Verdict:Dissapointed

Tangle of Need puts everything I thought I knew about the Psy-changeling world and every theory I've predicted thus far in a bowl and mixes them all up.

Adria and Riaz have an instant attraction. Adria is broken following the end of her long term relationship with less dominant Martin. Lone wolf, Riaz met his mate, Lisette in Venice, she's a women he can never have as she's already happily married; he sees his attraction to Adria as a betrayal of his changeling nature.

Although I wasn't thrilled about reading another story of a woman who tries everything to be bitchy - yes, Adria is difficult - I really wanted to know how the great story underneath it all develops. And I am pleased.
Not only is the greater story really heating up at this point, but I have a new favourite character. I already liked him so so SO MUCH in the last book, but in this story, he appears rather often and made me very happy every time I read his name: Aden.

First off, I'm a huge admirer of Singh's writing, and the Psy-Changeling books are my favorites over the Guild Hunter series. Tangle of Need was supposed to be Riaz and Adria's story, but there were many other threads woven in, as well. Re-read started 5/12/12 and it was just as good the second time around :)

This book is one mess of Tangles. An emotional rollercoaster all the way through.

It isn't simply a case of boy wolf, Riaz, meets girl wolf Adria, and there's happiness all around. Nooooo, Riaz has already met his destined mate, a human, who is happily married to another human. So he is an emotional mess and comes home to the pack to try and deal with it.

I have to admit, I got a kick out of reading the reviews of this book from my GR friends and people I follow. They are all over the map! Usually there is more consistency. Tangle of Need is the 11th book in Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series. When I started this book, I felt it would be a letdown after reading Kiss of Snow. I adored Hawke and Sienna. What I loved the most about this book, was that though we got to enjoy the romance between two dominant wolves in Riaz and Adria, we saw a lot of Hawke and Sienna. It was so great to spend time after their mating ceremony in Kiss of Snow with them. Love love them together. We get to see Mercy and Riley also, and that was fun…with a special surprise coming their way. Lucas and Sascha, even a funny scene with Faith. Of course we also spend time with Judd..he has turned into a wonderful character. We also see so many other Snow Dancers, and that is something Nalini does so well. She has great characters, and uses them so well.

Riaz is a Snow Dancer Lieutenant, who found his mate, only to find her married and in love with someone else. This accounts for his belligerent attitude early on. Adria, who is Indigo’s aunt, is a top Snow Dancer soldier. She broke up with her dominant other, and finds herself totally attracted to Riaz. But Adria fights this, as she wants nothing to do with another dominant man, whom she feels she cannot trust. So at the start, both do not like each other, and try to avoid any contact. But suffice to say, that doesn’t happen and the two are drawn to each other, especially sexually. There are difficult times ahead, but as they begin to learn to enjoy their sex, learn about the other, things begin to change. It is really nice to see how Adria totally understands the dilemma Riaz is in having met and rejected by his true mate. She becomes more sympatric towards him, and also finds herself falling in love with him. Adria is willing to break her own heart, to allow Riaz to have his happy ending. But Riaz also begins to fall in love with Adria, and despite his unable to do the mating bond, he fights to keep her. This is really a very nice romance.

The story continues with the Human Alliance; the Pys Council, fighting each other; more changelings packs trying to form alliances with Snow Dancer and Dark River; and the Pure Psy group, all trying to assume control. Three main Psy characters had a bigger part in this story, Kaleb, Vasic and Aden. I expect to see more of them, perhaps their own stories along the way. Of course, the mystery continues as to who is the Ghost. This part of the story with the pys was exciting and we do learn a lot more, and Nalini slowly brings us along. The ending was excellent, even to the last surprising page.

This was such an enjoyable book, seeing our favorites, and with everything flawlessly falling into place. I can’t get enough of Nalini Singh and this wonderful series.
