***This review will contain spoilers for the first three books in the Shadow Falls series.***

WHISPERS AT MOONRISE just didn't quite do it for me, unfortunately.

The fourth and penultimate book in CC Hunter's SHADOW FALLS series brings us back to the Shadow Falls camp with Kylie Galen and the gang. We have just learned that Kylie isn't a vampire, a werewolf, a witch, or part-fae; she is all of them. Of course, we don't know what this means for Kylie; we just heard it from some dead guy...more

My prediction for this book is that Lucas is going to be forced by his grandma to marry a were like Fredricka ( the were-bitch) in order to stay in the pack, but Lucas wants Kylie so I have a feeling he'll end up leaving the pack and being Kylie's soul mate. As for Derek, I'm at a loss as what is going to happen. i favor Lucas, I think because he's loved Kylie so long I think that they truly are soul mates, but I love Derek and his sensitivity swell:(((

October 3rd:

Let me just start by raising a...more

OMG i cant wait until October. It seems like this is the month for everything I want to read to come out. But hey I am NOT complaining. Now to make my little comments:
1) The cover could of been soooooo much better
2) I hope Holiday and the big sexy FRU vampire agent get together FINALLY
3) Miranda and Perry are goig to fall in love
4) Della is going to get a boyfriend who can treat her right and who knows what she is
5) Lastly the whole Kylie-Lucas-Derek situation. Really a part of me is confuse...more

I devoured this book in a couple of days. I really can't get enough of the characters in Shadow Falls! Every installment just endears me more and more to their interactions, foibles, and character flaws. It all makes me love them the more. Except for one particular character in this installment. *grumbles emphatically* Whose name I can't say because of spoilers. Damn you spoilers, I so want to call this character out on their bad behavior!! Needless to say, that particular character went down in...more

Whispers at Moonrise is the fourth book in the Shadow Falls series. And with only one more book planned in the series, I know I'm going to be deeply saddened to leave this world which I've really enjoyed spending time in.

Kylie is living at Shadow Falls, a camp for supernaturals. But Kylie isn't like the other kids at camp, she's not a vampire, or werewolf, or shifter, or fae. She's a chameleon, which means she has the DNA for many different types of supernatural. Not many ch...more

Kylie knows what she is now, but not what it means. She’s a chameleon? She’s a lizard? She has no idea what’s going on now and has more questions than answers. And to add to that, why did that ghost have Holly’s face? Holly isn’t dead yet…but does that just mean that she will? (ok, so there’s a spoiler in my review which means if you don’t want to know this tiny spoiler, avoid all paragraphs with a *) Not to mention that even though Kylie’s finally chosen Lucas, she can’t deny her feelings for D...more

She better pick Derek. Lucas is annoying to me. I just don't like him as much as Derek.

Just sayin'..

loving the title! makes me think its got everything to do with lucas.

There is so much to say for this book. I really think it's the best one in the series so far.

I laughed because some of the situations and dialogue were hilarious: Kylie accidently appearing in the boys bathroom, Della talking about why she would never stuff her bra, Kylie calling out her mom on having sex and several others. I was literally laughing out loud - maybe because I have a vivd imagination and the way the scenes played out were so embarassing that you couldn't help but laugh.

I absolutely love this series. I am going to hate to see the day it ends. With each twist and turn that Kylie goes thru, she learns more and more about what she is and what she is capable of. Being torn with loving Lucas, and Derek being in love with her is just one of the issues she is having to deal with. But when a ghost that looks just like Holiday comes around, her fears of her friend being murdered are too much for her to handle alone. She is still in search of the answers to all of her ta...more

Wow!! This book was sooo slow!! It only got 3 stars from me because of her friends. (excluding Derek). I just live Burnett and Holiday!! Only reason the book is actually worth reading!! I also love Perry! Della and Miranda are good but I dislike Della's mood swings. Kylie was just annoying!! Ugh and she better not end up with Derek!! I mean I don't like Lucas either but he's better than Derek!! To be honest I have no idea what Derek and Lucas see in Kylie. All she does is whine about all the awe...more

So now I finished the first four books and waiting until the end of April for the last book (which honestly I will be glad to be finished). Not that I don't like it because I really do. For the most part it is interesting and entertaining. The story of Kylie coming to this paranormal camp and slowly learning things about who she is has many interesting revelations to it. My biggest issues with the book are:
1. Kylie is just too fickle. First she is falling for Derek but having these seriously hot...more

I was excited to get back into this book, but really shocked when I found out I didn't remember a thing that happened in the book before this one. When I read this series I have found that I always tend to forget what happened when I get the next book, so its a constant catch-up of what happened last, because I just don't remember! But it is a good unique and interesting series, though I think there is just too many people working against her. Hunter needs to pick one bad guy, and stick with the...more

So now Kylie knows she's a 'chameleon' but ?what does that mean. (Although it is pretty hillarious the way that she stresses out about being a lizard). And once again there's a 'ghost-du-jour' although this time at least it's to help someone else.

There's a lot of scary stuff happening but at last Kylie is acting more mature. Lucas is definitely hiding things but she's coming to terms that if she keeps secrets that he's entitled to as well (view spoiler)[Although keeping secret the fact that you'...more

The Review is along with others is posted at The Book Twins

Hunter's fourth book in her Shadow Falls series like the last one, picks up right where the previous left off. And with a new book, Kylie has a new ghost problem. Only this time it's the ghost of Holiday who definitely isn't dead. Not wanting to scare Holiday she lets everyone pretend the face the ghost is using is from someone from back home.

