Lou Harper (Goodreads Author)
Jamie Brennan is putting "cad" back into academia!
The son of a well-to-do family and blessed with both dark good looks and buckets of confidence, Jamie lives for the chase. He has a well-deserved reputation around college as a seducer of straight frat boys. No man is off-limits to Jamie—he’s happy to help fellow gay students out of the closet, too. He even has lustful desi...more

Absolutely hilarious, extremely funny and with a very tongue-in-cheek lesson about the long-term benefits of being slutty and materialistic, this story had me somewhere between smiling and laughing out loud the entire time. Jamie, the first-person narrator of this story, is one of those college students who is very open to experiments, and Roger is the exact opposite. The fact that Roger is an art student and somewhat more conservative than most people would expect makes this all the funnier.

3.5 stars. A very amusing short story about Jamie, a fun loving and good-looking Literature student who is making the most of his college days by seducing every guy who crosses his path. His good times are stifled by a scowling, hunky art student who is always around.
I totally mixed up Roger Hunt and Bill Hollins early in the story. Probably my fault because I read so fast, but in my defense, Jamie is a total slut. But I eventually caught up and there was a surprisingly sweet ending. Jamie's loo...more

The blurb describes this story pretty well. Jamie lives with his female cousin, an art student, and enjoys his life of “seducing” straight boys, and half-jokingly rationalizes he’s doing the world a favour by showing them the light. In this story, you get to know a few more of Jamie’s conquests and you see him change over time.
I liked that we actually got to know a few of the guys he’s with and as some noted, if the idea of him sleeping with others after he met “the one” irks you and you like yo...more

This was cute. Very funny. There are a lot of amusing characters. Jamie is the self-professed slut who has the reputation around his college campus as being the seducer of straight boys. He lives for the chase. He's also all about helping gay boys come out of the closet. He has a crush on one of his professors who happens to be British. He doesn't know if the professor is gay because he has no gaydar when it comes to the Brits (the way he explained that had me laughing out loud). There's his (fe...more

. I loved her novella and I've been enjoying her stories ever since. Academic Pursuits is another charming and fun novella that made me smile when I read it.

This book was a pleasant surprise. It's written in a first person point of view and it has a different pacing than most MM stories - it feels like a journal or a naughty story somebody is telling you about their college years.
The main character (and narator) is a pleasant fellow that likes to chase after straight guys and broaden their horizons *grin
He's a libertine and open (and unapologetic) about it. After trying out a variety of different guys he suddenly feels like something has to change -...more

I'm rather enjoying these Hot College Daze stories from Amber Allure and this one was no exception. It tells of super slutty student, Jamie, who's intelligent and hard working but also likes to set himself various targets for seducing straight guys. This is working well for him and as the story starts he's just about finished with his latest conquest, Hollins, and is moving onto the next. However, Jamie is having a little trouble shaking Hollins and his next conquest takes a surprising turn. Add...more

Jamie is a 22 year old college student in Missouri, but he has an obsession with British culture—particularly British men. His best friend and roommate, Jo, is also his cousin. Jamie’s family is wealthy, thus he and his cousin Jo have their own apartment. Jamie is very good looking and knows it, and he leads a very promiscuous lifestyle, proud of his talent at seducing straight men.

Jamie Brennan is enjoying life at college. He is good looking and smart and has lots of opportunities for hook ups with hot college boys. He has earned himself quite a reputation, especially for seducing the straight boys (and even helping a gay man or two take his first steps out of the closet). Jamie enjoys the challenge and the fun of broadening their horizons.
Everyone seems to like Jamie but art student Roger Hunt. Although Jamie i...more

Entertaining and the writing's pretty good, but...didn't really feel like a romance (MC & love interest don't even get together until the last 10% or so of the story. Before that, they exchanged maybe a handful of words. Even their little argument doesn't last more than maybe a few seconds' worth.) More like a chronicle of the MC's sexual exploits. By the end, he shows maybe a hint of some teeny, tiny potential for personal growth (we don't get to see if this is actualized).

With that as the opening line, I know I'm going to get into an amusing tale from Lou Harper. This story is not really romance (for those who are looking for THAT, you've been warned, yes?).
This is mostly a tale of Jamie, a handsome-kinky-c*cksucker, with his fun-loving way, and his days of academic pursuits. We have Jamie busy seducing straight guy, coaxing closet case guy, having fun with out-and-proud twink, mooning over British professor (wi...more

Jamie Brennan is a self-proclaimed slut who likes the pursuit of straight boys. He lives with his cousin Jo and has a constant flow of boys through his apartment. I got kinda confused with all the different boys in this one because there were quite a few, I wasn't sure who he was going end up with in the end.
I figured it would be Roger in the end due to the blurb but I wasn't sure with the hatred that seemed to be shared between the two until almost the very end... it was weird.

Oh, I liked this book WAY better than I expected! While I'm not one that has a problem with non-monogamy, I'm not real big on over-the-top-promiscuity either. But Jamie was so himself, which makes no sense at all :) The MC was completely true to himself and his own ethical code through the entire book, and I thought it was absolutely charming. Jo, the best friend, was wonderfully drawn and Jamie's relationship with Hollis was just wonderful, so cute and funny! And Roger was a darling. I really,...more
An entertaining enough read about Jamie, who is a rich, good looking man whore college student and Roger, a fellow student and sculptor.
There was plenty of sex, but most of it was Jamie with other people (not Roger) and the two main characters took too long to get together IMO.
The end was abrupt and I really needed a few more pages to seal the deal. I wasn't actually sure they were in a relationship by the end. And, Jamie spent so much of the book catting around, I wasn't sure that he could man...more

Jaime is a 22 year old college student. He is smart, good looking, and is all about a good time. He has a reputation around campus as being a seducer of straights, he loves the thrill it gives him when he' s blowing some jock in the washroom. No feelings are hurt because hes giving them a new experience and a good time without all the complications of a relationship.
His charms are completely lost on Roger Hunt, the lumberjack looking hottie. Roger doesn't seem really impressed with his playb...more

A nice inbetween read. It starts a little slow and takes some time to gain flight, but I'm glad I stayed with it. I wouldn't call it a romance exactly, although there are romantic parts in the story. It's more about Jamie's life at college and growing up a little.
I liked Jamies very straightforward voice. The directness and a fine sense of humour give it a comic-like sound in places that fit right in there with the MCs personality.

I was engrossed from the first sentence. The author managed to make Jamie a sympathetic character regardless of his reputation as being the seducer of straight guys. My only complain is the ending. It was too abrupt. There ought to be a bit more to the story and it should not have ended on the first morning.
It's an amusing look at the life of the rather too perfect Jamie and all the guys just falling at his feet (doesn't even matter if they are gay or straight). I wanted to see more interactions with Roger, who it turns out is yet another one of those guys, but unlike the others he's gotten under Jamie's skin.
I enjoyed the writing and the story itself, but I did have some trouble liking the MC, Jamie. Still, a fun story that I liked by the end.
3.5 stars
This is my first Lou Harper read and I enjoyed it. Jamie, although a self-described campus slut, is a likeable and friendly guy who is unabashedly pursuing straight men on campus. This was a cute story and Jamie experiences an amazing amount of growth in a short time. The story drags the reader along with Jamie's carefree attitude and it was a quick, fun read.

Under a prickly, cynical surface Lou Harper is an incorrigible romantic. Her love affair with the written word started at a tender age. There was never a time when stories weren't romping around in her head. She is currently embroiled in a ruinous romance with adjectives. In her free time Lou stalks deviant words and feral narratives.
