I enjoyed reading Shadow of the Witte Wieven unique storyline . Aliyana works for the DEA, and she is almost wrapping up her case. Her case, to catch the Columbian drug lord Emil Mercado. She is working on the last minute details, collecting evidence which will ensure Emil's arrest. Upon completing this task she makes a run for it, only to find her source of transport, her bike missing. She hijacks Emil's plane - after kicking some butts along the way - and flies, escaping the guards and gunshot...more
This was a fun, exciting read! Historically speaking, I am not a sic-fi reader, unless the hook is original enough to grab my attention. And Debbie Peterson scored with me. I love time travel novels. Love, love, love them. And this book had some magical elements that made this book feel a lot less "Star Trek" and a lot more "Superheroes meets fairy tales" for me. When Shadow of the Witte Wieven became available for review, I almost passed it up. It wasn't because I didn't want to read it, I did. It's exactly the sort of story I love to read. I just wasn't sure that I had time for it. Well, I am very glad that I did not pass up the opportunity to read this book. I loved it!

I really enjoyed this story. Aliyana was deep undercover when her expiration time came and she had to flee for her life. This was an interesting book, as Peterson takes on another angle of the paranormal and myth. Though sometimes a bit confusing and far-fetched, the idea is created in a plausible manner. Aliyana and Wolf are both good characters, daring and brave. Their relationship is an underlying force throughout the story, though I felt like I didn't see as much of its development as I had wanted. The same with the side characters. I will confess I might have expected too much from this book. It has a Dutch sea captain as a lead character and the title refers to Dutch folklore, so I was hoping for a good ghostly read.
First disappointment: The Witte Wieven in the title didn't refer to ghostly women who lure unsuspecting travels to their death. Instead it was the name of Wolfaert's ship. Why he would name his ship after ghosts who only haunt moors and why he used the plural form (witte wieven = white women) is anyone's guess...more

This is such a different paranormal romance novel than what you typically see. No vampires and werewolves here. Just ghosts. And the ghosts here have their own peculiarities. But let me tell you first that this book contains romance. Not just romance, but the perfect, story-book romance. The happy ending kind that you see in fairy tales.

This book was absolutely enjoyable to read. It was an interesting take on time travel within the Bermuda Triangle. I like how Aliyana was a kick butt girl and that she wasn't your usual fragile damsel in distress. And even though she can take care of herself, after meeting Wolf and his crew she comes to rely on them. Wolf and his crew were really fun characters and I liked how they helped with their "Ghostly Abilities". I like the relationship between Alyiana and Wolf. It had a good start and t...more

Wow.. What a story. There is a kick butt heroine and a mystery along with some evil thugs who want to harm the US. Definately a wonderful read and I can't wait to see if there is a sequel!
This book was sooooo good - it is one of my favorites and I look forward to reading it again! I loved the depth and interaction of the characters, the suspense and drama, the supernatural and their abilities and portrayals ... and of course the romance. I became very invested in this story right from the start. I hated putting this book down and would keep sneaking in chapters whenever I could. I can't wait to read more from this author - I hope she puts out more books soon!