Trying to figure out who the ghost really is, isn't easy. But with the help of Derek they reali...more

Hmmm, I feel guilty because this will surely be a biased review. WHY? I hadn’t followed the series; in fact this is the first book I’ll be reading from C.C. Hunter. I just asked to review this when I saw her name and all the fussed about her books, not even thinking that this is the fourth book in the series. So, I’m not so totally in love with the story! Sorry!

Kylie Galen, the heroine, finally knew what she is, a Chameleon, BUT she doesn’t know what that means! More confusing of all, she can se...more

Just finished reading this, and I've got to say.......... I loved it. This is one of my favorite series.

***SPOILER ALERT***

Favorite things-- The cover. The title. Della, the baddest vampire. Miranda, the dyslexic witch. Derek, the perfect man. Kylie, the chameleon (loved that part!) Burnett, for finally admitting his feelings. Holiday, for saying yes. Socks, for turning back into a kitten. Unpredictable magic, including a six pack. And just about everything else.

The bad parts-- Lucas. I don't li...more

I loved this book!! I fell in love with the series when I read Born at Midnight, and for once these books come out every six months (about).
(Caution contains some spoilers)
THINGS I LOVED:

1) The plot, I had always hoped that Kylie would do something like she did in the end! Talk about a cliff-hanger!
2) That she found out what she was.
3) That we actually found out a little about Holiday's past
4) Burnett getting jealous over Blake. I mean finally Burnett shows some sort of affection towards Holida...more

I'm glad I took a chance on this book.

Honestly, I was getting a bit weary with the series, because of the third-person narrative, and the confusion about Kylie's identity... It was dragging on.

BUT, I loved all the side-stories.
I loved all the characters, especially Della.

I kind of wish I got to read more about Miranda and Perry's relationship.

Also, I would have liked to see Kylie interacting with both Lucas and Derek on a deeper level. It's like, I'm TOLD Lucas "really likes" Kylie, but eve...more

I can already tell you now that this book series will one day be made into a movie. How do I know that? Just by reading this series you can feel the suspense and thrill of adventure coming off the pages. Your immediately transferred into a world filled with non-stop mystery, drama, romance, and more. It's like the more you read the deeper you get into discovering something new that you never knew was there before. C.C. Hunter's way with fluidity of language in the novel kept me focused the entir...more

I can feel the suspense rising off the page when I am reading books like this one. I feel like this series would be the perfect one to be made into a movie. The world that I was transported to with Kylie was fabulous and even though I have not read the first 3 books in the series I did not feel like I was extremely lost. The language and fluidity of the novel kept me focused and enraptured the entire time that I was reading it. C.C. Hunter is great at hooking readers from the first sentence or p...more

Notes: I'm one of C.C. Hunter's Street Team and received an advance copy of this book.

"Why does my life need to be so damn hard?"

Kylie Galen thought finding out what she was would make things better, but it didn't. If anything it just complicated things even more. She has finally discovered what type of supernatural she is, well, sort of. She knows the name, but not exactly what it truly entails. She is a chameleon and no one seems to know exactly what that is, but Kylie's hopeful it doesn't i...more

So I'm having mixed feelings about this book.
I'll start with the problems.

Problem 1:
Why does everyone loves and cares about Kylie so much? Because she's different? She doesn't know her species? It's as if without Kylie, there would be no Shadow Falls.
I mean for example, no matter how much I hate a person, I really don't think I could ask my mom whether she has sex with her boyfriend. I get that she apologized for her behavior, but the others didn't seem to mind her outburst at all, even before...more

You can't take these books seriously. Which I don't. They're so bad they're good.

The thing that annoys me about these books is not the dragged plot that just repeats itself (I survived Glee season 3).

But Kylie. Everyone only thinks about Kylie's safety, Kylie's species, Kylie's love life.

And everyone forgives her and defends her. In their world she can do no wrong. Sometimes it makes sense, like when she went into the woods to save... someone. Other times it didn't. Since when can a child ask so...more

Whispers at Moonrise is the fourth book in the Shadow Falls series. All the books are from the point of view Kylie, a teen age who has supernatural abilities that aren't defined by any typical group. She can heal, run at incredible speeds, has excellent hearing, feel other peoples emotions, go invisible, dream scape (create dreams that she can share with other people) and she can see ghosts. But the catch is she doesn't have all of these abilities at once. They change depending on what her brain...more

C.C. Hunter grew up in Alabama, where she caught lightning bugs, ran barefoot, and regularly rescued potential princes, in the form of Alabama bullfrogs, from her brothers. Today, she's still fascinated with lightning bugs, mostly wears shoes, but has turned her focus to rescuing mammals. She now lives in Texas with her four rescued cats, one dog, and a prince of a husband, who for the record, is...more

“Take some very deep breaths," Miranda said. "Relax. Concentrate. Then envision a frosty six-pack and wiggle your pinky."
A frosty six-pack. Kylie inhaled. He held out her pinky, and right then Della chimed in. "We are talking a six=pack of soda, not a cold guy with good-looking abs, right?"

There was a strange kind of sizzle in the air. And suddenly appearing in front of the refrigerator was a shirtless, shivering guy with great abs. His blue eyes studied the three of them in complete bafflement.

"What the...!" he muttered.
Kylie gasped.
Miranda giggled.
Della snorted with laughter.”

“The stupid vamp just asked me to marry him. Here, now? As if looking like I just died is how I wanted to be proposed to."
Joy did a lap around Kylie's heart. "And you said?"
Holiday took a sip of water. "I asked him if we couldn't just live together in sin."
"And?"
"He told me it wouldn't be a good example to our students. So...I agreed to marry him." She pushed a hand against her forehead. "Dear God, what am I getting myself into?”
