Christian "chick lit". I have had this one on one of my several "to read" lists for some time now. Finally got my hands on a copy.

Things I liked: I liked the main character, Christine Bennett. She is an orphaned 19 year old, on the run from the unscrupulous partner of her late grandfather. She is a spunky, independent sort of person with a kind heart. Leading man, Luke Cameron seemed well thought out and decidedly appealing as did all the Cameron's in this novel. They were all people I would en...more

A very suspensful book about a girl running from her home after her grandfather's death. She is unsaved and finds herself pursued by a wicked man. She learns what home is when she dwells for a while with a Christian family. I have read this a dozen times. I never tire of it.

As the dim lights of the train station faded, Christine Bennett wondered if she would ever see home again. With the death of her grandfather, Christine experienced a deep loneliness she’d never felt before.

The words of his will rang in her ears: “In the event of my granddaughter’s death, everything will go to Vince Jeffers.” Jeffers watched her with an evil look that made her shiver.

Now, afraid of what might happen, she was obeying a note she had received saying she was in danger and must leave...more

I really liked this book as it was one of those books you just can't put down. In fact, I stayed up way past my bedtime to find out how it ended, and then paid for it the next day. This is just the first book in the series, so I am on to book two!

I have always had a soft spot for historical romance/drama filled books. This one by Lori Wick never fails to be a fun, albeit fast, read.
Great for an afternoon on the beach or backyard hammock.

This has got to be one of my favorite books of all time. I fell in love with this book when I was in the 7th Grade. It is such a beautiful story and the characters are so loveable.

The Place called home series is about the Cameron Family in Wisconsin.

In Book one A Place Called home is about how The Lord brings Luke into Christine life when she has to leave home with a killer on her trail.

This book may have a historical setting, but it reads contemporary. Lovely, lovely story.

The time and place of this book is a fun period for me to read. The differences in belief systems is interesting to me too - I enjoy the perspective of this Christian author.

An old favorite that I always like revisiting, despite the head-hopping.

I Love this story line. Very good and well thought-out.

I didn't care for Christine being so weepy. It seems like the author could have found a better way to express the character's feelings without making her cry all the time. She seemed like such a strong character until she started crying.

Luke was a terrific character. Definitely very male in his communication skills!

I found the book very engaging and enjoyable, although the author seems to write a bit stiltedly. Still a good book.

I really liked this, although it kinda scared me. :/

Very Very Good,It is a book you never want to put down.

This is a page turner, a sort of who done it book.

A little to tame for me. Very predictable.
Amy
Good book and keeps your attention.

Lori Wick has long been my favorite author. I've read most of her books through dozen's of times. I just read this one for the second time and must admit it doesn't quite live up to her other ones. Each chapter is only about a page or three long and while the story line was great it just wasn't the quality that I've come to expect from Lori Wick. (Switching POV with no notice, not giving a firm grasp of whose talking, poor editing...). I still enjoyed the book, but I'm glad I never bought this o...more

I loved this series!

Predictable and preachy.

This is the first book in a 4 book series. This was a sweet easy to read book. The Cameron family is east to fall in love with. I look forward to reading the next book in the series to see what is in store for Si and to read more about Luke and Christine.

This was one of the most boring inspirational fiction books I have ever attempted to read. No matter how hard I tried, I just could not get through the whole thing and ended up reading only about half. The plot could have been interesting enough, but the pace was slow and the characters forgettable. If you want to read some of Lori Wick's books, you should definitely skip this one and instead try Sophie's Heart or The Princess. They are both much better!!

My mom loves these books. They are good because they don't have any "naughty" love stuff and they are based on Christian ideas. But I tend to think Lori drags on her stories and you she tells you who the bad guy is. I like books that surprise me and make you not want to put it down. But hey if you need something to read at night that doesn't take much thinking these are probley perfect for that.

I liked this book. A young girl lost her grandfather and someone wants to kill her. She rans away and gose to this town and gets hurt. The doctor of the town heals her and she lived with his grandmother. She fell in love with one of the boys named Luke. Then she comes face to the person who want to kill her and her lover recuse her. They lived happy ever after.

This is from the first series that Lori Wick wrote. It has been ages since I have read these books and I don't own them (OH, I do own "A Gathering of Memories" which is the last in the series), and I do need to read them again. When I do, I will update this review. But this is a good series with good strong characters.

Lost and found in love, life, and Christ. That is definitely what this book is all about. This book makes me feel like a hopeless romantic, but at the same time so grateful for what I have. I really have not yet read a book by Lori Wick that I didn't like. I'm now off to find the sequel to this one.

I loved this book, and just found out it is the first book in a series! I was really into it and finished it today (3-15-08). The storyline was pretty predictable, but it was a very good read for me. I am off to find the next book (since Janis doesn't have it!!!) :)

This was so cheesy, I could hardly make it through. Too many Bible verses thrown in and I could totally see the whole plot. Really boring!
