I Am Me
by
Ram Sundaram (Goodreads Author)
"I Am Me" is a two-way book that contains twenty short stories, divided into ten individual pairs. Each story in a pair has a corresponding "mate" on the other side, which shares the same title, theme, and to an extent the same concept, but is presented in an entirely different way. One half of the book examines reality, while the other half explores the realms of fantasy....more

The door behind him opened and I saw Amelia enter the room again. I turned around expectantly, but there was no Amelia in my room. I listened to her asking him to be ready for his cue in two minutes. He nodded, and she wished him good luck with a kiss that told me their relationship was different than the one I shared with her. When she left the room again, he turned back to the mirror and looked at me… yes, directly at me.

I Am Me by Ram Sundaram is written unlike any book I've ever read before and it really worked in my opinion. The book contains 20 pair of short stories, 10 on the reality side and 10 on the fantasy side. I have a huge imagination and fantasy is always my "go-to" when it comes to reading or even watching movies or TV. My fiance on the other hand has NO imagination and is a major realist so when I started reading this book, I took the time to read it out loud with my fiance to get his input as wel...more
I Am Me is not your average collection of short stories. It is decidedly
your above average collection of short stories. Just as the top half of the cover is a reflexion of the bottom half, the front half of the book is a reflection of the back half. Each story in the book has a 'reflection'. This is so hard to explain and so cool to read. Starting with the Author's Note and Acknowledgements and moving through the book, each story is retold in the other half of the book. The stories have the sam...more

I surely hope that I’m not one of the only people in the world who wonders if this whole existence is a dream. If one day, when I’m old and gray, I’ll fall asleep and then, poof! I’ll wake up to live a new life, only to have it happen over and over again. In that same sense, I can’t help but find myself waxing poetically about nature and the beauty of the Earth, and how fascinating and amazing it is that we are actually here. Living, breathing, creatures who are capable of so much. So much thoug...more
There's only a handful of books I can say ever made me deeply really reflect on life, myself, and the world after finishing reading. With I Am Me I found myself reflecting after almost every short story. You can't help it. The themes are so simple, yet the stories trigger thoughts that never really occurred to me before. You may have seen on my Top Ten Favorite Quotes I listed one from this book. That is because it has stuck with me long after I read. If you missed it here it is:

First I’d like to thank the author for sending me a copy!
This book is definitely different than anything I have read before. It’s divided into two sides, one called Dreamless (the more realistic side), and the other the Dreamer. It’s all short stories, and I’m not going to talk about each individual one since there are technically twenty, but instead I’ll talk briefly of each side of the book.
